FIFA High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah has underlined that Carlos Queiroz’s prospects of success with the Black Stars will depend largely on how quickly he adapts. The Portuguese coach, appointed on a short-term four-month deal, has been tasked with steadying Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup following the dismissal of Otto Addo after a string of four consecutive friendly defeats. With limited time before the expanded tournament begins, attention has turned to whether Queiroz can impose his methods effectively in such a compressed window.Chibsah, while acknowledging the pedigree of the 73-year-old former Real Madrid and Portugal coach, stressed that reputation alone will not guarantee results unless he adjusts to the specific realities of the Black Stars environment.“He will bring a bit of discipline to the team, which for me was lacking a lot. We would see [discipline] and also [Ghana would] definitely get an identity.”“The challenge for Carlos now would be how adaptable he can be taking on Ghana.”“Iran, Oman, Qatar [recent jobs of Queiroz] are not Ghana. Ghana, we expect more.”Ghana are aiming to reach the World Cup knockout stages for the first time since 2010, with Group L fixtures against England, Croatia and Panama...

As for Enrique, is he the man to finally push the Parisians over the line to become a serious contender in years to come? Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic's Peter Rutzler as well as Pierre-Etienne Minonzio of L'Equipe. And while there's some criticism of the defense, we think the offense needs to kick it into gear more than the defense. And Kevin Cabral, FINISH YOUR CHANCES! Kevin Baxter is away for World Cup Qualifying on today's show, so it's up to Josh Guesman to hold down the show all by himself. Josh will start by talking about pupusas and what an absolutely gorgeous Saturday we were all having until the Galaxy ruined it. The grass looked terrific, the white uniforms sparkled, and it was just the perfect situation to get a win and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Well, that ended in the 9th minute. Was it a defensive breakdown? Yes. Was the defense the problem on Saturday? No. Josh will tell you why Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez couldn't score and why Kevin Cabral was the Galaxy's best player! Also, why Kevin Cabral was the Galaxy's worst player. And it's probably important to gain some perspective on where the Galaxy were last year and what they're doing in the first four games. Plus, Josh will get you audio from Greg Vanney's post-game press call where he focuses on "patience" and what he sees Cabral doing during games. Are you ready to be done with the Cabral experiment? And if you are, who do you place in his spot? Can Vanney be trusted to get the best out of Cabral? And does he have an end to his patience? Finally, Josh will lay out the upcoming schedule for next month and tell you why it doesn't get any easier. In fact, it gets soooooo much harder! Stats, game recap, Victor Vazquez losing his left foot. This pod has it all!

Four days, two matches, two different competitions, two defeats. That's been Vancouver Whitecaps' week, but the performances and circumstances of the games against San Jose Earthquakes and Tigres in the 'Volcano' were very different natural disasters. The 'Caps battled hard against a much better Tigres side in Mexico on Tuesday night, coming away with just a two goal deficit and are still very much in their CONCACAF Champions League semi-final. We look back at the game, the performances, and the strange feeling of coming away from a game that we expected the team to do much worse in but being disappointed with how things ultimately played out. 'Caps coach Carl Robinson gave us a call just before he headed home from Mexico to chat about the game and what may lie in store in the second leg (00:16:23 mark). There were some good defensive displays in Mexico, especially from Kendall Waston and David Ousted. But where was that in San Jose? Can they produce that every week in MLS? San Jose was a mess. We look at the great start, the turning point of Ousted's sending off, and the subsequent defensive collapse, posing the question what future does Kekuta Manneh have with this team if he can't add a better defensive side to his game and what could the 'Caps get for him if they decided to put him up for a trade? Our player interview this week is with one of the Whitecaps most recent additions, Brek Shea (00:49:48). We sit down with Brek to talk about his career, moving to Vancouver, and life off the pitch. We found it an interesting chat and we're sure you will too. And there's still time to bring you Tim Parker's footballing bucket list (01:16:17). Have a listen.
