But one player will need to make sure he gets on a different bus: Dejan Joveljic. Joveljic seemed like he was already out the door but headed to LigaMx's Tigres. Instead, in a last-minute turnaround, Sporting KC swooped in and made the Galaxy forward a Designated Player. On today's show, we'll talk about what that means for the Galaxy and why $4 million inside the league means more than $5 million outside the league. And be sure to join us on February 9th for our Live Show at Coachella! Watch the Galaxy and watch a live show with some great special guests. Let's get to it! -- Corner of the Galaxy is kicking off Season 17, just a few shows past show no. 1,100! And we can't wait to show you everything we've got in store for 2025! So why was social media abuzz with Chris Klein mentions today? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's status ahead of their first day on the field. Kevin calls in from MLS Media Day and talks about the sudden pull-back of Julian Araujo. There's also the most in-depth talk about Chris Klein's current status and why lawyers are involved. Does this mean a resolution to the problem is near? Or is speculation just too dangerous at this point? Plus, Josh and Kevin want to discuss Greg Vanney's management style and why Douglas Costa could be more at home in Brazil. I mean it makes sense? So should you be expecting a new Designated Player soon? We've got a lot to talk about. And we're going to keep it short and sweet! Join us for this little Corner of the Galaxy.

This looks to be our best chance actually to see a starting lineup. The internationals are back, Victor Vazquez and Samuel Grandsir should be arriving, and soon, we'll get to know the Galaxy that will start the season against Inter Miami! On today's show, we have a first. We get to debut a new song coming out in April that hits all the right notes. Even for these white boys, this is an excellent track that you should be playing on your way to the game, as you're tailgating and certainly after a win. We'll debut Arquitekto Verbal's "Riot at the Tailgate" off his 1996 album for you on our show! But hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira aren't just your wacky FM DJs. No, they're updating you on all the Galaxy news you missed this week. Josh and Eric will talk about the loss to New England and why Greg Vanney doesn't seem worried. Plus, did any of the younger players impress in their midweek run-out? And why did the second half go so sideways? Plus, the guys want to talk about the ticket event that took place today as Season Ticket Member's waiting in their virtual queues to secure tickets to the Galaxy's home-opener on April 25th. Then there's some discussion of Jonathan dos Santos and Efrain Alvarez and why they'll be joining Sebastian Lletget, Julian Araujo, Vazquez, and Grandsir in Tucson. What's so special about Arizona right now? Finally, the guys tell you why Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez got the biggest payout of any MLS player from the players' union and why the Galaxy hold a special place on TV for Major League Soccer this year (thank Athletic). We've got a packed musical episode, and we can't wait to get it started. Thanks for joining us!

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are getting ready for their preseason to ramp up. They've got a handful of games lined up, and this Saturday, we'll finally get a good look at what they might look like when Spectrum SportsNet broadcasts their match against the New England Revolution. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to get you ready for this week of training and what hurdles the Galaxy still have to clear. The guys will start by attempting to learn something from the two 60-minute scrimmages the club held against USL side San Diego Loyal. But with a starting lineup devoid of, well, starters, there is probably a reasoning Greg Vanney kept most of the big names off the field. But what does it say that Mauricio Cuevas and Auggie Williams keep making an impact on the first team with the minutes they're getting? Josh and Kevin will also talk about the four players away on International Duty and what that means for the Galaxy as they already face some severe shortages on the roster. But this week is the week to see Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos, and Efrain Alvarez play for the senior national teams, and you might even get Julian Araujo in one of the biggest matches of his young career. With the roster showing many holes in the preseason scrimmage, what are the Galaxy doing about it? And how optimistic are Josh and Kevin when it comes to the job the Galaxy have done? Where are the upgrades to the team from last year? There's some roster judgment going on, and the Galaxy aren't getting a passing grade -- not yet, anyway. Finally, the guys discuss how a 90-mile circle will make your preseason game watching a lot more difficult thanks to some stupid MLS rules, and how a rumor out of France has the Galaxy dipping their toes into the under-22 rule. Is this the change that could bring some exciting development money into the league? It's a packed show for a Monday night, and we're glad you could join us! - SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are back in preseason camp for the first time in 2021. And while the workouts may be voluntary, the club isn't treating it that way. On today's show, your hosts (Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter) take you through the first day of camp, through an exciting media conference call, and through a Galaxy signing that is on the cusp of being announced. The guys will start by talking about the first day of preseason training and why the word "voluntary" needs to come with quotation marks. How did the Galaxy fair in their first chance to run around and kick each other? And what did Greg Vanney see in his team for their first training session? Plus, the Galaxy want to add players. We'll tell you how many and why that matches-up with an earlier report we told you about. And the level of those players is higher than you think. We'll let Vanney tell you why he's got to make some TAM signings that will be good for the next five or more years. There's also some discussion on Jonathan dos Santos and his focus on his contract year and why he's shown some real dedication in the offseason. He even answered some questions in English, another sign he's focused on 2021. We'll explain. Finally, we bring you some CoG Breaking News as the Galaxy get ready to sign a 28-year-old defender who was born in Germany but plays his international soccer with Ireland. It's a packed show full of some great Galaxy-talk, and we're so glad you could join us! The season is just around the corner. Vancouver Whitecaps are back at it. Preseason camp is officially underway and it's been a pretty intense and competitive first week. We look at the big talking points from week one - who's stood out, who's battling for spots, and who looks like they might not want to unpack their suitcases. We sit down with 'Caps coach Carl Robinson for our fifth annual offseason in-depth discussion as we look at the year just past, how the new season might play out, the demise of WFC2, the role of John Park, the possibility of new additions, whether the 'Caps can compete in the big spending MLS, and more. We also chat with a player who finds himself in a unique position after more than 10 years in the pro game, as Canadian international David Edgar battles to earn a contract after missing all of last year through injury. We chat about all that, the appointment of John Herdman as new Canadian men's national team coach, and the exciting launch of the Canadian Premier League. All this and we look at the big stories in Major League Soccer this week, play another round of trivia, and pay tribute to a Wavelength favourite - the Fall's Mark E Smith, who sadly died last week.
