A busy week of games including mid-week action had some big results that changed the fortunes of some struggling clubs, like San Jose, who just continue to look much, much better. We talk about the unnecessary Columbus SC rebrand, the struggles of some of the top clubs and even a little bit of NWSL's Challenge Cup.
It's Episode 98 of Side x Side and who better to have on the pod than the Man, the Myth, the Legend: Chad Marshall. Before the former Sounders FC defender could figure out how to click on his Zoom link, our hosts Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans discuss the record-tying start of Seattle's season (1:37). Then, two games to recap: first Sunday's big win at Portland Timbers (2:15 - 7:20) and Wednesday night's even crazier road win at San Jose (7:26 - 17:05). Chad Marshall joins 2021 and the podcast ...

Week 3 felt like a bit of a weird one but we saw some great results from Dallas and San Jose while a couple of teams really left us scratching our heads. It was all going so well for Galaxy and it remains well for the Sounders, and some CCL action seemed to throw off MLS play. Also Jim Curtin had some words for his Atlanta counterpart.

Week 2 brought many results that flipped last week's results, save for the LA Galaxy, who stormed past everyone through Javier Hernandez's hat trick. We talk about how fortunes favoured a lively San Jose side, TFC's ongoing ok-ness, and some splendid golazos.
In this episode of the Designated Player's Podcast, Adam and Andrew talk about JT Marcinkowski's recent performances and his impact on San Jose's results against the Galaxy and LAFC, as well as debate who should be the starting keeper for the USMNT. Should it continue to be Zach Steffen? Or has Matt Turner performed well enough with New England to merit playing time? Does someone else entirely deserve the number 1 shirt? We end the episode with a discussion on who the current best team...

Nick and Bates talk away trips to Montreal, the Whitecaps' record-setting performance in a loss to San Jose, a blowaway El Trafico and not fighting your own fans, as well as a starmaking display in Kansas City.

While some of our favorite teams continue to struggle, the LAFC juggernaut continues to roll (mostly over us) and San Jose, New England, and Cincinnati (?!) all begin to find their form. We also discuss what, if anything, changes now that the Women's World Cup is over.

In a not so great if you're a Canada or Whitecaps fan kind of week, we turn our attention to our beloved but still struggling Caps, some upsets in the Women's World Cup, and all the MLS matches of a busy soccer week. Most surprisingly, all of a sudden the team to beat in the league is... San Jose? We talk about the Quakes revolution as well as how teams like New England and Colorado have also been able to change their fortunes.

This week we tip our hats to Chris Wondolowski as he broke the all-time MLS scoring record in emphatic fashion. We talk about teams like LA Galaxy and San Jose getting a much needed boost, as well as where some clubs continue to just spin their wheels.

On a week where teams continued to keep 11 players on the pitch, we examine the very good, the very bad, and the San Jose in another wildly entertaining week of games. We also discuss just how much water is too much water and the unlikely ascension of some old MLS laughing stocks.

The ups and downs of Vancouver Whitecaps' season have been on full display over the past two games. In true Forrest Gump style, you simply do not know what you're going to get from them, apart from perhaps not that much satisfaction in their performance. We look back at the 'Caps capitulation against New York Red Bulls, and hear from both head coaches, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and New York's Jesse Marsch. What was behind the Whitecaps formation and performance? Did anyone stand out? Can we read much into how things played out? We also look ahead to next weekend's match up with San Jose, how the MLS West might play out, and talk World Cup qualifiers and Kendall Waston's big night. And there's still time to chat with Robert Earnshaw about his favourite season and talk take out food with Jordan Harvey.

What's gone wrong with the Vancouver Whitecaps? We look at their recent form and their most recent loss to San Jose. Is there still time to turn things around? We also chat with newest addition Giles Barnes and end on a positive note as we talk to two rising USL stars, Brett Levis and Spencer Richey.
