But we can't believe they have turned a corner, right? Didn't we ban that phrase from the podcast? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter go over the Galaxy's 1-1 draw and talk about the performance of Douglas Costa. Was Costa worthy of the team of the match win? And what stat did he match on Sunday morning? Can the Galaxy get a repeat of what seemed like a more motivated Costa? Did Greg Vanney have to talk to Costa to get him to show up for the Galaxy finally? And what about Chicharito? Will we ever see that man on a soccer field again? How would he want to go out? We've got a great show for you today! Thanks for listening!

Greg and Belz talk about the Nigeria friendlies and the USWNT player pool. Greg on the high floor and the "stupidly high ceiling" of this group, the lack of rhythm and patience in the final third, and how Vlatko needs to "manage the ambition" of his players to hit the hopeful home run ball.

Sandra Herrera and Lisa Roman prepare for the 2022 NWSL Season with a full Washington Spirit preview (2:34). Washington welcomes 2021 interim head coach and NWSL Champion coach Kris Ward to the helm as well as Y. Michele Kang as the full acting owner of the Spirit. Sandra and Lisa discuss what this means for the club having Ward and Kang as the leaders both on and off the pitch. This offseason for the Spirit didn’t showcase too many changes in personnel - retaining most of the 2021 NWSL Championship Team and even extending 2021 Rookie of the Year Trinity Rodman’s contract with a 4-year $1.1M deal (6:58). The losses suffered between defender Tegan McGrady and midfielder Kumi Yokoyama don’t hurt the team when they retain so many superstars (11:02). Sandra and Lisa run through the massive 38-player preseason roster for Washington (14:13), highlighting any starters for the team, young prospects to keep an eye on (18:56) and which experienced veteran needs to step up (23:24). The biggest burning question for Washington Spirit in 2022: Will we get a 2-peat? Can Washington Spirit win back-to-back Championships? Listen to hear the A3 projected finish for Washington Spirit (28:28). In the second half of the episode, Sandra Herrera and Lisa Roman welcome Washington Spirit defender Sam Staab to discuss her offseason and the start of the 2022 season for Washington (33:27). Sam talks about all of her teammates who are getting married and she was lucky enough to celebrate with this offseason - four weddings to be exact! Sam recognizes the amount of turnover in the club during the offseason and how that helps wipe the slate clean, but also the team is focused on tapping into the end of the 2021 season and building from that. Then, Sam discusses the biggest change having Kris Ward at the helm of the team. *This episode was recorded before the final Challenge Cup Rosters were released* 'Attacking Third' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. And we've got some major LA Galaxy storylines that need to be discussed! On today's show, host Josh Guesman is flying solo while battling a cold and updating you on all the Galaxy news that has happened and everything you need to know that's coming up. Josh will start by getting you through the Galaxy's "City of Dreams" kit and ask, "why are we naming kits?" Do you think the name adds something to the release? And is this more than just a plain white design with some colors? And is there anything wrong with that? And are the Galaxy calling Josh fat? But our host will then dive into the Galaxy's first pre-season loss and try to figure out why Julian Araujo isn't playing starting team minutes? Is Greg Vanney really planning on Araujo coming off the bench for Kelvin Leerdam? Is there a better explanation? Plus, will Derrick Williams's return or Douglas Costa's debut make waves on Saturday against DC United? And are those the main stories behind this last dress rehearsal before the season starts? And finally, Josh believes the Galaxy will be one of the best teams in MLS. And he's basing that off of a broken heart. Whose broken heart? The Galaxy's broken heart. Can the way the Galaxy crashed out of the postseason set them up for a revenge season? Was Real Salt Lake's goal in the final minutes of the season enough to motivate this team to get revenge on the whole league? Was this the shared disappointment that leads to championships? We've got a packed show, we've got some good discussion, and as normal, we have some of the best listeners in the world. What more could you ask for?

Kris, Rich and Jez debrief les Bleus' September international break. After two matches it looked like it was going to be a post-mortem but, after the 2-0 win over Finland, maybe France have stumbled over a blueprint for the future - with Griezmann at the centre of things of course! The question is will Mbappe put team over ego?
