Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has discussed his mental health struggles

The Tottenham Hotspur forward still doesn't know if he'll participate in soccer's biggest tournament, but he already knows exactly what he'll do if he gets the call from Carletto. Leer

Tottenham forward Richarlison has admitted he held several talks with Paris Saint-Germain over replacing Kylian Mbappe at the club. The 28-year-old revealed he was keen to link up with Neymar at cl…

In the middle of growing speculation, Ancelotti made his stance unmistakably clear regarding Neymar’s path back into the squad. The future of Neymar has once again taken center stage as Carlo Ancelotti weighs his options ahead of the 2026 World Cup. With Brazil preparing for the tournament, uncertainty surrounds whether the Santos forward will make the final squad, adding intrigue to an already competitive selection process. The situation has grown even more compelling given Neymar’s recent struggles at club level, where consistency and fitness have remained ongoing concerns. As Brazil continues its preparations, the spotlight now shifts to whether the veteran can rediscover his best form in time to convince the national setup. Neymar’s journey back to the top has been anything but straightforward, with injuries playing a major role in disrupting his rhythm. Since suffering a serious knee injury in October 2023, he has struggled to regain sustained momentum, both physically and in terms of regular playing time. Despite returning to Santos, his appearances have been limited, and maintaining consistency has proven difficult. He has featured only six times this season in all competitions, scoring three goals, a return that hints at promise but still falls short of expectations for a player of his stature. The current year has been particularly challenging for Neymar, as he continues to search for rhythm following multiple setbacks. Neymar Jr of Santos. His 2026 goalscoring form has been inconsistent, raising legitimate concerns about whether he can reach the level required for international competition. However, upcoming matches present an opportunity to change that narrative. Each performance now carries extra weight, as Neymar looks to prove he can still deliver at the highest level and silence doubts surrounding his place in the squad. What did Ancelotti say? The mystery surrounding Neymar’s future was partially addressed when Ancelotti finally spoke about the situation. Brazil’s head coach has left the door open for the forward’s inclusion, provided he meets key physical and performance standards in the coming weeks. “He’s a great talent, and it’s normal that people think he can help us win the next World Cup,” Ancelotti stated in an interview with L’Equipe. “He’s currently being evaluated by the CBF, by me, and he still has two months to show that he has the qualities to play in the next World Cup.” One theme stands out above all others in Ancelotti’s assessment: fitness. The Brazilian national team is prioritizing physical readiness as it builds toward the tournament, leaving little room for sentiment. “I’m going to call up the players who are physically ready,” he added. Carlo Ancelotti greets Vinicius Junior of Brazil after being subbed. “After his knee injury, Neymar has come back well; he’s scoring goals. He needs to continue in this direction and improve his fitness. He’s on the right track.” This emphasis underlines the reality that reputation alone will not secure Neymar a place in the squad. Brazil’s competitive landscape complicates everythinmg Brazil’s attacking depth adds another layer of complexity to Neymar’s situation. With emerging talents, including Endrick, Luiz Henrique, Igor Thiago, Gabriel Martinelli, Estevao, and Vitor Roque, and in-form forwards such as Vinicius, Raphinha, Matheus Cunha, Richarlison, and Antony pushing for inclusion, competition for places is fierce. The national team, Brazil national team, has already demonstrated its willingness to move forward without relying solely on its biggest star. Neymar’s absence from recent friendlies against top opposition highlighted this shift, even as fans continued to chant his name from the stands.

RICHARLISON revealed bold plans as he pushed for a move to join his Brazilian idol at Paris Saint-Germain. The Tottenham Hotspur forward has even dedicated his back to fellow Brazilian Neymar with a mural tattoo. So, when Kylian Mbappe was set to leave PSG and the Champions League holders came calling, he was ready to...

It's a critical game on Sunday for the two teams directly below the drop zone and it's one neither will feel they can afford to lose! On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Tottenham Hotspur fan Ricky Saunders and Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns to discuss the latest at their clubs and a battle to survive that neither would have wanted to be a part of. There's also coverage of what fate may face Igor Tudor or Vitor Pereira should Sunday end in defeat, thoughts on the other competitors towards the bottom of the table and the systems that may be used in the game with both capable of playing either three or four at the back. Plus, there may be FPL interest too in some assets with Fantasy managers potentially looking at one week punts such as Richarlison or Morgan Gibbs-White and those who have used their Wildcard they may even want to look for a bit longer, because despite respective struggles the two teams sit as the top two on James' ticker for the next four gameweeks. Only 12 goals scored from 9 games so far in Gameweek 30 which means clean sheet returns for some, but lots of blankers for others. And the big winners once again may well have been Bruno Fernandes captainers who once again banked a double digit return at Old Trafford. All the games reviewed as Arsenal left it late, but extended their lead over Manchester City who dropped points at a resolute West Ham, but The Hammers still dind themselves in the bottom three after all their rivals also drew. 10 man Leeds held on fairly comfortably at Palace, Richarlison scored late to earn Tottenham an unlikely point at an underwhelming Liverpool who benched both Mo Salah and Hugo Ekitike, but Nottingham Forest it may feel like a missed opportunity after they failed to score against Fulham. Plus, a reminder of what could happen with the postponed Manchester City v Crystal Palace fixture, one and two week transfers on mind and longer-term views on players also covered for those without a Wildcard. Jimbo has Duncan Alexander, Tim Spiers and Adrian Clarke for company after what felt like a massive Matchday 30 in the Premier League. Arsenal leave it late to beat Everton but do so with 16-year-old Max Dowman becoming the youngest scorer in Premier League history. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, The Times’ Charlotte Duncker and The Guardian’s Jonathan Liew to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We begin talking transfers, and whilst Eberechi Eze looks likely to be on his way to Tottenham, the Alexander Isak saga continues as Newcastle look for necessary replacements. Tottenham Hotspur and TSG Hoffenheim disappoint on Thursday evening in Sinsheim, with Hoffenheim showing promising adjustments in the second half but still falling short. James is joined by fellow Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss all things Tottenham and begin by asking if the target for the season ahead must be qualification back into The Champions League. Rumours would suggest that the club may be about to make a push to sign Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, would he be the right fit and how interested should FPL managers have in him if the move happens? And what would it mean for the future of Richarlison? There are three players in the midfield bracket at 6.5 and their prospects are assessed, James Maddison's form remains a concern, Heung-Min Son is a powerful differential who the majority are currently overlooking and Tottenham may have the most exciting 4.5 midfielder in Lucas Bergvall. Plus, there's coverage of the brilliant youngsters in the Tottenham squad who may break into the first team this season, the backline is likely to look familiar and both Ricky and James are in agreement on the one Tottenham player they have to have in FPL. Hear from Jürgen Klopp, Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajčetić as Liverpool ran out 4-2 winners against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in the Premier League. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Andy Robertson scored for the second consecutive game to make it 2-0 right on the stroke of half-time. Cody Gakpo netted the hosts' third early into the second period, before Harvey Elliott added another in style with an emphatic, curling strike from distance. Ange Postecoglou's side rallied to halve the deficit thanks to goals from Richarlison and Heung-Min Son. Former Reds Jason McAteer and Chris Kirkland provide pitch-side analysis after the manager's penultimate Anfield outing.

On this week's Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd to discuss the latest at their clubs, the FPL assets of interest and preview Saturday's Gameweek 27 meeting at White Hart Lane. Champions League qualification now looks a realistic possibility for Tottenham, particularly if 5th is enough, but are recent performances/results and the amount of big chances being conceded causing too much alarm? While it's all change at Selhurst Park, with reflection on Roy Hodson's career and management of Palace and an introduction to new manager Oliver Glasner with detail of what we can expect from the Austrian manager. Plus, there's a big debate on Heung-Min Son v Richarlison with many tempted by investing in a Tottenham attacker this week, if Destiny Udogie is worth the saving over Pedro Porro (if both are passed fit) defensively, the impact of a likely return of Ebe Eze for Palace and whether we can expect 3.9 defender Chris Richards to keep his place in the Palace backline when Marc Guehi returns. It was a weekend with lots of goals in the Premier League and that meant some big swings for FPL managers in GW23 as Richarlison and Ollie Watkins returned big and there were also big hauls for attacking enablers such as Alejandro Garnacho and Matheus Cunha, but find defensive returns was far more difficult. All the games reviewed including Tottenham's draw at Everton, Villa's thumping win at Sheffield United, Manchester United's comfortable victory against West Ham and Arsenal won the big one, and deservedly so, against Liverpool. And despite defeat Liverpool assets appeal now that we know their fixture against Luton Town has finally been announced for DGW25. But their opponents Luton also have several excellent options and were involved in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Newcastle. There are eyes on how to manipulate the upcoming blanks and doubles, thoughts on Man City assets ahead of tonight's trip to Brentford and there are a couple of Premier League managers now under big pressure... and they meet at Selhurst Park next week! (if they haven't been sacked before then!) Jimbo welcomes Daniel Storey, Tim Spiers and Colin Millar onto the pod after a reduced but eventful weekend of football. Tottenham come from behind twice at Old Trafford to share a point with Man United. We look at the rehabbed Richarlison and the players that Sir Jim Ratcliffe can hang his hat on. Meanwhile Tim went to watch Jadon Sancho’s triumphant return to Dortmund action. The game of the weekend features the goals of the weekend and the return of Kevin De Bruyne in the Premier League as Man City snatch a dramatic 3-2 win at Newcastle. Can anyone stop him and City? And does Eddie Howe deserve criticism over his late substitutions? The picture at the bottom of the table could be influenced by events on Monday with Forest and Everton set to be charged for breaches of profit and sustainability rules, after a weekend when Reading fans protest against owner Dai Yongge and see their game with Port Vale abandoned. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Everton fan Sean Norton to discuss the latest at their clubs, including each's starving for a trophy and preview Saturday's GW18 meeting at White Hart Lane. Despite the absence of several key players, some of it self inflicted by suspensions, and a spell that saw them pick up 1 point from 5, Tottenham are 6 points off top and have 6 of the next 10 at home. The couldn't... could they...? 4 wins and 4 clean sheets on the bounce for Everton have taken them 7 points clear of the drop zone and without the ten point deduction Everton would actually be ninth. They now want their points back so they can challenge for Europe! There's lots of Fantasy discussion, including Son's positioning on the left and whether he should be captained this week by FPL managers. Pedro Porro is proving popular and so now is Richarlison after 3 goals in 2, but would Dejan Kulusevski or Brennan Johnson be a better bet? Plus, Everton defensive assets will now attract interest, and do the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeill offer a differential route to points. Are Spurs actually better without Harry Kane? ... Of course not, but new manager Ange Postecoglu's personality and James Maddison's 'swagger' are certainly helping the club move on. Today, Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic's Tottenham writer Charlie Eccleshare and data writer Thom Harris, to discuss their fast start to the season - as well as - to urge a little caution after just four Premier League matches. How James Maddison became the new 'technical leader', why Big Ange is the perfect manager for Richarlison right now, why Bissouma and Romero feel like new signings, the stark contrast to last season under Antonio Conte and why it's so difficult to replace a talismanic figure like Kane.
