In this episode of the Designated Players Podcast, we continue our series where we retell the stories of MLS history. We've gone through all the team's subreddits and asked for different stories they remember about their teams, and we've got a list of almost all of them. We are going to do our research and then come together to retell everyone about those stories and give them the spotlight they deserve. This week we're talking about Rihanna’s parking lot party before RBNY’s first game as RBN...

And there were a lot of takeaways to discuss. Plus, have you heard about a boycott? AEG has its hands full on this one. And they probably can't blame anyone else but themselves. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman (LA Galaxy Beat Reporter) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter) discuss all the latest club news and why Dejan Joveljic is only half the man he was last year. We'll explain. The guys will discuss all the news nuggets Greg Vanney dropped in his media availability. That includes discussions about Douglas Costa and Sam Grandsir. Could both be gone? Could both be back? Why did Vanney have some strong words about Costa and wanting to play in Los Angeles? Could the Galaxy be relying on Jalen Neal on defense? Maybe they're focused on another young designated player? And why does Vanney think he's got 2-3 good moves to make? Plus, Josh and Kevin want to talk about the Supporter's Groups boycott of the LA Galaxy season. They want Chris Klein gone. So why did AEG bring him back when they didn't need to? And what is a solution that allows everyone to walk away, saving some face? Is this a staring contest? And if so, who blinks first? Why could Herbalife and AppleTV be big players in a resolution? We've got a lot to talk about. And as we approach 1,000 shows (show 999), we're glad you've been around for the ride!

It's a milestone episode for the AFTN Soccer Show, and we're dedicating our 200th episode to a milestone in Canadian soccer - the new Canadian Premier League. We'll chat about league logistics including locations, stadiums, the timing of the season, the player pool, and will we see a team here in the lower mainland and elsewhere in BC? We kick things off with an extensive chat with the Director of Business for the CPL, Paul Beirne, split into two parts [Part One at 03:52 / Part Two at 24:49], and we also hear the thoughts of long time league advocate Daniel Squizzato [53.00]. The league may still be at least a year away from starting but the supporters are already getting organised and fully behind it. With two cities already confirmed as having teams, Winnipeg and Hamilton, we chat to James Hutton [82:50] from the latter's supporters group, the Barton St Battalion. And we also talk to James Covey [100:56] from a supporters group hoping their city, Halifax, gets a club. All this, and a lot, lot more. The AFTN Soccer Show is brought to you in partnership with BCsoccerweb.com, your one stop site for all your BC, Canadian, and North American soccer news and links. Have a listen!
