Author of a plethora of books and now in a senior role at the legendary magazine 11FREUNDE, Uli tells Andy about his journey from the terraces at Westfalenstadion in his native Dortmund to his current status as one of European football's very finest storytellers, as well as giving us unique insights on the Jürgen Klopp phenomenon and what happened between the national team and Mesut Özil. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Jules & Andy: Welcome Old Trafford changes, Tanguy Ndombele's struggles continue, and another impressive Bruno Fernandes performance

Your favourite double act are back on Football Ramble Daily, here to distract you from talk of Coronavirus and cancelled football; it’s Jules & Andy! We begin today’s episode with the news that Manchester United have frozen their season ticket prices for the ninth season in a row. They have also announced an enlarged singing section within the ground and aim to move towards safe standing sections in the near future; we discuss how important these could be to improve an already-dwindling atmosphere that mirrors much of the Premier League. We then compare two recent continental signings and their vastly different impacts on the Premier League thus far, as Bruno Fernandes is already a fantastic addition to United, while Tanguy Ndombele faced further criticism from José Mourinho as he struggled in an inexperienced Spurs midfield. There’s even time for some correspondence, as we discuss the fallout around Charlton’s Jonathan Leko and what he felt was a lack of support from Kick It Out. The Ramble: Manchester is red, Chelsea give Everton a hiding, and Sheffield United dream of Europe

Maybe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer IS the Messiah after all His winger-cum-striker filled Man United team have found some consistency and a convincing win over Man City could just… help Liverpool win the title a bit sooner. Ah, well. Chelsea also had a lovely time as they thrashed Everton, with Roy Keane unnervingly effusive, while Newcastle continued their incredible season with a win over 10-man Southampton. We also had time to discuss the mystery of the missing points, hear the first and hopefully last entry into the Football Ramble Daily slash fiction canon and enjoy a guest appearance from Mitch Hedberg. At The Match: A Bundesliga II Special

It’s another At The Match episode from Germany, but this time Andy and Luke wander off the beaten track, and out of the top flight. The plan was for Andy to experience some fourth-tier football in Wuppertal but, as Uli Hesse (or Pyrolator) will tell you, it always rains in Wuppertal. Undeterred, Andy makes the most of his trip to Cologne to take in a game at Regionalliga West side Fortuna Köln, spending the afternoon on the open terrace with home supporter Axel, who’s been watching Fortuna since 1973, as they take on Schalke II. We talk about following football in the fourth tier, what it’s like playing top-flight clubs’ B teams and Oliver Kahn’s ringing endorsement of Südstadion. It rains torrentially here too, so we’re not missing out on anything. Then both Andy and Luke chase down Sunday lunch - copious helpings of currywurst, naturally - with an early afternoon trip to Bochum, where they dive deep into German fan culture. We hear about what makes Bochum stand out in such a crowded football region from Bochum ultra and filmmaker Gerrit and then witness an eight-goal thriller, perhaps the most thrilling match of our weekend. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. The Blizzard: Sheffield Wednesday 3-4 Tottenham, 1994

There’s a Tottenham flavour in today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard. We’re joined by The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke to discuss the opening day of the 1994/95 Premiership season, as Spurs took on Sheffield Wednesday. In his first full season in charge, Ossie Ardiles’ Spurs side looked to establish an exciting and intoxicating brand of football based on the technical skill of the European talent they acquired that summer. Ilie Dumitrescu and Jurgen Klinsmann were among those in this new-look, attacking Spurs side that played out a cracking match against Trevor Francis’ Sheffield Wednesday – featuring seven goals and one of the most infamous celebrations in modern English football. The Preview Show: Eric Dier takes centre stage, Liverpool lose again, and Steve Bruce goes from strength to strength

An action packed round of FA Cup fixtures gave us drama at Spurs, Chelsea exposing Jurgen Klopp as yet another bald fraud and a huge upset as Arsenal beat Portsmouth. Newcastle made it through too! They never do that! And on top of their win we also got to see 59 year-old Chris Waddle’s cool new hair. Away from the pitch, Pete promises to release some music aimed at kids while also making a niche request for some fanfic; we learn of Delia Smith making Daniel Farke feel at home with the personal touch; and try as best we can to figure out where the midlands is. On The Continent: Barcelona's uncharted territory, the impact of the Coronavirus in Italy, and German ultra culture

Greetings, one and all – welcome to a brand new episode of On The Continent! Andy Brassell’s in the chair alongside Nicky Bandini and Miguel Delaney to discuss another week of continental capers. We begin with a truly underwhelming El Clásico, as Barcelona’s struggles continue. We discuss the difficulties Quique Setién is facing as the first ideology-driven manager the Catalans have had in a long while, and wonder whether the era of Lionel Messi is nearing an end. We then swing over to Italy where, as well as trying to make sense of the widespread disruption thanks to the Coronavirus, we discuss Lazio lead at the top of Serie A, their first for ten years! There’s also time for a discussion about German ultra culture, after protests against Dietmar Hopp continue, and Daniel Sturridge’s worldwide ban from football. Fancy getting in touch? Ramble Meets... Carsten Cramer

On today’s Ramble Meets… we’re joined by a man at the forefront of one Europe’s elite clubs: Borussia Dortmund’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Carsten Cramer. Andy meets Carsten in Dortmund to discuss the club’s journey up to this point and their plans for the future. Carsten reveals just how important it is for the club to maintain a heartfelt connection with its fans, as it remains a permanent fixture of a small city fundamentally changed by the industrial revolution and the explosion of European super clubs. In this fascinating conversation, they discuss collaborating with Bayern Munich off the pitch while battling them for supremacy on it, as well as Jürgen Klopp’s legacy, the influence of Jadon Sancho and the magic of the Westfalen Stadium. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Jules & Andy: Watford's mesmerising performance, how Liverpool respond, and fans' right to protest

We're back with a brand new episode of Jules & Andy here on Football Ramble Daily, as Liverpool's momentous unbeaten run comes to an end. We praise the brilliant Watford performance that halted Klopp's side, as well as looking at how the Reds can continue their amazing season free of that extra pressure. And, after Andy's German football odyssey this weekend, we discuss the protests at Hoffenheim and ask the wider question pertinent to fans of any team: what can supporters realistically demand from their club? The Ramble: Liverpool are beaten, Wolves are on the prowl, and Man City win a third straight Carabao Cup

Well! Nigel Pearson and Watford shocked us all by showing that this Liverpool side can be beaten – though in doing so they did shut down some of the little remaining Narrative of the season. All the same, Pete was at the game with a Japanese hotelier he knows and by all accounts a great time was had. Elsewhere, Daniel Farke and Norwich turned the tables and got a surprise win over Leicester, Jose Mourinho bemoaned a lack of fairness and Man City won yet another Carabao Cup. The Blizzard: Manchester City 3-2 QPR, 2012

"It's finished at Sunderland, and Manchester United have done all they can. That Rooney goal was enough for the three points. Manchester City still alive here. Balotelli..." It was only a matter of time. On today's episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we're heading back to the most extraordinary final day of any modern Premier League season. We're joined by sports journalist and broadcaster Flo Lloyd-Hughes who, curiously enough, is a QPR fan. We recount that historic day as City overturned United's eight-point advantage in the last five weeks of the season and won the Premier League title on goal difference for the first time. And this all through the lens of Flo and the QPR fans around her who were swept up in the celebrations and partying alongside their home equivalents, as they were spared relegation by a Jonathan Walters goal for Stoke! The Preview Show: The Carabao Cup final is upon us, Bayern give Chelsea a lesson, and Liverpool are four wins away

It was big win for the little guy yesterday, as Man City beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu – but will the energy they exerted give Aston Villa a chance in Sunday’s Carabao EFL League Cup final? Will underwhelming hackers ruin Pep Guardiola’s preparations? We just don’t know. It is impossible for us to know. Back in the Premier League Liverpool take their war machine to Watford, laying the foundations for an intriguing set of potential narratives re: where they actually win the title. Brighton vs Crystal Palace is also happening, so naturally there’s a lot of discussion about murderous seagulls and ducks doing stand up comedy. Elsewhere, Jon Bon Jovi announces himself as an ITK, we hear some always welcome immature translations and we look back at some crass goalkeeping tactics of yesteryear. On The Continent: More Sarriball struggles, Guardiola bests Real, and Galatasaray get one over Fenerbahçe

Buenos días, and welcome to another episode of On The Continent - live from snowy London Town! David Cartlidge and Andy Brassell join Luke Moore in the studio to run the rule over this week’s Champions League fixtures, as well as some of the other continental goings on. We discuss Real Madrid losing their Champions League fear factor as they were beaten 2-1 by an impressive Manchester City, while Maurizio Sarri was left confused by his players’ lack of application of his methods as they were bested by Lyon. We also reserve some due praise for Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, wonder what’s going on between Lionel Messi and Barcelona, and recount some truly mental scenes from Galatasaray’s win at Fenerbahçe - their first in 20 years! David’s also bought his love for hate to our Games of the Week, as he selects an underappreciated Andalusian derby. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Ramble Meets... Dotun Adebayo

Andy goes back to the source for this week's Ramble Meets, hooking up with the great Dotun Adebayo MBE - writer, presenter, publisher and longtime ringmaster of BBC Five Live's World Football Phone-In. It was in the hallowed halls where Mr Brassell cut his broadcasting teeth alongside our guest and the legendary Tim Vickery. They discuss how football helped Dotun integrate into British society when he arrived from Nigeria as a six-year-old, surviving Swedish Sunday league and Dotun's thoughts on the rise of racist behaviour in European grounds. Plus, of course, they relive some of their standout WFPI moments together ("MR ANDY BRASSELL!"). Jules & Andy: Was the Premier League ready for VAR, are officials inadequately prepared, and how does FFP work in practice?

After another shambolic weekend of VAR, there was only one thing we could start with on today’s episode of Jules & Andy. As officials mishandle baffling clear decisions, we discuss the effect these mistakes has on players’ most visceral emotions while on the pitch and the lack of training for match officials. We also speak to former Premier League referee Peter Walton, who wonders whether the Premier League was even ready for VAR this season due to this lack of training and understanding. It’s not all VAR chat, though, as we take another look at FFP in light of UEFA’s decision to ban Manchester City from European competition. We examine what the policy aims to achieve in a wider context, how it works in practice and how clubs can spend their money on vast improvements without breaking any regulations. The Ramble: Chelsea beat Spurs, Shane Long scores an x-rated goal, and Arsenal are profoundly themselves

Olivier Giroud is back with a bang, as his perfect, handsome features reminded Spurs of what could have been after they missed out on signing him in January. Elsewhere, Brendan Rodgers kept an impressive lid on it while Eddie Howe looks like a man wobbling on the edge. On top of all this there’s Brad Pitt, Axl Rose, the return of Matej Vydra (again), more inbox terror and the gift that keeps on giving: Keane vs Carrragher. The Blizzard: Milan 2-1 Benfica, 1963

Today we take a look back at a game of genuine historical importance in European football history. On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re joined by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney to discuss the 1963 European Cup final between Milan and Benfica. This pivotal moment in the history of the European Cup cannot be understated; it represented two dominant teams at opposite ends of their respective cycles. Milan arrived as purveyors of a free-scoring, but still pragmatic, catenaccio and regarded themselves as significant underdogs. But, with their manager Nereo Rocco’s pre-match antics on the bus helping to lighten the mood, two goals from José Altafini denied Benfica their third consecutive European Cup. This was an early example of modernity in football tactics; a team winning on the strength of a tactical system with eleven components, rather than relying on eleven individuals beating their opposite man. Miguel's article for The Blizzard about this match is available here: https://www.theblizzard.co.uk/article/ac-milan-2-benfica-1 For more stories from the annals of football history, visit www.theblizzard.co.uk to explore their archives that contain over 700 articles of stories just like this one! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. The Preview Show: Champions League blows for Liverpool and Spurs, Leicester take on Man City, and Chelsea are having a wobble

It's a big week in the ol’ football, as European football resumes and Big Weng steps in to do something about the offside rule – something we’re all frankly a little unsure about. We even saw Liverpool lose, as Atletico took a 1-0 lead into their second leg match at Anfield, insulting the place as they did so. Let’s see how that pans out. That’s not all we saw; we saw Richard Blackwood haunting Spurs; we saw Barcelona cleverly manipulating time itself; we saw a bitten penis. And if even that isn’t enough, Cristiano Ronaldo and Pingu drop in to say hello. On The Continent: Miserly defending in Madrid, teenage kicks at Dortmund, and the fall of José Mourinho

It’s nice to have the Champions League back, isn’t it? Like a nice mug of warm cocoa on a cold midweek night. We give this week’s round of fixtures a thorough going over on today’s episode of On The Continent, which features Andy Brassell, Lars Sivertsen and David Cartlidge! We begin with Atlético Madrid’s hugely impressive win over Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano. We discuss the unwavering influence of Saúl Ñíguez on this Atléti side and their unrelenting commitment to miserly defending that infuriates their opposition. Afterwards, we check in with Lars for another episode of Håland Watch™, as the teenage sensation scored both goals in Dortmund’s win over PSG. David also talks us through Thomas Tuchel’s bizarre changes to PSG’s line up, Marco Verrati’s incessant stupidity and Neymar throwing the PSG medical staff under the bus. We also decide whether José Mourinho is finished as an elite European coach and assess Barcelona’s enforced signing of Leganes striker Martin Braithwaite! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Fantasy Five-a-Side: Doc Brown

Jim's delighted to be joined by actor, comedian, writer, rapper, screenwriter and voice of VAR at Selhurst Park, Doc Brown! His team is packed with ninjas, accountants (in this case the same man), a man so good his name replaced the word “volley” in the ‘90s, surprise packages and an overlooked all time great, cleverly gelled together by a figure who commands more respect than any other living being. There was also time to discuss the proliferation of bird-related iconography in football, those heartbreaking “what if?” moments that are a definitive part of being a fan and some not-that-surprising revelations about one Pete Donaldson. Jules & Andy: Man City's UEFA appeal, what's next for Pep Guardiola, and combatting further racism across the continent

We begin today’s episode of Jules & Andy with an in-depth look at the current state of affairs at Manchester City, as sports lawyer Daniel Geey joins us to explain the current situation after UEFA's ruling and what the immediate next steps will be. We then discuss whether it would be advantageous for City to seek an expedited appeal and try have this matter sorted before the end of the season, as well as assessing the futures of Pep Guardiola, their current crop of players and the wider City project. Then, in light of various shocking instances across football this weekend, we take a look at the latest attempts to combat racism suffered by players whilst on the pitch. Andy reveals how some have misjudged Porto’s players’ - and manager Sérgio Conceição’s - handling of Moussa Marega’s attempt boycott of their match against Vitoria Guimaraes, while we also discuss different ways fans and staff tackled the problem at Germany’s SC Preußen Münster and Atherstone Town respectively. The Ramble: Man City find themselves in trouble, Arsenal gub Newcastle, and Spurs break Villa hearts

Massive news from the rulings department of football as Man City face a potential two year ban from the Champions League. It’s potentially seismic stuff, and we are as measured and mature about the whole thing as you might expect. We also make time to discuss Joelinton’s woes in front of goal, and how they might be helped if he actually spent more time in front of goal, Sean Dyche motivating his players by showing them the opposition accurately describing their tactics and we’ve even got time to take a trip to Daniel Farke’s tuck shop. The Blizzard: Spain 1-5 Netherlands, 2014

We’re heading back to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard. The Guardian’s Jonathan Liew joins us to discuss the Netherlands’ 5-1 dismantling of Spain, as “Louis Van Gaal created something he loved - and then destroyed it.” Spain arrived at this tournament with the same formula that saw them win the preceding three as the likes of Xavi, Sergio Busquets and Andrés Iniesta looked to dominate possession. They took the lead and controlled the early exchanges in El Salvador but, with Louis van Gaal switching to a back three for this game, his Netherlands side took advantage of Spain's lethargic midfield. We discuss a fantastic game that featured scintillating goals from Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben, and saw the end of Spain’s possession-dominating era. The Preview Show: Romance in the air as Leicester visit Wolves, a mid-table clash at The Emirates, and a haircut for Jose Mourinho

Pete’s back, via the floor of Topman, and he brings with him some revelations about emails. The long and the short of it is that Jim is an idiot. You already knew that though, so let’s crack on with the other features of the show; Arsenal vs Newcastle! These teams are level on points and between them have drawn seven of their last eight. Is this just a bad season? Marcus Speller thinks otherwise and has stats from The Financial Sport to back up this theory. To top it all off we've got some backseat management from Carlos Carvahal, José's customary summer war chest and a golden opportunity for Wolves to separate themselves from the dross. On The Continent: Addressing European football's imbalance, Iker Casillas' presidential bid, and Jurgen Klinsmann slips off into the night

We welcome another esteemed debutant to today's episode of On The Continent, as Luke Moore and Andy Brassell are joined by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney! In light of Miguel’s recent piece, ‘How football became broken beyond repair’, we discuss the current imbalances within European football. As the top clubs earn huge swathes of money from Champions League performances and their international reach, competitiveness is being eroded across the vast majority of Europe’s leagues – we assess how this damage has been done and what can be done to remedy it. We also mourn the end of Jurgen Klinsmann’s totemic 10-week stint in charge of Hertha Berlin, as he moves upstairs, and wonder what he can provide in his new ambassadorial role. There’s also chat on Iker Casillas’ bid for the Spanish FA presidency and some cracking games of the week! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Ramble Meets... Clyde Best

We welcome a footballing icon to today’s episode of Ramble Meets… as Andy is joined by one of England's first black footballers, former West Ham striker Clyde Best! After choosing football over cricket in his native Bermuda, and becoming involved in the national side when he was just fifteen, Clyde flew across to London for a trial with West Ham United and went on to score 58 goals over seven seasons. Clyde sits with Andy to discuss the horrific racist abuse from the terraces and how teammates like Bobby Moore and Harry Redknapp helped him through it. Clyde also talks about some of his favourite moments from playing in England, gives some advice to the current generation of black footballers and reminisces about managing the Bermudan national team. This episode was recorded on 5th December 2019. Jules & Andy: Watching our teams as fans, Sheffield United’s European dream, and managerial legacies

We’re back with another episode of Jules & Andy on Football Ramble Daily! Jules managed to catch this weekend’s Brighton game as a fan, so there’s chat about the emotional strains of watching your team from the stands rather than in a work capacity. There’s also talk about Sheffield United’s march towards Europe and how brilliant that would be considering their comparatively modest status, despite some saying it would be bad for the club. The Ramble: Ancelotti’s Everton march on, Watford slip up, and Leeds wobble

It may have taken 34 Premier League games - and Jordan Pickford having one of his moments - but CHRISTIAN BENTEKE IS BACK! That’s what we’ve come to during this whole winter break thing. It will be worth it when Dominic Calvert-Lewin leads England to glory at Euro 2020. Of course, football exists outside the Premier League. Sammy Ameobi's making Leeds think they too may continue to exist outside the Premier League next season, as Nottingham Forest grabbed the win. The Blizzard: Celtic 2-3 Porto, 2003

“José Mourinho’s side hold on, and they’ve won the UEFA Cup! In this meeting of two former European champions, it is Porto who come out on top in Seville.” Yes, for today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re heading back to the 2003 UEFA Cup between Porto and Celtic alongside Kieran Canning, journalist at Agence France-Presse. This frenetic game brough the curtain down on Celtic’s most successful trophyless season, after losing the league by a point and the league cup final the week before. 80,000 fans (and one Jonathan Wilson) descended on Seville in the searing heat to see Martin O’Neill’s team take on a hugely impressive Porto side managed by the Special One himself. We’re back, with our most immature show of the season! If a Newcastle fan fires up the willycopter on live TV then what other choice do we have? On The Continent: Tensions rise at Barcelona, Roberto Soldado's back among the goals, and Gennaro Gattuso works on his night moves

We’re covering every single blade of European football grass on today’s episode of On The Continent, as Andy Brassell is joined in the studio by Lars Sivertsen and Nicky Bandini! We start with the recent high profile troubles at Barcelona, as Lionel Messi responded on social media to Eric Abidal’s outburst. There’s also time for a wider look at the Catalan side’s struggles over the last few seasons, as repeated signings haven’t worked out and fans intermittent fears that Lionel Messi’s final years are being wasted. Elsewhere, Roberto Soldado grabbed two goals to take Granada into the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey at the expense of Valencia, who themselves were left infuriated by VAR. We then swing over to Germany for a look at this week’s DFB-Pokal as elite own-foot-shooters Borussia Dortmund lost 3-2 to Werder Bremen, despite a cracking debut goal from American prodigy Giovanni Reyna. There’s all that plus the virtues of shooting from impossible angles, Gennaro Gattuso’s late night whispers and the upcoming Milan derby! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Jules & Andy: What next for Olivier Giroud, Newcastle's takeover rumours return, and office football chat

With February here, we’re taking a look at some of the fallout from a fairly lively January transfer window on today's episode of Jules & Andy! We begin with marooned striker Olivier Giroud who, after touted moves both within the Premier League and overseas never flourished, he remains stuck in the stands at Chelsea. We discuss where it's gone wrong for the Frenchman and how he may be able to squeeze himself into Frank Lampard's squad. We then take a look at the suspiciously timely rumours of a takeover at Newcastle United and run the rule over their own new loan signings. The Ramble: Liverpool go 22 points clear, Jose vs Pep has spice, and more woe for West Ham

Liverpool are brilliant etc etc. What more can be said of them at this point? We bow to our new Scouse overlords. Further down the depths of the table Man City got Mourinhoed in North London, West Ham West Hammed themselves in east London and Nigel Pearson’s Watford are dead after they turned a 2-0 lead into a 3-2 defeat against 10-man Everton. They are dead. This cannot be stressed enough. Dead. They are going to wish they’d never been born. The Blizzard: Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal, 1987

On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re looking back at the heady days of the 1987 Littlewoods Cup. John Cross, the Mirror’s chief football writer, joins us to remember the semi-final second leg replay between Tottenham and Arsenal! With Arsenal languishing in comparative mediocrity by the early 1980s, George Graham’s arrival begun a revolution at the club – and nowhere was this typified more than in this game. Arsenal, spurred on by the half-time announcement at White Hart Lane detailing how Spurs fans could buy tickets to the final, fought back to level the second leg and force this replay. John remembers this incredible game and its crackling atmosphere as David Pleat’s free-scoring Spurs side took on Graham’s resilient Arsenal for a place in the final against Liverpool, as well as the amazing story of David Pleat giving George Graham a lift home after a cup of tea and a sandwich! On The Continent: Madrid derby, the race for Italy's top four, and The Barber of Leipzig

Greetings OTCers! It's time for yet another episode of our European football show and today Luke and Andy is joined by Spanish football expert David Cartlidge to discuss all the big stories from around the continent. This week we look ahead to a big derby in Spain as Atletico, beset with muscle injury worries, head to the Bernabeu. What's become of El Cholo and his team this season? Meanwhile, in Italy, there's a race on for the top four, but Torino most certainly aren't in it. Roma, Atalanta and perhaps even Milan are though. Can Zlatan do the unthinkable and help this Milan side actually achieve something? Yep, there's all this and more - Leipzig's Ralf Rangnick getting annoyed at a celebrity barber, Hatem Ben Arfa making an appearance alongside the original Ronaldo, and Steven Bergwijn rocking up at Spurs. Ramble Meets... Joe Palmer

On today’s Ramble Meets… episode, Andy Brassell sits down with Joe Palmer, CEO of AFC Wimbledon, to discuss his fascinating career in football. Joe can trace his obsession for football back to the 1987 FA Cup final where his beloved Spurs lost to Coventry, and his love for the game has never wavered. After beginning his career at a PR agency selling stories for MUTV, Joe eventually found himself as the Executive Director of Strategy, Commerce and Marketing at Shakhtar Donetsk. He talks Andy through his incredible time at the club that began with Champions League knockout football and emerging stars, and ended with being evacuated from a developing war zone. Joe also discusses his current work with AFC Wimbledon as they are still searching for further investment to ensure the club can return home to Plough Lane this summer. Jules & Andy: A mid-season break, West Ham's struggles and can Liverpool go unbeaten?

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means: it’s time for another episode of Jules & Andy on Football Ramble Daily! We begin today’s show with a chat about the upcoming ‘mid-season break' that the Premier League is trialling, where it will split one round of matches over two weekends to give players a rest. Will this help reduce player fatigue as we head towards the Euros? Or will it simply result in a piling up of fixtures elsewhere? We try to answer those questions, and discuss Jürgen Klopp’s comments on the matter. Elsewhere, we look ahead to an intriguing midweek clash between West Ham and Liverpool. We discuss whether the Reds can go a season unbeaten and work out how West Ham might escape their current troubles. The Ramble: Shrewsbury rock Liverpool, Man United are BACK again, and it’s time for Newcastle’s annual takeover talk

Y’all ready for this? On today’s Milk Football Ramble we say the word “Cumdog” a frankly uncomfortable amount, but Shrewsbury’s Jason Cummings has given himself the nickname, scored twice to bring his team back from 2-0 down against Liverpool and so has given us no other choice. Elsewhere in the cup, the Bilić is back as Slaven’s West Brom knocked out his former club West Ham, Newcastle put on a show for their potential new owners and Man United turned on the style. As well as all that there are Evil Fulham fans, Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy and that word “Cumdog” again. Urgh. The Blizzard: Liverpool 2-1 Blackburn, 1995

On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard we head back to another epic Premiership finale. The Irish Times' and Second Captains’ Ken Early joins us to remember Blackburn’s title win on the final day of the 1994/95 season, despite a 2-1 defeat at Anfield. Blackburn needed to win or hope title rivals Manchester United didn’t beat West Ham, to clinch their first title in more than 80 years. Many Liverpool fans at Anfield found themselves in the curious position of wanting their team to lose to Blackburn and thus denying their bitter rivals the title, as their treasured son Kenny Dalglish sat in the Blackburn dugout. Ken, Marcus and Jonathan remember the buildup to this pivotal final day that was the culmination of this season-long battle between the definitive Premier League juggernaut and their new challengers looking to halt a third successive title triumph. The Preview Show: Man United are bad, but then so is most of the Premier League, so they probably fit in quite well

It's FA Cup time again! Let's all take a weekend off from how astonishingly bad the Premier League is and enjoy some red hot knockout action. Newcastle face Oxford, Chelsea and Arsenal lock horns, and Norwich try and spoil Burnley's post-Man United win party. We've covered it all in the way you'd expect, by talking about wagyu beef, Hollywood stars and moped thieves. Elsewhere, Marcus wants to praise Southampton, Pete doesn't know how to feel after Newcastle scored twice in injury time to get a draw against Everton, and there's another instalment of The Masked Winger. Who's under there, under the mask? Let's see if we can figure it out... This episode is sponsored by Betway. We're @footballramble on Twitter, and @footballrambledaily on Insta, so head over there to catch up on lots more Ramble stuff, including behind the scenes footage and lots more! On The Continent: Lyon's amazing academy, Jurgen Klinsmann's misplaced badges, and Taça de Liga scenes

We’re back with some more continental conversation as Luke Moore, Andy Brassell and Lars Sivertsen bring you another episode of On The Continent on Football Ramble Daily! After a fantastic Coupe de France performance we begin with a discussion on Lyon’s latest academy product, 16 year-old Rayan Cherki. We discuss his impressive technical qualities and also look at the wider history of exciting graduates from their academy’s illustrious history. After that, we check in with a struggling Hertha Berlin and their coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who recently couldn’t produce his coaching badges to Bundesliga officials after leaving them in a cupboard back in the USA - an apt metaphor for their season… Elsewhere we discuss some typically insane scenes in Portugal’s Taça de Liga, delve into the backstory of Braga manager Rúben Amorim and preview the Rome derby in our Games of the Week! Ramble Meets... Rick Edwards

It’s a meeting of minds on today’s episode of Ramble Meets… as Luke sits down with writer, broadcaster and Liverpool fan Rick Edwards! Rick can trace his fandom back to "picking the red team” in the 1986 FA Cup final aged six, and Liverpool Football Club has remained a significant pillar in his life ever since. He joins Luke in the studio to discuss his passion for football that has followed him since standing on the terraces at Molineux with his dad, right up to to being left distraught when Liverpool lost the 2018 Champions League final. They also talk more generally about football’s reflection of society, the club vs country debate and how it seems men only feel comfortable expressing emotion while in a football crowd. You can purchase Rick's new book: 'Hollywood Wants to Kill You - The Peculiar Science of Death in the Movies' here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hollywood-Wants-Kill-You-Peculiar/dp/1786496925 This episode was recorded on 20th November 2019. Marcus, Pete and Luke round up all the big stories from the weekend's football, stories such as Mike Dean's latest big moment, Roy Keane's latest argument and how Florian Lejeune would dispose of a dead body. We also debate the latest injury to an England hopeful, marvel at Steve Cook's athleticism and then find time to wonder who we think will get relegated from the Premier League this season. The Blizzard: Juventus 3-1 Real Madrid, 2003

It’s a Football Ramble Daily crossover on today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, as we’re joined once again by Andy Brassell! Andy joins Marcus and Jonathan to discuss Juventus’ spectacular 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the 2003 Champions League semi-final. The game was played at the notoriously derided Stadio delle Alpi on the outskirts of Turin. This, however, was different to the usually under-attended matches at Juventus’ ground, as Marcelo Lippi’s side played in front of rapturous home support. We discuss this gripping tie between two European heavyweights featuring the best and worst of Pavel Nedvěd, some questionable Real Madrid defending and an injury-enforced cameo from the great Ronaldo. It turns out that, if you’re after the coaching job at Barcelona, all you need to show the selectors is an undying love for Johan Cruyff. That’s one of the distinct conclusions we’ve come to on today’s episode of On The Continent... That’s right, reported fourth-choice Quique Setién takes charge of the Catalans - we discuss how he might actually be a success, while also assessing the legacy of the departing Ernesto Valverde.
