With just a few months to go before the 2026 World Cup, Lionel Messi seemed to suffer a major setback with Argentina, as Cristian Romero appeared to have picked up a serious injury. However, he has received an injury update that gives him hope of making it to the anticipated tournament. After shining in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers, Argentina stand out as one of the national teams favored to win the 2026 World Cup, aiming for their second consecutive title. However, Lionel Messi seemed to suffer a major setback, as Cristian Romero went off injured in tears in Tottenham Hotspur’s latest match. Despite this, the Argentinean defender’s injury extent has reportedly been revealed, keeping his hopes of reaching the anticipated tournament alive. According to Martín Arevalo, covering ESPN Argentina, Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero has been diagnosed with a knee injury, leaving him out for 5–8 weeks. Moreover, Gastón Edul, specialist covering Argentina national team, reports that he does not have collateral ligament tear, avoiding surgery. Nonetheless, the defender will not play with the English team this season, leaving them in a sensitive spot. As a defensive cornerstone for Lionel Messi’s national team, his potential participation in the anticipated tournament would be a significant boost. Not only was he key to the 2022 World Cup title, but he also remains one of the leaders in the dressing room. However, coach Scaloni will be the one to decide whether to call him up, as his match fitness could become an issue for the opening games of the tournament. Alongside Nicolás Otamendi, Cristian Romero has led a great era for Argentina, winning two Copa América titles and a World Cup with them at the back. In addition, Lisandro Martínez also emerges as a key figure for Lionel Messi’s side, providing stability to the team. For this reason, head coach Scaloni could opt to call him up, aiming to give him minutes so he can reach full fitness, as he is key both on and off the pitch. Cristian Romero of Argentina fights for the ball with Jonathan Osorio of Canada. Cristian Romero’s absence may truly affect Tottenham Hotspur Unlike previous seasons, Tottenham Hotspur are going through the worst moment in their history. After dismissing Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank, and Igli Tare, they find themselves fighting to avoid relegation to the EFL Championship. Because of this, Cristian Romero’s absence could prove to be the definitive blow to their season, leaving everything in the hands of Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven. In case his injury extend is confirmed, Cristian will miss the remainder of the season with his club. With only five matches left, the Argentine may not return in time to help avoid relegation under Roberto De Zerbi. As a result, they will have to place their season in the hands of Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven, moving closer to the EFL Championship than to staying in the Premier League. Tottenham are shocking at home, Fulham shocking away. Something has to give this weekend at White Hart Lane. Ahead of the game James welcomes Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Fulham fan Lewis James to discuss the latest at their clubs. Tottenham haven't won at home since the opening day in the Premier League and lost woefully at rivals Arsenal. How bad is it currently and does Thomas Frank already find himself under pressure? Fulham had an important victory against Sunderland on Saturday and over recent weeks there has been speculation around Marco Silva's future too. Plus, chat on whether FPL owners should hold the likes f Micky Van De Ven and Mohamed Kudus, if Joachim Andersen is the best 4.5 defender in the game, Raul Jimenez's prospects with Rodrigo Muniz injured, if Tottenham players are worth considering on a Free Hit and more. A good week to have a bad week? Probably. But for FPL managers who started any of Joe Rodon, Bryan Mbeumo or 23 point scoring Micky Van De Ven it was probably a good week. Suj and James even managed to sell one of the few other popular players who hit a double digit return, in Pedro Porro, who assisted one of Van De Ven's two in Tottenham's 3-0 win at Everton. But was the win as good as the scoreline suggests? All the games reviewed as the three promoted clubs all won, struggling West and Wolves were two of those on the wrong end of those results, while Chelsea were surprisingly beaten by high flying Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool lost again, this time at Brentford, and Manchester City were beaten too at Aston Villa, whilst Arsenal extended their lead with victory over Crystal Palace. Eagles assets will be popular this week, as will again Arsenal players, and Mbeumo will also be popular having scored twice in Manchester United's victory against Brighton which means they've now won three in a row. Everton's unbeaten start to life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium was ended in controversial fashion as Spurs defender Micky van de Ven's double and Pape Matar Sarr's late third earned the visitors a 3-0 win - but only after the hosts saw an equaliser chalked off by VAR for a contentious offside call. There's a reason we left this one until near the end... a week ago all seemed positive at Tottenham Hotspur, a win against rivals Arsenal, but a week on and James Maddison has picked up an ACL injury, others such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, who were meant to be back still aren't, and last night Bayern Munich handed Thomas Frank's boys a bit if a football lesson. Ricky Saunders joins James to discuss what that means for Fantasy ahead of an enticing set of fixtures. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven all still appeal at different price points and parts of the FPL community want one of Brennan Johnson or Mohammed Kudus. Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from Old Trafford and is joined by Jamie Redknapp, Darren Bent and Ashley Young who watched Tottenham comprehensively beat Manchester United 3-0. Gary Neville watched from the gantry as Spurs impressed and outclassed their opponents from the very start but United aided them with a lacklustre performance. Neville labelled the display as a ‘shocking and sobering day’ for the club. Redknapp agreed and believes Man United’s progression is going backwards, going on to say that ‘they’re at rock bottom at the moment’. The hosts' task was made even more difficult when Bruno Fernandes was dismissed for a high challenge on James Maddison minutes before half-time. The Red Devils captain spoke after the match and felt the tackle did not warrant a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh but admitted that he had let his teammates down. There is also reaction from goalscorer Brennan Johnson and player of the match Micky van de Ven, as well as both managers. Ange Postecoglou hailed his players’ performance, saying that they were a ‘joy to watch’. In contrast, Erik ten Hag conceded that Tottenham were the dominant side and his team were poor in possession. The United manager also avoided questions on whether the club is moving forward under his leadership, saying that 'it is not the time to talk about progression after such a defeat'.
