In today's pod, Earle and Mustoe discuss an opportunity lost in England's defeat to Croatia. The guys lament England's drop off after the early goal before applauding another impressive gut-check victory from Modric, Perisic, Rakitic & Co. Then, the guys breakdown France's controlled victory over Belgium and preview Sunday's Final. Lastly, Rob and Rob are reminded that the Premier League kicks off in less than one month with some breaking news on Chelsea and Antonio Conte!

The World Cup final is a clash between ‘old foes’ after what has been a fascinating tournament. Croatia and France...

Sorrow, heartbreak, dismay. Three abstract concepts that Croatian fans are definitely not experiencing on Day 23 of the World Cup. It's curtains for England, and the Tifo team gather to discuss the second semi-final & England's performance weighted against an impressive and, ultimately, superior Croatia team. Also: How might Croatia shape up against France? And another word on Raheem Sterling. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Well, here we are in uncharted Football Ramble territory, as England prepare for a World Cup semi-final with Croatia. We steel ourselves for the game by way of adventures with Keith Allen in Screw Fix, reminiscence of tournaments past and the fev-o-meter going into overdrive. Alongside that we look over an impressive, surgical win from France, enjoy a dig from Fabio Capello and learn to ‘drink more responsibility’. Needless to say, Cristiano has the last laugh. After France beat Uruguay 2-0, they are into the semi-finals, where they will face Belgium. Phil is joined by Jeremy Smit and Conor Ketley to round up how les Bleus played against the Albiceleste, and look forward to how the game against the Belgians will pan out.

Tactical whizz man Roberto Martinez masterminded an impressive win over Brazil as Belgium show what they’re made of, while France continued to do exactly what they need to do, giving the terrifying impression that they’re hiding the true scale of their power. Also Hugh Lloris got a dragon fly in his mouth. Urgh. Elsewhere Gary Neville has some interesting moments, there’s an alternative view of Mark Lawrenson and an update from our beloved Stewart Donaldson. Well. Phil and Jez get together to review the 4-3 win over Argentina, and look nervously forward to the quarter-final against Uruguay. After a positive performance including a great second-half ten minutes against an Argentinian side dealing with a lot of issues, including Benjamin Pavard's wondergoal and a brace from Kylian Mbappe, les Bleus will have a very different challenge on Friday.
France might have the best player in the tournament, but the most shackled squad. Uruguay might not be the worse version of Argentina that Goodman thought they'd be. Belgium...well...you can't say that wasn't a wild way to finish a match (just ignore the first 70 minutes where everything was very bad). Then there's Brazil, a team that somehow is getting nitpicked despite looking very, very good. How they got here – and where they go from here – in this week's episode, brought to you by The At...

And so the knockout stages started as well as the group stages promised. An all-time classic from France and Argentina, and a hard-fought Uruguayan victory over Portugal set an incredibly high standard and we say keep it coming. There’s also Pete going on about aspect ratios, more England flies, and plenty to look forward to as the tourney keeps rolling on… This show is sponsored by bet365 Search ‘Football Ramble’ on social media to find us, and email us here: [email protected] ***Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your pods. The dynamic player-management duo of Lionel Messi and a bleedy Javier Mascherano saw Argentina through the group after a scare. Was it ever in doubt? Yes. Yes it was. Alongside this there’s gushing over Croatia, scorn for France and Denmark as they provide the tournament’s first 0-0, and some odd chat about bones. Also, Luke writes off the Germans again, which is probably as close to a spoiler as you can get in a World Cup. Get involved, you Squares. Kris is joined by Jez and Phil to look at OL 2 - 1 PSG and everything else going on in French football, including Bordeaux hiring Poyet, Toulouse binning Dupraz, Nice recovering, and the available Coupe de France action.

Phil, Jez and Rich get together for the first FFW Pod of 2018, reviewing the Coupe de France, glancing sideways at the Coupe de la Ligue and the transfer window, and looking forward to the return of Ligue 1 at the weekend. Which clubs might pull themselves together after the winter break? Which could tumble down the table? And which players need to get the hell out of that window? All these questions and more, come up.

It's an international week, so Kris takes the helm with Phil, Jez and Rich to answer listeners' questions, ranging from the best players outside the top two, how the Coupe de France works, what Patrice Evra is up to, why Angers have a panda as a mascot, and how France should line up at the World Cup.

The Netherlands ended up third in the Group A standings of the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers and after lining up just behind France and Sweden they were knocked out form ....

The team is back as Kris is joined by Phil, Jez and Rich to discuss the Rhone Derby, and whether we want to see that kind of thing, if PSG are the best team in Europe at the moment, Monaco's recent form, and whether Metz are doomed. Also tops and flops, why OL are kicking off at 6am in the Women's Champion's League, how Marcelo Bielsa is currently communicating, and what various levels of France are up to over the next week.
