Fulham prove to be accommodating hosts yet again as they invite Bournemouth in for tea, biscuits and three goals at the Cottage. Arsenal were also good guests as they brought Crystal Palace a couple of penalties at Selhurst Park, with Chris Smalling also proving an excellent host at Everton, despite their overall all loss at a game of Monopoly (football, you see). We’re also lucky enough to meet the great Bryan Klug, witness a truly special Panenka penalty and, of course, welcome a certain balding smoothy back into the game. Welcome to a very special episode of The Football Ramble, as On The Continent's James Horncastle and Andy Brassell step into the breach in Jim and Pete's absence, looking to bring a bit of European flair to proceedings! Do they succeed? You decide. Expect all the usual chat as we dissect Newcastle's reversal at the hands of Manchester United, Man City and Liverpool duking out a 0-0 draw, and a Christian Kabasele-inspired Watford capitulating at the hands of an impressive Bournemouth. Elsewhere there's Championship chat, Gillingham fans get one over on Luke, and Andy and James bring a new angle on the much-loved Romario/Brazilian politics discussion. The sun is shining for Watford as they simultaneously ruffle Spurs’ feathers and give us all a lesson in parenting. At Liverpool, Alisson Becker gives hope of a recall to The Substitute Keeper and Joe Hart knackers himself seeing off Paul Pogba’s silly run up. We have an unsolicited update on Pete’s vendettas where the emails are supposed to be, discover that Phil Neville knows his ice cream and are disappointed to hear of some very unFulhamish behaviour. Here we go again! The Ramble's back for your aural delectation! To kick us off this week, Manchester United slip up on the south coast much to Brighton's delight, and Chelsea squeak past a profligate Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Elsewhere in the Premier League Watford pick up a lovely result at Burnley, Spurs ease past Fulham, and Luke is particularly animated about West Ham's defending (or lack of it), something that would have undoubtedly won the award for most pathetic backline display of the weekend, had Steve McClaren not got his greasy mitts all over QPR. There's also time for more WhatsApp goodness, a Fort William FC update and some Big Neville Southall-related activity into the bargain. The Premier League is up and running, and so are Man City and Liverpool - both of whom recorded eye-catching wins against Arsenal and West Ham respectively. Elsewhere there's chat about a hard day at the office for Fulham, and a look at Wolves' point against Everton. As the Marcelo Bielsa era gets up and running, we wax lyrical about the effect the big Argentinian is having at Elland Road, and also find time to lament yet more poor behaviour from a Newcastle fan, this time at the Home of Football. So, club football is all but done for another season, and how. We look back at Gareth Bale’s acrobatics, Sergio Ramos’ villainy and Lorius Karius’ tragedy after one of the stranger Champions League finals. We also look at Fulham’s promotion at the expense of Aston Villa - profoundly not the play off championees - Rotherham’s Wembley victory and the usual stuff like funk, goalkeepers with exploding hair and the delightful development of Martin Allen being on press release duty for Chesterfield.
