Sandra Herrera and Lisa Roman roll out the fifth and final episode of their Title IX Tuesday Series. This June celebrates the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX - a federal civil rights law passed in 1972 prohibiting sex-based discrimination in any school or other educational program that receives funding from the federal government. Sandra and Lisa welcome Sports Media legend and trailblazer Lesley Visser. Lesley is the only sportscaster - male or female - to have worked on the Network broadcast of the Final Four, The Super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals, The Triple Crown, The Olympics, the U.S. Open, and the World Figure Skating Championship. Lesley discusses getting her start in sports media and how the industry has changed over the last several years. She also discusses how being a female, the first female, to do so many things shaped her as a person and as a journalist. In the second half of the episode, Sandra and Lisa welcome trailblazer, NBC Brooklyn Nets analyst and first solo female TV analyst for the NBA, panelist on “We Need to Talk” Sarah Kustok. Sarah discusses what Title IX means to her, how it helped her as a collegiate athlete and how being an athlete helped her as a sports broadcaster. Sarah talks about the challenges she faced in the industry as the first female NBA Analyst, plus, she discusses being a sideline reporter vs a host vs an analyst and which role she prefers. This Title IX series is done in collaboration with CBS Sports’ “We Need to Talk.” 'Attacking Third' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. We’re taking a break from talk of quarantine and self-isolation, as we’re joined on today’s Ramble Meets… by TV and radio broadcaster Mark Pougatch! Mark has been at the forefront of sports broadcasting since Radio 5 live’s formative years, and has gone on to become one of the most experienced and well respected football broadcasters in the country. Mark sits down with Luke to discuss how he got into the industry, what he looks for in pundits he works with and the under-appreciated differences between radio and TV. He also gives us an insight into what was one of the most nerve-wracking days of his career: presenting ITV’s coverage of England’s semi-final against Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
