Episode 306 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Auf Wiedersehen, Pet with guests Alphonso Davies, Jordon Mutch, and Simon Colyn)

It's the end of the season and the end of an, albeit short, era as Vancouver Whitecaps 2018 MLS season came to an end on Sunday and Alphonso Davies said goodbye to the club, the fans, and the city as he gets set to head off to Europe to join Bayern Munich. We look back at the emotional day that was but also the frustration that was left behind with the final standings that saw the 'Caps finish just two points, and one win, away from a playoff spot. How close were Vancouver in reality and does the squad need a complete rebuild or build around a current core when the new manager comes in? We look at all that and more, and ponder which other players we may have seen for the last time. We also sit down with Alphonso Davies to talk about his three years with the Whitecaps and relive some memories with him of his time in Vancouver. Plus we chat with Jordon Mutch about the ups and downs of his first season in MLS and hear from young homegrown player Simon Colyn after his MLS debut. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:03.15: Vancouver Whitecaps chat - the Portland game, frustrations at just missing playoffs, pressure on new coach, what excites fans for next year54.32: Alphonso Davies interview and discussion77.50: Which players will be back, including Kendall Waston chat86.21: Jordon Mutch interview and discussion95.47: Simon Colyn scrum and young player discussion102.35: Wavelength - Los Campesinos - Every Defeat A Divorce (Three Lions)109.40: BC Soccerweb headlines - a look at some stories from around the football world

Episode 305 - The AFTN Soccer Show (It's Over Now)

All good things come to an end. And so do bad things thankfully. Whatever Vancouver Whitecaps 2018 MLS season was, their playoff hopes were finally ended this weekend after two varying performances against teams at the top end of the Western Conference. We look back at the week that was. The collapse and defeat to Sporting KC, the fighting back draw against LAFC, and some of the headscratching decisions that happened over the 180 minutes. So where did it all go wrong for the Whitecaps this season, and were we really all that far away or is there an ever widening gap between Vancouver and the top teams in the West? All this plus the MLS, USL, and Canadian national team news of the week, and we go Dutch for this week's Wavelength section. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:02.13: The Whitecaps Week That Was - KC loss and LAFC draw28.40: Vancouver Whitecaps 2018 - where did it all go wrong?56.27: MLS and USL news of the week74.55: Wavelength - Speedtwins - We Hate Football78.28: Canadian national teams chat83.52: BC Soccerweb headlines - a look at some stories from around the football world

Episode 232 - The AFTN Soccer Show (AB Positive)

It might be the offseason, but what a busy week for Vancouver Whitecaps. There were new additions, players leaving, new deals being discussed, transfer rumours, and more. We look at some of the big stories in Whitecapsland and in MLS this week and we also continue our Vancouver Whitecaps end of season review with a look at March and April. How did these months shape the 'Caps year to come? Episode 228 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Season's End)

Vancouver Whitecaps' season is over. Fizzling out with a whimper, and not a bang in sight. One shot on target over two matches against Seattle Sounders is inexcusable, but that's what we got. Now, the post mortem. Just what went wrong? Why were they so impotent? And what now for the Whitecaps? We look at all that and a lot more, pondering the way forward for Vancouver, Fredy Montero's future, and which players should be kept around for next season. Plus there's still time to look over the other MLS semi-finals and Chumbawamba make their Wavelength debut. Here's the full episode rundown:02.56: Seattle v Vancouver post mortem29.34: The season's over, what now?45.40: Fredy Montero's future51.20: What do Whitecaps need to reach next level?56.27: Whitecaps players In/Out/On The Bubble87.45: The other MLS semi-finals100.40: BC Soccerweb headlines112.28: Wavelength - Chumbawamba The AFTN Soccer Show is brought to you in partnership with BCsoccerweb.com, your one stop site for all your BC, Canadian, and North American soccer news and links.
