So it turns out that cheaters actually DO prosper. At least in MLS under PRO referees they do. Vancouver Whitecaps' 1-0 loss to D.C. United, thanks to a dodgy winning penalty call, is a hard one to take. At least we now know what the D.C. aspect of the team stands for. But it wasn't all just down to that one call. The 'Caps did enough to win the game and their finishing, good goalkeeping, and the woodwork, all conspired to prevent that from happening. We look back at all the big talking points from the match and hear the thoughts of both coach, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and D.C.'s Ben Olsen [15:57]. We also chat with the Man of the Match, D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid and centre back Steve Birnbaum [53:04]. But the 'Caps have to put all of that behind them as they have a big game coming up this week with a Canadian Championship semi-final second leg in Montreal. We look back at the first leg, ponder what to expect from the second, and hear from two WFC2 players that made their competitive Whitecaps first team debuts last week - Dutch centre back Sem de Wit [73:32] and New Zealand defender Deklan Wynne [81:15]. And there's still time to look at the Whitecaps new training pitch and facility and hear the thoughts of Jordan Harvey, David Ousted, and Robbo on it and training on grass as opposed to turf [97:14] and have a quick look ahead to this Saturday's MLS match with Atlanta. What more can be said about Lionel Messi? Apart from a distinct lack of success at international level, he has...

Chris and Paul give their final thoughts on Emre Can’s incredible match winner as well as looking ahead to the next test against Southampton on Sunday. They also answer your questions including Jordan Henderson’s captaincy, John Achterberg’s adequacy and whether Daniel Sturridge would be a good fit at Arsenal! Hosted on Acast. What would make a Good Friday a Great Friday? Vancouver Whitecaps beating Seattle Sounders at BC Place, and making it even better yet is bringing you a special preview show for the first Cascadia Cup clash of the new season. We chat with 'Caps coach Carl Robinson about the task ahead, along with goalkeeper David Ousted and in what will be an emotional occasion for the Sounders all-time leading scorer, striker Fredy Montero. We also hear from the Sounders camp, with audio from head coach Brian Schmetzer, striker Jordan Morris, and Osvaldo Alonso. And there's still time to ask some of the 'Caps players and Robbo about last Saturday's snow farce. Have a listen!
To make up for last week's absence, it's an episode built entirely around your questions. Questions/topics include: Is it possible/efficient/useful for an international team to use a system that players aren’t familiar with at the club level? (3:50) Who is better now, and who has a higher ceiling, Christian Pulisic or Dele Alli? (17:00) What's up with the Netherlands and Argentina? (25:15) Is Arsenal's dependence on Cazorla more about him being great or Arsenal having a flawed midfield set up...

This week the lads focus on the Merseyside Derby, obviously. What do they want the starting 11 to be? Jordan Henderson or Emre Can? Everton haven’t won at Anfield since ’99! Get In The Bin is also back as they throw a much hated topic away. They also answer your questions, of course, including what their best ‘Home end of an Away ground’ experience was and ’Should we bring back Sakho’. Hosted on Acast. Bastian Schweinsteiger is coming to MLS! He will be joining the Chicago Fire and some people are saying this is a bad decision because he's too old and those people are right. Some people are also saying he won't help the team, and they would be wrong. It's going to be great for the Fire and the MLS to have Basti out there. Let's just hope he can keep up with David Accam during training. ATL v CHI, 4-0 - Josef Martinez is the best player in MLS, soft red card on Johan Kapelhoff COL v MIN, 2-2 - Minnesota gets a point!
