Senne Lammens speaks of his World Cup ambitions with Belgium, how Man Utd have changed this season and the defender who is a 'beast'

Roberto Martinez was blunt in assessing how reliable March's friendlies are when it comes to projecting World Cup performance

The U.S. manager bemoaned his side's 90-minute effort against Belgium. Will the players' response meet the challenge?

The vibes are… complicated. After a sobering 5-2 loss to Belgium, Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola regroup to unpack what went wrong, starting with a sharper reassessment of Johnny Cardoso’s first half and what it means for his role moving forward. The guys also take a closer look at Matt Turner and dig into what Mauricio Pochettino may (and may not) have learned from a night where intensity was a major question. From there, the focus shifts to Christian Pulisic, who reaches the 10-year mark with the United States men's national soccer team. But it’s not just a celebration as the crew weighs his current goal drought with the national team. Then it’s on to the final dress rehearsal. The USMNT faces Portugal national football team, a side missing stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Leão, but still loaded with quality. The crew dives into Roberto Martínez’s setup and talks through what Pochettino’s projected XI could look like with roster decisions looming. One last test. Big calls ahead. The expansion of this summer’s 48-team tournament mean Tuesday’s games will be the best we see until the round of 16 Sign up for Soccer with Jonathan Wilson here Live in a World Cup host city? Tell us your stories There is always a slightly odd rhythm to the World Cup. The final round of qualifying games is almost invariably more exciting than the early games at the tournament itself, and now with 32 teams making it through the group stage and into the knockout rounds, that is likely to be even more true for the 2026 edition. Those final qualifiers in November were thrilling and meaningful – Troy Parrott’s hat-trick! Scotland scoring two absurdly good goals in the same game! DR Congo beating Nigeria on penalties as bottles rained down from the stands! Honduras failing to score against Costa Rica! – and Tuesday will be too as 12 teams battle for the six remaining slots. But for those not involved in World Cup playoffs, there is an unsatisfying phoniness to the friendlies they must play instead, with experimental line-ups and weary players going through glorified training exercises. While it’s never good to be letting in five goals, neither the USA nor Ghana should be too concerned about the defeats to Belgium or Austria.

Matt Davies-Adams takes the hotseat alongside Daniel Storey, Tom Williams, Duncan Alexander, Felipe Cardenas and Dan Kilpatrick as Tottenham say goodbye to another manager. Igor Tudor is shown the door by Spurs after just seven games in charge. The club are pushing to make former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi his replacement, but is he what they need right now? Boos at Wembley for Ben White who scores, then gives away a penalty in England’s 1-1 friendly draw with Uruguay. And who will take the last six places at this year’s World Cup? The final qualifying playoff games take place on Tuesday. Produced by Lucy Oliva and Xavi Bird RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Tudor leaves Spurs (4:45) • PART 2A: England 1-1 Uruguay (26:30) • PART 2B: France 3-1 Colombia (36:30) • PART 3: USA 2-5 Belgium (43:30) • PART 4: World Cup playoff preview (49:30) Hosted on Acast. Poch and the boys put on a solid if unspectacular display for 40 minutes, and then, as Vince said, didn't handle business in our defensive third too many times, and paid for it. A long recap of an interesting but discouraging outing at the Benz.

On the latest edition of Caught Offside with Andrew Gundling and JJ Devaney, the boys share their thoughts on the USMNT's 5-2 loss in Atlanta to Belgium (00:00-53:49). We'll discuss Matt Turner's shock inclusion at goalkeeper, the need to get more out of Christian Pulisic and the bizarre white kit controversy. Then, after just 44 days, Tottenham decide to relieve Igor Tudor of his duties (54:00-01:01:10). Is this the right move? And where on Earth do they turn for this next appointment? Do they need a master tactician or is it time to go all-in on good vibes? And finally... Ireland (01:01:25-01:22:51). JJ will provide his obituary to their devastating loss on penalties against Czechia and let us know if their run signifies the beginning of a promising era or if this was all just a moment in time.
