Manchester United host Brentford for a Matchday 34 clash in the 2025/2026 Premier League campaign. Here’s everything you need to know, including kickoff times and viewing options on TV and streaming platforms. Here are all of the details of where you can watch Manchester United vs Brentford on US television and via legal streaming: WHO Manchester United vs Brentford WHAT English Premier League WHEN 3:00pm ET / 12:00pm PT • Monday, April 27, 2026 WHERE DirecTV Stream, Sling, USA Network, Universo and Hulu + Live TV STREAM FREE TRIAL Match Overview The pressure is mounting at Old Trafford as Manchester United enters a crucial phase of their season. Currently third in the Premier League but level on points with Aston Villa and with Liverpool just three points behind, the margin for error is razor-thin. Under interim manager Michael Carrick, United has turned their home ground into a fortress, winning five of their last six league matches there. However, a recent 2-1 loss to Leeds served as a stark reminder that nothing can be taken for granted in the hunt for Champions League qualification. Brentford arrives in Manchester with ambitions of their own, chasing a spot in European competition from ninth place. Keith Andrews‘s side has earned a reputation as giant-killers, underscored by a decisive 3-1 victory over United earlier this season. While they are currently on a streak of five consecutive draws, this run highlights their resilience and how difficult they are to break down. The Bees have been formidable on the road, losing just once away from home since mid-January, and they will be determined to turn their recent stalemates into a statement win. Tactical Analysis & Match Context The season trajectories of these two clubs tell a story of differing expectations. Manchester United‘s campaign is defined by the absolute necessity of securing a top-four finish. Results have improved under Carrick, but performances remain inconsistent, often relying on moments of individual brilliance to secure points rather than sustained tactical dominance. For Brentford, this season is about cementing their status as a Premier League force and making a legitimate push for Europe, a goal that would be significantly boosted by a victory here. The tactical battle is set to be a classic clash of styles. Manchester United is expected to control possession and territory, leveraging their offensive firepower. They average 15.64 shots per game, the second-most in the league, with Bruno Fernandes orchestrating the attack. In contrast, Brentford will likely adopt a disciplined, defensive posture, aiming to frustrate United and strike on the counter-attack. The Bees‘ success will depend on their ability to contain Fernandes and exploit the defensive vulnerabilities United has shown in transition. Motivation is at a fever pitch for both squads. For Manchester United, every match is a must-win to hold off their rivals and secure Champions League football. The financial and sporting implications are immense, adding significant weight to this home fixture. Brentford, meanwhile, can play with a degree of freedom. A positive result at Old Trafford would be a massive scalp and provide a huge injection of momentum into their European aspirations, making this a high-stakes encounter for both teams. Head-to-Head Record & Historic Trends History suggests this fixture is anything but predictable. The last five meetings between Manchester United and Brentford have been perfectly balanced, with each team claiming two victories alongside one draw. This parity proves that neither side holds a psychological advantage, and Brentford‘s 3-1 win in the reverse fixture this season will give them confidence that they can compete with and defeat their more storied opponents. A closer look at recent encounters reveals a pattern of high-scoring, dramatic contests. Brentford won the last two matches where they scored three or more goals, including a thrilling 4-3 victory last season. Before that, Manchester United had secured back-to-back 2-1 wins, demonstrating their ability to grind out results in this fixture. The trend indicates that matches between these two are rarely dull and often decided by fine margins and offensive prowess. For those looking at statistical trends, goals are the most prominent feature. Both teams have scored in all of the last five head-to-head clashes, and four of those five games have seen over 2.5 goals. The combined average of 3.8 goals per game in these matchups points towards an open and entertaining affair, suggesting that both defenses will be tested thoroughly on Monday night. Squad News & Projected Lineups Both managers are contending with significant squad issues, though Manchester United receives a boost while Brentford continues to manage a lengthy injury list. For the home side, the return of Harry Maguire is a welcome development for a defense that has been stretched thin. Lisandro Martinez remains suspended, and both Matthijs De Ligt and Patrick Dorgu are sidelined with injuries. In attack, Matheus Cunha is expected to be fit to start despite leaving the last match with groin discomfort, a crucial piece for United‘s offensive plans. Brentford‘s impressive season is even more remarkable given their persistent injury problems. Key players like Josh Dasilva, Jordan Henderson, and Rico Henry are still unavailable, testing the depth of the squad. Despite these absences, the team has maintained a high level of performance and organization, a testament to their coaching and collective spirit. Manchester United Projected XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Heaven, Maguire, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Šeško. This lineup relies heavily on its attacking quartet to create chances. With Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings and Benjamin Šeško leading the line, United possesses a significant goal threat. The focus will be on whether the makeshift defense, bolstered by Maguire‘s return, can provide a solid foundation. Brentford Projected XI (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Jensen, Yarmolyuk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago. Brentford‘s formation is designed for defensive solidity and rapid transitions. The midfield duo of Jensen and Yarmolyuk will be tasked with shielding the backline, while the pace of Ouattara and Schade on the wings will be vital for launching counter-attacks aimed at their powerful striker, Igor Thiago. Despite his solid performances, Marcus Rashford’s future at Barcelona is complicated by his high transfer fee. However, Rafael Leão and a significant reduction in his salary could reportedly help the Englishman remain with the Blaugranas. Marcus Rashford has managed to earn a place at Barcelona, becoming a key piece for Hansi Flick throughout the season. Not only has he had a strong goal-scoring and creative impact, but he has also adapted well to the team’s dynamics. Despite this, the Englishman could find it difficult to continue at the Spanish side, although Rafael Leão and a significant reduction in his salary expectations could bring him closer to staying. According to Matteo Moretto, a transfer market specialist journalist, the future of Marcus Rashford is far from decided. Although he wants to remain at Barcelona, the club aims to lower his €30M buy clause, as he is 29 years old and they would not be able to amortize his contract over many years due to its relatively short length. While Manchester United are not looking to reduce his valuation, Rafael Leão could play a key role in the Englishman’s future. If Rashford were to return to the Red Devils, he would receive a salary increase by playing in the UEFA Champions League. With this in mind, United would look to sell him quickly, aiming to free up wage space to pursue the signing of Rafael Leão, who is reportedly set to leave AC Milan for the Premier League, according to Football Insider. As a result, Barcelona and Rashford could push to reduce his transfer fee, as a return to Manchester United would be complicated. Looking for a definitive boost to their squad, Manchester United could make a strong push for Rafael Leão, as they currently lack a dribbling-focused left winger in their squad. Being a highly decisive player, they could end up in a bidding battle with Manchester City and Liverpool—something they may not be able to afford without selling Rashford, whose high salary could block the arrival of the Portuguese forward, making things easier for Barcelona. Marcus Rashford of FC Barcelona looks on during the LaLiga EA Sports match. Report: Barcelona struggle as Víctor Muñoz, Jan Virgili don’t convince Amid growing doubts over the future of Marcus Rashford, Barcelona are already considering alternatives, as they continue to pursue a signing on the left wing. While Víctor Muñoz and Jan Virgili had emerged as possible replacements for the Englishman, neither fully convinces the club for different reasons. As a result, the Blaugrana side face significant uncertainty in the transfer market. According to Carlos Monfort via Diario Sport, Barcelona sporting director Deco has already met with the agent of Víctor Muñoz, aiming to bring positions closer for a potential transfer. However, they are not fully willing to pay the €40M release clause to CA Osasuna, since Real Madrid own 50% of his rights, which would effectively strengthen their direct rival—making the operation nearly ruled out. Jan Virgili remains one of the best-positioned options to reinforce the wing. With Barcelona holding 40% of his future sale, his transfer fee would be in the range of €13–17M. Despite this, the Blaugrana do not currently consider his signing a priority, according to Sergi Capdevila via Diario Sport. As a result, they may still lack a clear alternative to Marcus Rashford, which could lead them to continue pressuring Manchester United to lower his valuation.

Luka Modrić has suffered a facial fracture that has ended his season with AC Milan, but the midfielder is expected to be fit in time to lead Croatia at the 2026 World Cup. Luka Modric has joined a growing list of players to suffer a significant injury with less than two months until the 2026 World Cup. After sustaining a fracture, his season with AC Milan is over, but the legendary midfielder is expected to recover in time to represent Croatia on the world stage. Hosting the Derby dei Campioni at San Siro on Sunday, Milan were unable to find a winner in a 0-0 draw that did little to help their Champions League qualification push. In the 80th minute, Modric went up for an aerial duel with Manuel Locatelli, with the Juventus midfielder’s head making violent contact with the left side of his face, forcing the Croatian off the pitch. The club’s official statement confirmed the severity of the injury. “Diagnostic tests carried out today highlighted a fracture of the left cheekbone which will require surgical intervention, scheduled for the coming hours. Further details will be communicated following the operation,” the statement read. With the fracture requiring surgery, the recovery timeline rules Modric out for the remainder of Milan’s domestic campaign. Expected to be sidelined until late May, the Rossoneri will be without their Croatian star for the final four games of the Serie A season. Luka Modric of AC Milan is assisted off by medical staff after going down injured. AC Milan lose a key player in Champions League qualification push In his first season at AC Milan, Modric established himself as the team’s standout performer. Despite modest counting stats of two goals and three assists in 36 appearances, his influence on the club has been far more profound, serving as the engine of the midfield with 60.3 passes completed per game at an efficiency rate of 91%, a level of quality that has kept Milan firmly in the mix for a return to Europe’s elite. His absence could not come at a worse time. Milan currently sit third in the Serie A standings with 67 points, with Juventus breathing down their necks at 64, and both Como and Roma still in contention at 61 points apiece. With just four fixtures remaining in the 2025-26 season against Sassuolo, Atalanta, Genoa and Cagliari, seven points would see the Rossoneri secure Champions League play on their own terms, but coach Massimiliano Allegri now faces a significant challenge in filling the void left by Modric. Modric expected to be fit for the World Cup While both his season and his contract with AC Milan are drawing to a close, Modric has every reason to be optimistic about making it to the 2026 World Cup in North America. According to Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, the midfielder is expected to be sidelined until late May but is on track to be fit for Croatia’s tournament opener against England on June 17. His availability for the warm-up friendlies against Belgium on June 2 and Slovenia on June 7 will depend entirely on how his recovery progresses in the weeks ahead. What does appear increasingly likely is that Modric will be wearing a protective face mask for much of the tournament as he makes his return.
