England and Belgium meet again in the much maligned 3rd Place Play Off game. A rerun of their group stage...

Well, here we are in uncharted Football Ramble territory, as England prepare for a World Cup semi-final with Croatia. We steel ourselves for the game by way of adventures with Keith Allen in Screw Fix, reminiscence of tournaments past and the fev-o-meter going into overdrive. Alongside that we look over an impressive, surgical win from France, enjoy a dig from Fabio Capello and learn to ‘drink more responsibility’. Needless to say, Cristiano has the last laugh. Just like a never ending game of snakes and ladders, Vancouver Whitecaps got themselves off a two match slippery slope, finding a rung to take their trajectory upwards again in a match between two teams that feel like they would struggle to find consistency in the dictionary. Chicago Fire came to town and left on the end of 3-2 victory for Vancouver. We look back at the highs and lows of the match and the players' performances, hear from both head coaches, Chicago's Veljko Paunović and Vancouver's Carl Robinson, and chat about some of the latest Whitecaps news, from the continuing Davies to Europe rumours to the new U23 team the 'Caps are in the process of setting up. We've got two interviews for you this week. The first is with Chicago's World Cup winner, German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger who talks to us about his move to MLS, Saturday's match and playing on turf, and his thoughts on Alphonso Davies. Next up is Whitecaps goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic as we take a trip down World Cup memory lane armed with some Panini sticker albums. We find out the first tournament he can remember watching, how this year wasn't the first year he came heartbreakingly close to being at a World Cup, and look back at New Zealand's 1982 and 2010 World Cup squads. This World Cup has certainly lived up to the hype! In today's pod, Earle and Mustoe preview the World Cup Semi-Finals of France-Belgium and Croatia-England. The guys also look back at the Quarter-Finals and highlight the impressive play of Lloris, Kante, Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Pickford & Trippier (among many others...)

After France beat Uruguay 2-0, they are into the semi-finals, where they will face Belgium. Phil is joined by Jeremy Smit and Conor Ketley to round up how les Bleus played against the Albiceleste, and look forward to how the game against the Belgians will pan out.

Tactical whizz man Roberto Martinez masterminded an impressive win over Brazil as Belgium show what they’re made of, while France continued to do exactly what they need to do, giving the terrifying impression that they’re hiding the true scale of their power. Also Hugh Lloris got a dragon fly in his mouth. Urgh. Elsewhere Gary Neville has some interesting moments, there’s an alternative view of Mark Lawrenson and an update from our beloved Stewart Donaldson. If that still isn’t enough for you then we also look ahead to a couple of games that are taking place this afternoon… This show is sponsored by bet365 Search ‘Football Ramble’ on social media to find us, and email us here: [email protected] ***Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your pods.
