Club taking ‘immediate action’ over social media posts Danso was at fault for Brighton’s late equaliser in draw Tottenham have condemned the “vile, dehumanising racism” aimed at the defender Kevin Danso after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton. Danso was at fault for Georginio Rutter’s stoppage-time equaliser which left Spurs languishing in the relegation zone. The club say they have reported to the police racist abuse towards the Austria centre-back on social media. “Since yesterday’s fixture against Brighton, which took place during the Premier League’s No Room For Racism weekend, Kevin Danso has been, and continues to be, subject to significant and abhorrent racist abuse on social media,” Spurs said in a club statement.

Defender shown red card against Bournemouth Officials claim Maguire made remark as he left field Harry Maguire will miss Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea having been handed an additional one-match ban by the Football Association for his reaction to being sent off at Bournemouth. The 33-year-old was shown a red card at the Vitality Stadium last month for a foul in the area on Evanilson, with Eli Junior Kroupi scoring from the resulting penalty as Bournemouth sealed a 2-2 draw.

‘I see a lot of players come in and it’s too big for them’ Maguire feels he is ‘one of best defenders in both boxes’ Harry Maguire believes the harder times he has experienced at Manchester United would have broken many players and says he has seen teammates find the Old Trafford spotlight too big to handle. Maguire, who feels he is “arguably one of the best defenders in the world in both boxes”, this week signed a new one-year contract with the option of a further season. That extends a United career which began when the club paid a then world-record fee for a defender, £80m, to sign him from Leicester in 2019.

Had been without a club since end of last year ‘It has been my privilege to wear the Welsh shirt’ The former Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35. The midfielder, who spent more than a decade with Arsenal before stints with Juventus, Nice, Cardiff and Rangers, has been without a club since leaving the Mexican side Pumas at the end of last year. Having won the last of his 86 caps for the national side in 2024, due to a combination of injuries and limited game time, he was overlooked for Wales’s recent World Cup playoff against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Wales’s defeat in that game ended Ramsey’s hopes of a grand finale on the biggest stage and he has now confirmed the end of his playing days.
