Lionesses lessons from World Cup qualifying: Hampton and Russo shine with winning blueprint

England still need to learn how to play to their strengths when handling physical and organised teams such as Iceland The Lionesses’ performance against Spain showed the Euro 2025 final wasn’t a one-off. England have the blueprint for how to beat the world champions: conceding possession, forcing them central and using the threat of Lauren James and Lauren Hemp out wide to punish them on the counter. They were mature and disciplined at Wembley, if a little nervy at the close, with Sarina Wiegman’s team failing to build on their early lead.

Once again: Easy

It’s a historic eeeeeaasaaay for Pete, Luke and Jim today after England retain their Euros crown with a clutch win over Spain. We revel in some era-defining performances from Sarina Wiegman, Chloe Kelly, Lucy Bronze and the rest of those effing heroes. Elsewhere, Arsenal finally complete the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, Pep turns down the India job (sort of) and Evangelos Marinakis convinces Morgan Gibbs-White to stay at Forest - presumably at gun point. Plus, rejoice: pre season tours are here! Shame nobody told the fans in the local area. For Upfront's full review of England's famous win, click here to listen and subscribe! Chloe and Rachel bring you a very special episode of Upfront ahead of the World Cup next Thursday! Our guest today - Carly Telford - has been to not one, not two, but THREE World Cups! So who better to tell us about how to prepare for a major tournament? Chloe and Rachel sit down with Carly for a fascinating pod, where Carly reveals her formative conversation with the Lionesses No.1 Mary Earps, how England really prepare their goalkeepers for penalty shootouts, and why Sarina Wiegman is less of a harsh taskmaster than you might think! Upfront: An eazay win for England, Northern Ireland's journey ends, and some fantastique French flair

Flo, Rachel and Chloe just about make it to the studio after a chaotic night in Brighton, where England blew Norway to pieces! 8-0! Have some of that! We report back from the Amex and wonder how vital Sarina Wiegman is to England's chances. We also look over the other main contenders, including a sumptuous France performance, and tip the hat to Northern Ireland after their hopes of qualification were extinguished by Austria. Remember, all post-England shows will be available on the Ramble feed this summer. But if you want access to all our Euros coverage, make sure you're subscribed to Football Ramble Presents! Upfront: England's Euros campaign is underway!

We're off! England kicked off their home Euros with a win against Austria last night. Flo, Rachel and Chloe were all at Old Trafford, so join us as we look back over a historic night for the Lionesses. We assess what was a solid, if underwhelming, performance from England and rate some surprise selections from Sarina Wiegman. We also look ahead to the next few matches, as Northern Ireland face Norway and Spain face Finland without their star icon. Remember, all post-England shows will be available on the Ramble feed this summer. But if you want access to all our Euros coverage, make sure you're subscribed to Football Ramble Presents! The unstoppable Bayern machine, Gerard Piqué’s London calling, and the new Lionesses head coach

Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski ended Lyon’s Champions League dream last night, despite the Ligue Un side having plenty of chances! We rue those misses on today’s episode of the Football Ramble. Next, Kate, Vish and Jim look at developments in the women’s game, as Dutch legend Sarina Wiegman becomes the next England head coach and USWNT’s Rose Lavelle joins Man City. There’s even time for some gloriously bizarre transfer rumours – Michael Keane to Barcelona, anyone? ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods.
