On the return of Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by two of next weeks doublers, as Burnley fan Jack Toner and Brighton fan Sam Murray join the Podcast to discuss the latest at their clubs and that all those all important FPL assets. For Sam's Brighton there's lots to deliberate for FPL, with a number of the midfield up for detailed debate along with Bart Verbruggen, Jan Paul Van Hecke, and forward Danny Welbeck - but expected minutes on many assets may put many off. Should Burnley be ignored? Leeds' Cup victory against West Ham appears to have eliminated many of their assets from deliberations but there may still be interest in the likes of Martin Dubravka, defensive and midfield enablers along with forward Zian Flemming who's minutes per return ratio continues to look good. Plus, Burnley's road to nowhere continues under Scott Parker and concerns are already being raised about the difficulty the may face in The Championship next season, whilst Brighton's recent run of 4 wins in 5 has them back in with a genuine chance of European qualification. It was an unforgettable week for many FPL managers, and that included James, whose bench boost went bust with three no shows, but a score of 99 still meant a big jump inside the top 10k. For Suj it was a bit more forgettable. Infact, the only good news was a defeat for Nottingham Forest at Brighton, as Suj's West Ham and James' Tottenham once again fell to defeats. James welcomes Aston Villa fan Lee Jackson and Leeds United fan Ed Salinger on to Clash of the Correspondents ahead of the meeting between the two clubs at Villa Park on Saturday. The title may look beyond Villa, but there's still plenty to play for as they try and hold on to a Champions League qualification spot and they will fancy their chances of going deep in the Europa League too. A very enjoyable weekend of football in the Premier League that included comebacks, momentum shifts and late drama and some FPL haulers too in the likes of (substitute) Joao Pedro and the Liverpool pair of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Pedro and other Chelsea assets will take on greater appeal should they overturn their Carabao Cup deficit at Arsenal. The team that progresses now has a confirmed Double Gameweek in 26 and that may influence forthcoming moves with both have attractive fixtures this weekend too. But Chelsea were given a big scare against West Ham, The Blues completed one of a number of comebacks this weekend, as did Liverpool against Newcastle and Tottenham showed fight to come back from two down against Manchester City, who slipped further behind Arsenal. Whilst Manchester United let their own two goal advantage slip, but still won, with Bruno Fernandes again returning well for those who captained him, and he's likely to be even more popular this forthcoming weekend. All the games covered as usual and all the key FPL points deliberated. It was at the point that Crystal Palace announced their line-up at Fulham that James knew his luck was in. With Daniel Munoz absent from The Eagles squad with a knee injury, James was able to bank Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's 16 points and laugh about some brilliant bench jam. And it was just as well because it was a painful week otherwise! Luck or skill? You need a bit of both in this game. Suj joins James for a review of all the weekend games as Aston Villa beat Arsenal late, it was a late win for Palace too at Fulham and West Ham also lost a late lead at Brighton. There was late carnage to at Elland Road as Liverpool blew a comfortable lead, but it was events after the game and Mo Salah's interview that may prove even more damaging for The Reds. Another dramatic weekend for FPL reviewed which included Mo Salah leaving it late again and Erling Haaland dominating in the Manchester Derby. But perhaps the biggest takeaway this weekend was for defensive assets, with half the teams keeping clean sheets and there will have been a full house for many who invested in defensive assets on Wildcards and Free Hits. Gameweek 1 is nine tenths done and though there are some outstanding scores out there it has been a tough weekend for many FPL managers with a number of popular FPL assets blanking. All 9 games covered in detail and a theme from the weekend is a number of cheap midfield options performing well, and none have attracted more attention in the FPL Community than Manchester City's Tijani Reijnders, who is already up to 5.6 and likely to see continued investment. So was his dominant performance at Wolves a one-off or a sign of things to come? Antoine Semenyo and Hugo Ekitike are also early price risers following returns in an exciting Friday opener where there were mixed returns for FPL managers. Plus, players on radar for those on a Free Hit in GW2 feature not just Arsenal, Bournemouth and City assets, but those from Chelsea and Villa who blanked in 0-0 draws could be worth keeping ahead of respective trips to Brentford and West Ham who both conceded three on the road. So too, did Burnley, and there was more tactical variety on show from Thomas Frank's Tottenham who may well change system again at the weekend when they go to The Etihad.
