Premier League's Silly Sunday and Late Drama

This week, Musa and Ryan begin with the Premier League’s silly Sunday, full of curious decisions and moments of brilliance. They start by looking back at Chelsea’s commanding win over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, thanks in no small part to N’Golo Kanté’s second-half introduction (03:34), and how the result provided a rare statistical quirk with Liverpool, who won 3-0 over Crystal Palace (12:47). There are shouts to Aston Villa, Southampton, Watford, and Brentford (15:23), before they move on to the rest of Sunday’s Premier League games, including Brighton’s win over Leicester (20:31) and Manchester United’s dramatic result at West Ham (25:20). Then it’s off around Europe, beginning with Juventus’s draw with Milan that leaves them in the bottom three (33:36), late drama at Mestalla (39:01), Radamel Falcao scoring in his Rayo Vallecano debut (41:20), drama in Paris, where PSG left it late against Lyon (43:34), and some Bundesliga (51:52). Projected onto a bedsheet

Jimbo, Jack Lang, Duncan Alexander and David Preece dissect a big old week for English football teams. Man City deliver one of their best ever away performances to turn the Champions League semi-final against PSG in their favour. We pay tribute to the non-panicking Pep. Chelsea are in a similarly strong position after a 1-1 draw in Madrid, featuring Ngolo Kante and the strongest squad left in the Champions League. Looking ahead to the Premier League weekend, we’re not promising goals between Man United and Liverpool, whereas Newcastle v Arsenal tends to deliver those. There’s Leicester’s first trip to Southampton since a well-documented visit, plus the positives of Potter’s possible move to Spurs. James Horncastle and Julien Laurens do battle in an epic Inter Totally Cup encounter. Plus Kevin Keegan, David Icke and the song that used to soundtrack David Preece’s nightmares. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: PSG 1-2 Man City (04m 30s) • PART 2: Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea (21m 00s) • PART 3a: Southampton v Leicester preview (32m 00s) • PART 3b: Man Utd v Liverpool preview (40m 00s) • PART 3c: Tottenham’s manager hunt and Everton’s top 4 hopes (44m 00s) • PART 4: On This Day – Keegan and Icke make headlines (48m 00s) • PART 5: Newcastle v Arsenal preview (55m 30s) • PART 6: Inter Totally Cup – Laurens v Horncastle (61m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC FOR £4 A MONTH: • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow PARISH NOTICES: • we’re sponsored by Paddy Power - home of the Money Back Special READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com.
