Gary talks with Brazil national team assistant coach, Matheus Bachi, to discuss his role with the national team and get an insight into their culture, environment, and player relationships. Matheus featured heavily in the 'All Or Nothing' documentary on Amazon Prime about the Copa America success, and discusses a variety of different contexts: player relationships, pressure from fans, team-talks, player-coach interactions, and "playing with joy."

It was a weekend of quarter-final football, as well as Premier League action, where we possibly learnt more about the losers than the winners. Could declining Leicester miss out on the top 4 or even the top 6? Why is Grealish no longer a threat? And what does Tierney’s Tesco bag say about him as a player?Tom and Natalie give us the latest from France and Brazil where football will be starting up again too late and too early.Plus the excitement of watching Man United, massive insects and getting blocked by footballers on Twitter.RUNNING ORDER• PART 1: Leicester 0-1 Chelsea (04m 00s)• PART 2: Arsenal, Man Utd & Man City progress to the semi-finals (13m 00s) • PART 3: On This Day – June 29th (29m 00s)• PART 4a: Aston Villa 0-1 Wolves & Watford 1-3 Southampton (33m 00s)• PART 4b: A look ahead to the midweek Premier League fixtures (39m 30s)• PART 4c: The state of play in France and Brazil (47m 00s)• PART 5: The odds with Lee Price from Paddy Power (52m 00s)• PART 6: The latest from the Championship (54m 00s)GET IN TOUCH:• follow us on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/totallyfootballshow/)• find us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/thetotallyfootballshow/)• send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow (http://www.twitter.com/thetotallyshow) PARISH NOTICES:• we’re sponsored by Paddy Power - home of the Money Back Special (http://www.paddypower.com/) READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE:• check out thetotallyfootballshow.com (http://thetotallyfootballshow.com/) . 20 Years ago under pressure from the Government and the Football Association Treble Winners Manchester United gave up the opportunity to defend their title as FA Cup Winners & instead compete in the first FIFA Club World Championship in Brazil. Their tournament was a political & sporting disaster, but back in England the rest of the Premier League couldn't take advantage. Suj & James discuss this, what happened in the FA Cup without United & if a Club World Cup could ever return. _____________________________________________ Web: www.planetfpl.com Twitter: @PlanetFPLPod (James) / @sujanshah (Suj) Facebook: www.facebook.com/PlanetFPL Instagram: @planetfpl You Tube: www.youtube.com/planetfpl Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/planetfpl Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Rooster and the Devil, we interview Bruno Lapa of the USL Championship's Birmingham Legion FC. Bruno has a great soccer story. He grew up playing the game in Brazil, spent some time on trial in Portugal, and eventually ended up playing for Montegverde Academy in Florida. From there, he took a path that is traditionally blazed by American soccer youth. He committed to Wake Forest and spent 4 years playing for the University (2016-2019). He was the #10 on the squad, a captain, and a First Team All-American during his time there. After College, he ended up in the USL Championship and was set to begin his first season with Birmingham Legion FC. And then Coronavirus happened. So, like the rest of us, he sits and waits for soccer to come back. Great conversation with a great young man! Am I old now if I start saying great young man?
Alexi and Mosse look at the Bundesliga taking steps to return to action at the start of the show (4:22). Then, defining matches for the USMNT and Brazil, players that remind Alexi of himself and the influence of esports are looked in #AskAlexi (24:48). Finally, the guys list their favorite players from some soccer-crazed nations (44:29) in another remote edition of the State of the Union Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. World Cup style camps. That’s the phrase that’s all the rage at the moment. The Premier League are continuing to look at ways to finish the season and good on them. Will we have a bizarre little behind-closed-doors conclusion to the season this summer? We just don’t know. In other news it looks like Newcastle United actually have a strong chance of winning the FA Cup this season, Arsenal have been engaging in a spot of espionage and Graeme Souness is still really angry about everything about Paul Pogba. There’s also time to learn more about Edinburgh’s bacon boys and of course, Pete’s Film Club, in which he robs yet more hours of our lives. We’re back once again to find that football still seems to be a rich vein of absurdity even when there isn’t actually any football, and face up to the idea that our show might actually be better when there isn’t any. Admittedly this has been helped by some classic and very welcome outside-the-box-thinking from Ian Holloway, John Hartson’s “elaborate golf hole” idea and Torquay United discovering that they have a hell of an athlete among their ranks. We also found time to talk George Lazenby, around the house holiday clothes and the contents of Pete’s cupboards, while there’s seismic change afoot as for the very first time, we open the doors to Pete’s Film Club. Though in the early days we were no strangers to recording in our homes none of us realistically thought we’d ever be doing it again. Trying times have made it necessary so this is what we’re doing to keep bringing you Football Ramble Daily. From a set of improvised home studios we look at the ways in which the remaining unplayed football might be resolved, or indeed unresolved, while hearing the thoughts of you, our beloved listeners. Kenny Dalglish and Scott Brown have some thoughts too. For a time without football there’s a surprising amount to talk about and we manage to take in our around-the-house sartorial choices, the bleep test and plagiarism related beef. Oof. Atletico Madrid picked a good time to remind us all of what they can do. A truly epic night of football at Anfield ended with a bewildered Liverpool going out of the competition. Will this setback stop them winning the league? No. No it won’t. Spurs had their own struggles and with Ole’s Man United coming to town at the weekend things could be about to get worse? Yes. Yes they could. As well as all this there’s controversy in the email section, balanced out by the best fanfic we’ve seen yet.
