Rushing to the wrong fire

Jimbo’s back and he’s brought Sasha Goryunov and Tom Williams with him as the knockout stages of Euro 2020 get underway. Denmark dismantle Wales 4-0 in Amsterdam as their fairy-tale continues to the quarter-finals. Niels Harild tells us why the Danes are daring to dream of a repeat of 1992. What will Gareth Bale do next? International football only? Golf? Italy need extra time to eliminate Austria at Wembley, with the beaten side showing just how good they are. Having seen glimpses of Belgium at their best, will we be able to see a classic with Portugal on the worst pitch at the tournament in Seville? And with no side showing themselves to be completely dominant, Michiel Jongsma fancies the Netherlands to go to the semi-finals as pessimism is replaced by arrogance. Italy's Extra Time & Denmark Breeze Past Wales

Italy were held to extra time in their first knockout game against Austria. A Federico Chiesa goal was needed to break the deadlock 100 minutes into the game. In the earlier game, however, Denmark easily got the better of a rubbish Wales and move on to the quarters. The Tifo team analyses the football of the day and also talks a bit about bath sheets versus large towels. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Big club football

Matt Davies Adams, Daniel Storey and Adam Crafton are here on the day of goals and destiny in the Euros. In Group F, F stood for fun as each team at some stage were bottom of the table or facing England in the next round. In Group E, we weren't expecting too much but Spain came to have a fiesta, with a hand from Martin Dubravka, whilst Sweden and Poland put on a five goal thriller. So have Spain finally arrived? And now all eyes turn to the Round of 16 which kicks off on Saturday with Wales v Denmark with the former left asking "are we the badies?" And we try to work out if there's any way past Italy for Austria. All that plus a dive into UEFA's "politics", some Euro 2004 action, and our updated predictions.
