The Soccer Community and The Black Lives Matter Movement

This is a very different episode than usual. Given everything that is going on, we thought it was important to share our feelings because it's not easy to do a comedy show right now as we are seeing how everyone is protesting for the brutal murder of George Floyd in Minnesota. Just for some context, this episode was taped on June 2nd and 3rd, after some pretty wild protests and looting in NYC, so you get a sense of where our heads are at. To the soccer community who are out there as we speak protesting, we just want to say thank you for all you do, and we love you. Ramble Meets... Marcus Mumford

Andy Brassell is joined by another of AFC Wimbledon's devoted fans for today's Ramble Meets... episode as he welcomes Mumford & Sons' lead singer, Marcus Mumford! From supporting Manchester United at school until his friends forced his allegiances elsewhere, Marcus has loved football his whole life. He joins us to discuss his relationship to his hometown club, from wondering whether he could play for The Dons when they held trials on Wimbledon Common to cheering on from his car as they beat Luton Town and returned to the Football League in 2011. He also tells us the story behind his recently released cover of 'You'll Never Walk Alone', with all proceeds from the song going to War Child and the Grenfell Foundation, and his work setting up War Child FC which uses football as a support mechanism for children living in places ravaged by conflict. Jules & Andy: Lower divisions are cancelled and clubs turn to their communities

After her Coronavirus-enforced obscene last week, Jules Breach makes her welcome return on this week’s episode of Jules & Andy! Her and Andy Brassell reconvene in the wake of The FA’s decision to end and expunge the results of tiers three to six of the football pyramid. We discuss the appeal that many clubs have signed to try and reverse the decision, as well as the steps other clubs are taking to instead help those in need within their community. We also try to gauge the possible domino effect this could have on those teams above them in the professional game who still, in theory, have seasons to complete. We also get to some of your correspondence, which includes questions around clubs’ finances in the wake of the crisis, some of our clubs’ favourite academy prospects and yet another bout of Newcastle takeover rumours. Shock! We'd love to here from you in these unprecedented, chaotic times - email us at: [email protected] or tweet us @JulesBreach @AndyBrassell ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Jules & Andy: How players are coping in isolation, with Arsenal physio Gary Lewin

It’s a slightly different episode of Jules & Andy today as, with Jules currently unwell, Andy Brassell is joined by presenter and pundit Kate Mason! After Kate tells us what it was like to present the news last night whilst introducing the Prime Minister’s address, we wonder how footballers themselves are dealing with these unprecedented times. To help shed some light on this, we speak to former Arsenal and England physio Gary Lewin. He discusses the mental challenges facing players who live almost entirely regimented lives, and how even big Premier League clubs will struggle to find the resources needed to adequately train their players. We then discuss what initiatives clubs are running in their local communities to help those affected by the crisis, as well as getting to some correspondence – which features a few ideas on how smaller clubs might be supported in the future. We'd love to here from you in these unprecedented, chaotic times - email us at: [email protected] or tweet us @JulesBreach @AndyBrassell @KvlMason! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods.
