News linked to club: phoenix rising
On this week's episode, co-hosts Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans breakdown a stretch of Sounders FC results, the highlight of course being the Rave Green's 2-1 US Open Cup victory over USL-side Phoenix Rising. Zak and Brad discuss what players need to step up on the attacking side, and how Pedro De La Vega can help the offense flip a switch through the rest of the regular season (and hopefully beyond). This week we look at the two dominant teams emerging in MLS (bet you can't guess who), talk about the sea change at DC, and a really unfortunate incident in USL involving San Diego Loyal and Phoenix Rising.

Logan Gdula was gracious enough to spend an early afternoon with us on a Skype interview during our quarantine. Logan is a young player that's on the brink of MLS. He was drafted #13 overall by FC Cincinnati in their first year as an expansion club (last year). He was loaned to Phoenix Rising and sustained an injury. Came back to FC Cincinnati and made the 18 but never saw the field. But was then loaned to Hartford Athletic to play in the USL close to home. In the offseason, he signed with Charleston Battery to play Right Back. The MLS is still very much in the picture for Logan. With a fresh start at Charleston and the expectation of seeing the field a lot, things are looking up whenever we get this thing going again. Logan tells us all about his soccer journey up until his current position. Another great guy with a bright future!

Gary is joined in the 'Coaching Corner' by former Newcastle United center back and current Phoenix Rising assistant coach, Peter Ramage. He discusses his youth experience and why he decided to become a center back, how he was coached at the Newcastle United Academy, challenges of playing that position in the Premier League, and how he views the position today as a coach. The 'Coaching Corner' is about depth and detail and the series is part of the launch for the new book 'Coaching YOUR 4-3-3' - available now on www.modernsoccercoach.com
