This week. It Was What It Was asks: What is it with Portuguese football? With Ruben Amorim arriving at Manchester United, there are now as many Premier League managers from Portugal as from England coaching this season. Portugal also has the fourth highest-quota of Premier League players (after England, Brazil and France). For a nation of just over 10 million, it consistently punches above its weight. Amorim’s rise to one of the biggest jobs in world football is located in the reform of Portuguese football in the 1980s - and specifically in the university faculty that helps turn out some of the world’s best coaches. Join Jonathan and Rob as we go back to school with Ruben Amorim, speaking to the mentors who forged him as a coach. It's a journey that takes in Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and super agent Jorge Mendes. Vicky Gomersall is joined by the The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports Football Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We start by looking at Manchester City’s decline, with a 4-0 loss at home to Tottenham on Saturday Night Football. Kaveh believes City can still turn it around. Next to Gary Neville’s exclusive interview with Ruben Amorim, who talks expectations, differences moving to the Premier League, and his non-negotiables. Elsewhere, Arsenal get their title challenge back on track beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 at home. Kaveh praises their physicality and defensive strength but have they let Liverpool gain too much of an advantage? Also, Natalie Gedra sits down with Bruno Fernandes, who talks of expectations on Manchester United and Ruben Amorim’s intensity in training. And Lynsey Hooper chats to Rodri, who sleeps with the Ballon d’Or, but doesn’t think the win has sunk in yet. Finally, Kaveh thinks Enzo Maresca has got Chelsea moving in the right direction after another win against his old club Leicester. Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast.
