With each passing day there are more and more ideas put forward for how to finish the season. This time around we have Neutral Venues With No Relegation and Do it All in Australia! Some are more sensible than others. It’s not just the Premier League that needs finishing though. What of the FA Cup? Pete reiterates that Newcastle United have scored the most goals so far - because of their replays against lower league opposition - so should probably win it. We’ve got lots more than that though, we’ve got a Dennis Bergkamp fronted consortium sniffing around clubs, we’ve got Jim’s surprising court appearances, Pete “Every day is Tyskie day” Donaldson’s birthday, Luke’s golf insight, some utter filth from Barry Davies, a plea to unify Mother’s Day and the latest entry into Pete’s Film Club. The COVID-19 not-yet-a-pandemic is already disrupting the Italian football season, and if the projections from epidemiologists are to be trusted, it won't be for just a few weeks and it certainly won't be just Italy. We dig into the newest example of how sports themselves don't stick to sports. Then we talk about relegation, honestly, pretty much as if there will be a normal Premier League season. It's hard to keep your brain in pandemic mode. Support the show

Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe take a deep dive into an unusual week in the Premier League. A combination of the winter break and storm Ciara disrupt an already staggered fixture schedule, the Manchester City match was postponed due to extreme weather (00:45). Chris Wilder's Blades reclaim 5th spot (11:00). There were mixed fortunes for two of the elder statesmen of the Premier league, Carlo Ancelotti continued his Everton revival while Roy Hodgson failed to snap his winless streak (20:00). And finally, points were shared between Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford in a crucial relegation match-up (30:15).

We’re back, with our most immature show of the season! If a Newcastle fan fires up the willycopter on live TV then what other choice do we have? Though the winter break is here we’ve still had a surprisingly fun week, with the aforementioned chopper-chopper, Wayne Rooney rolling back the years in the FA Cup and Luke’s pilgrimage to Anfield’s Roy Hodgson statue. And we still have time to hear from our worst listener! Listen please. Suj has seen this film before and now believes his Hammers getting relegated looks a formality. Is it really that bad? We discuss the defeat to West Brom, how Moyes appointment hasn't improved anything and we discuss the facical situation behind the scenes with the training ground. Plus, we review my trip to Southampton as Tottenham drew 1-1 at St Mary's, there's praise for Lo Celso but despite a goal concerns remain around the form of Son and the team overall. _________________________________________ Web: www.planetfpl.com Twitter: @PlanetFPLPod (James) / @sujanshah (Suj) Facebook: www.facebook.com/PlanetFPL Instagram: @planetfpl You Tube: www.youtube.com/planetfpl Learn more about your ad choices. That final Salah Liverpool goal against Manchester United was just a gross display of dominance and celebration at Anfield. I hope that Liverpool fans are actually starting to get sad because it's NEVER going to be better than that moment. You'll lift the trophy but you'll regret not enjoying it more. I hope it feels like the last day of vacation for the rest of the year. Yes, I'm bitter. But I shouldn't be because the relegation battle is going to be so much fun to watch this year. Only 8 points separate #8 (Tottenham) from #18 (Bournemouth). Although that stat is a little off because I'm writing this on Wednesday morning and there's a bunch of game-in-hand scenarios going on. But, I'd argue that anyone from Burnley (#14 on 27 points) to Norwich (#20 on 17 points) has a chance at going down. The bottom of the league is competitive this year. Did you see that insane Villa goal in the 94' minute against Watford? That shit was fire. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Good day! Marcus, Pete and Luke round up all the big stories from the weekend's football, stories such as Mike Dean's latest big moment, Roy Keane's latest argument and how Florian Lejeune would dispose of a dead body. We also debate the latest injury to an England hopeful, marvel at Steve Cook's athleticism and then find time to wonder who we think will get relegated from the Premier League this season. We’re headed up to Liverpool for today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, for a classic escape from relegation. On the docket today is the final day of the 1993/94 season, as Everton had their last roll of the dice against Wimbledon, and we’re joined by author and deCoubertin Books principle James Corbett! After a fantastic period of success in the 1980’s, the turn of the decade brought about tougher times for the Toffees. Everton were actually one of the key five drivers in forming the then-Premiership but looked ill-equipped to deal with the change, after many senior players followed Howard Kendell out the door in the late 80s and early 90s. There were four other teams in the mix for relegation as the final round of fixtures arrived and, after going 2-0 down against Wimbledon, all hope looked lost - but Everton performed the impossible. We discuss a miraculous comeback on that nerve-shredding afternoon at Goodison Park, as fans in the adjoining Stanley Park climbed various trees in hopes of watching one of the most significant ever matches in their club’s history. The mood around Rooster and the Devil has turned a little gloomy with both the Roosters and Devils turning in a poor run of form. Plus, Harry Kane is out for the foreseeable future. As is Moussa Sissoko. Sadness abounds. But we turn those frowns upside down with some talk about the FA Cup. We also predict the future of relegation and give you our picks for the teams going down. Then, Jimmy compares Gyasi Zardes to genital herpes. It's a good one. Thanks for tuning in, folks.
Pre recorded last Friday before the FA Cup 3rd round fixtures Suj & James reflect on a very different New Year's Day for their teams as Tottenham got beat at Southampton while West Ham stormed to a 4-0 win in David Moyes' first game in charge. What next? James explains how he would tactically set up against Liverpool, but knows Mourinho won't go it that way and Suj also knows despite the win West Ham are still very much in the relegation battle. PSG secure the title! Because Lille had a goalless draw at Toulouse, which meant they did that before even kicking off against Monaco. So the Kylian Mbappe hat-trick at the Parc de Princes on Sunday seemed a little underwhelming. Kris, Phil and Jez try to put all this into perspective, look at the race for Europe, the relegation battle, Lyon in the WCL, and other things.
In their final match of the season against a Top 6 opponent, Liverpool passed a big test to remain in the title hunt. A crafty goal kept Arsenal alive away to 10-man Watford. You probably don’t enjoy this one if your team is involved in one, unless you escape it, but what a consistently entertaining thing the relegation battle is. From great escapes by Portsmouth, West Brom and Leicester, we look back over some of the most memorable relegation battles we’ve witnessed, and have a little look at how they work in foreign climes. We talk about the questions of race and racism in sports media that Raheem Sterling has helped surface, about why it's necessary to think critically about race simply to do soccer analysis well, and then over to the weirdness of Chelsea - Man City and why are Chelsea so good at defending sometimes... and finally the relegation scrap. A lot in here! Caley got to talk about discourse.Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoicesSupport the show

This week Phil is joined by two special guests. First, Andrew Gibney pops back to FFW Towers for a look at how Lille managed to get away with that, and the rest of the Ligue 1 positions up for grabs as we head into the last day of the season. Then, new signing Conor Ketley is on hand to discuss the UNFP awards, PSG's latest managerial throw of the dice, and OM's chances in the Europa League final against Atletico Madrid.

Rog and Davo issue an Xs and Os breakdown on City's title celebrations, cue up the Titanic music for Arsene Wenger's last home game at the Emirates, and wade into the relegation mosh pit. Quickly Kevin - S03 EP07 - Tom Parry / 'They Think It's All Rovers' Our guest this week is comedian, Wolves fan, and friend of the show, Tom Parry. For his second appearance on the show it’s a trademark ‘Quickly Kevin…’ watch along. This time round we dissect the unanimous winner of our listener chosen 90’s football documentary recommendation - 'They Think It's All Rover's'. Be warned, this film, charting Doncaster Rover's abysmal 1997/98 season as they fight against relegation from the football league whilst under the control of nefarious owners, makes the Sunderland 'Premier Passions' documentary look like a feel-good romp. We also have some ‘Frying with laughter’ updates about the big man himself, and we ponder, for far too long and too often, just exactly who, or WHAT, is spoon molester Uri Geller? And why did he make fleeting appearances at several lower league clubs during the 90's? Turn on. Tune in. Wenger out.
