What an action packed week in Whitecapsland! Okay, it wasn't, but we have to have you believe that we've got lots to talk about in this week's AFTN Soccer Show! Although strangely we do, as we look at the newest Whitecap, draft pick Brendan McDonough, hear some thoughts from head coach Marc Dos Santos as he continues to try to build his first 'Caps squad, and look at the schedule and new kit leak details that came out last week. We also look at the MLS draft and discuss the future of it, hear from BC boy Callum Montgomery after being picked 4th overall by FC Dallas, talk about the ridiculous new-look Canadian Championship, and bring you some Canadian PL and Pacific FC news amongst other things. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode:10.10: Whitecaps News of the Week - McDonough drafted, MDS talks squad building, player gossip, fixture list, new kit leak47.10: MLS SuperDraft chat and Callum Montgomery audio61.23: Canadian Premier League chat70.23 Wavelength - Frank Sidebottom - Manchester City Medley78.16: BC Soccerweb headlines - football news from around the world88.02: The awful new-look Canadian Championship chat

Vancouver Whitecaps' cups runneth over right now. Not only are they right in the middle of a tantalizingly balance Voyageurs Cup final with Toronto FC, but there's the small matter of a Cascadia Cup game down in Portland on Saturday. Joe and Nick look back at the night that was that Canadian Championship first leg. The highs, the lows, the even lower still. It was an evening of goals, stupid defending, and a referee taking centre stage. Oh Canada indeed. Then they turn their attention to Saturday's match in Portland. The Timbers are unbeaten in 15, looking to set a club record, and facing a Whitecaps team that are frankly knackered. It's going to be tough but is this the kind of game that Vancouver will shine in and surprise? Or is a derby day calamity awaiting those of us making the long trip down the I-5? Have a listen!

So it turns out that cheaters actually DO prosper. At least in MLS under PRO referees they do. Vancouver Whitecaps' 1-0 loss to D.C. United, thanks to a dodgy winning penalty call, is a hard one to take. At least we now know what the D.C. aspect of the team stands for. But it wasn't all just down to that one call. The 'Caps did enough to win the game and their finishing, good goalkeeping, and the woodwork, all conspired to prevent that from happening. We look back at all the big talking points from the match and hear the thoughts of both coach, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and D.C.'s Ben Olsen [15:57]. We also chat with the Man of the Match, D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid and centre back Steve Birnbaum [53:04]. But the 'Caps have to put all of that behind them as they have a big game coming up this week with a Canadian Championship semi-final second leg in Montreal. We look back at the first leg, ponder what to expect from the second, and hear from two WFC2 players that made their competitive Whitecaps first team debuts last week - Dutch centre back Sem de Wit [73:32] and New Zealand defender Deklan Wynne [81:15]. And there's still time to look at the Whitecaps new training pitch and facility and hear the thoughts of Jordan Harvey, David Ousted, and Robbo on it and training on grass as opposed to turf [97:14] and have a quick look ahead to this Saturday's MLS match with Atlanta.
