Premier League: 10 talking points from the weekend’s action

De Zerbi looks past Simons, Arsenal fans are not helping their team and Ngumoha can give PSG something to think about Football is such that, when you’re down, there’s a good chance the game boots you in the solar plexus, and that’s exactly what happened to Tottenham at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland’s winner coming by way of a deflection. But you can also take steps to help yourself and, though Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield setup made some sense – he picked three hard-runners in order to compete with Sunderland’s physicality – even pre-match, it wasn’t clear who would create their chances. It’s true that Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus are out injured, but in that context, it is surely even more important a place in the XI, whether in midfield or out wide, be found for Xavi Simons, left on the sidelines until the 85th minute. Simons is not perfect, but of the players De Zerbi has available he is the only one with the imagination and technique to make things happen. He may lack physicality, but what Spurs need more than anything is quality. Daniel Harris Match report: Sunderland 1-0 Tottenham Match report: Arsenal 1-2 Bournemouth Match report: Chelsea 0-3 Manchester City City improve in good weather, says Guardiola

Sem Kud've Done Better | Planet FPL S. 9 Ep. 17 | GW7 Review | Fantasy Premier League

It was a week that begun with Antoine Semenyo hauling again and finished with another goal for Erling Haaland, but the final card for many reads could've done better and that's the case for both Suj and James on the Gameweek 7 Review. Liverpool lost again with another blank for Mohamed Salah in their late defeat at Chelsea which means Arsenal, victors against Suj's West Ham, are now top, but it was a disappointing day for Viktor Gyokeres owners. James' Tottenham are now third but the result was again better than the display in victory at Leeds where Mohammed Kudus starred and returned well. All the games reviewed with eyes on moves for after the International break. Who's on radar? Who's for the chop? And there's a warning that a number of FPL forwards may be about to do well in forthcoming weeks. West Ham v Tottenham | CotC with Chris Stone & Ricky Saunders | Planet FPL 2025/26

It's the Planet FPL derby this week and James is joined West Ham fan Chris Stone and Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's meeting. And it's been a busy couple of weeks for both clubs off the pitch with the West Ham United Supporters Trust issuing a vote of no confidence in the board whilst after 24 years Daniel Levy is no longer Tottenham chairman. There's the fan view on both. And there's views on the pitch too, will West Ham stick with the back four that was successful at Nottingham Forest? And will Tottenham be better off without the ball as seen in games against PSG and Manchester City? But Xavi Simons may alter Tottenham's attacking quality, could he and fellow new man Randal Kolo Muani be options for Fantasy managers, or might there be better cheaper alternatives at West Ham in the midfield zone. Plus, Jarrod Bowen's form, if Aaron Wan-Bissaka will get his place back, best Tottenham defensive asset, thoughts on Ange Postecohlu taking over at Forest and we have a feeling that Mohammed Kudus 'might' get booed on Saturday. Tottenham Hotspur with Ricky Saunders | Correspondent Week ep.19 | Planet FPL 2025/26

There's a reason we left this one until near the end... a week ago all seemed positive at Tottenham Hotspur, a win against rivals Arsenal, but a week on and James Maddison has picked up an ACL injury, others such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, who were meant to be back still aren't, and last night Bayern Munich handed Thomas Frank's boys a bit if a football lesson. Ricky Saunders joins James to discuss what that means for Fantasy ahead of an enticing set of fixtures. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven all still appeal at different price points and parts of the FPL community want one of Brennan Johnson or Mohammed Kudus. Day 3 of Correspondent Week opens with Chris Stone joining James for a discussion on The Hammers and with an open day trip to promoted Sunderland there are a lot of West Ham assets worthy of consideration.
