Competitive football creeps ever closer with the Emirates Cup out of the way, the transfer window hotting up - Daniele De Rossi has signed for Boca Juniors! - and Mike ‘Flannels’ Ashley up to his usual shenanigans. He’s part of a rogues’ gallery that features a pumped up Diego Costa, a fictional version of Carlos Tevez and, somewhat out of left field, Gary McAllister. Enjoy. With so many of the game’s biggest prizes being played at once it’s a great time to be a football fan, especially if you’re of a Geordie persuasion. Steve Bruce’s mere presence was enough to get his Newcastle United revolution under ho-way with a seismic victory over West Ham. Alongside all this there’s embarrassment and contrition from Kilmarnock, a Burnley fan with a level of commitment that’d probably be better used elsewhere and a guest appearance from Bernie Sanders. We drag ourselves out of the sick bay despite our various ailments - stomach upsets, bronchitis, Townsenditis - to look over a fascinating weekend of football in which Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa took centre stage. What. A. Ruck. It’s exactly what we will not pretend we don’t want to see. We also look at David De Gea and his latest inopportune out of body experience, imagine what a deadly combination Ashley Barnes and Jamie Vardy would have been at school and learn of Andre Santos’ new life as a restauranteur. If that’s not enough there’s also an always-welcome update on the whereabouts of “emotional bloke” Kevin Keegan. Get involved. Mohamed Salah 'is a better human being than he is a football player' The National

In an action packed week, we were seeing 50 shades of blue as MLS teams donned their parley kits for Earth Day, which taught us... something about Earth? The Earthquakes bounced back, giants continued to stumble, and the Whitecaps very nearly played well over two games. We also cover some of the disconnect that seems to be happening between clubs and their fan base, especially with another walkout planned in Vancouver.

The top team are around the grounds building up to today's kick-offs, including Hearts v Rangers and Hamilton v Motherwell. Then, you have your say on the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard Openline...

In another week of unpredictable games and results, we look at some teams that are starting to right their respective ships, and also at some MLS giants who seem to be a long way off. We talk about behaviour from players as well, including a rare moment of taking Ibra's side and of course we talk about Kaku kicking a ball at fans.

The boys are missing the devil so they go balls deep into Spurs. But; we also cover the relegation fight, top 4 battle, Champions League (duh), praise Ajax, mourn(inho) Man United, and look forward to shitting ourselves today with Tottenham's Champions League matchups. We missed our devil man, though.

On a week where teams continued to keep 11 players on the pitch, we examine the very good, the very bad, and the San Jose in another wildly entertaining week of games. We also discuss just how much water is too much water and the unlikely ascension of some old MLS laughing stocks.

Another dramatic weekend of football as Liverpool and Spurs keep it topsy-turvy, Huddersfield get relegated, and the referee’s assistant and Neil Warnock put on a show at Cardiff, with Callum Hudson-Odoi having the best seat in the house. Elsewhere we have Uri Geller, Jim’s medical adventures, Luke’s inspiring day out at Wembley and so much more. Get yourself on board. Ismail Matar supports appointment of 'big-name' Bert van Marwijk as UAE manager The National

International football is back! There could be very exciting times ahead for the home nations aside from poor Northern Ireland, who have a draw Michael O’Neill called “very cruel”. England have an exciting crop of players coming through, Scotland look as strong as they have in years and Wales could do well if Ryan Giggs has got time to be around and coach them. Away from the international stage we have news of a Dickie Borthwick TV appearance, an email section with a jealousy-inspiring spend and the tantalising prospect of the first ever Order of the Ramble Empire… This show is sponsored by bet365 Search ‘Football Ramble’ on social media to find us, and email us here: [email protected] ***Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your pods. Thomas Muller now has more time for family after 'negative surprise' of Germany axe The National

The FA Cup quarter finals are over and they were full of late goals, VAR controversy and sort-of-but-not-quite cupsets, the Championship had an outfield player in goal, and in the Premier League Javier Hernandez’s impressive under-the-radar goal return justified the West Ham spend that everyone’s jealous of. As well as all this, Wes Morgan wins Brendan Rodgers’ Epitomising the Humble Attitude of the Group Award, Paul Scholes has enough and we learn of a delightfully specialist app, link below. European competition is back and while PSG take a 2-0 lead back to the Parc de Princes against an injury-hit Manchester United, the Europa League sees Rennes play Arsenal - this pits Kris against Rich, with Jez and Phil chipping in on the other stuff.

Under Sarri, Chelsea appear to be momentarily faltering in the Premier League. With a potential transfer ban on the horizon, how can the new manager get his squad working for him? And what's happening with Abramovich's alleged desire to sell the club? We examine the on and off-field on-goings at Chelsea Football Club. Hosted on Acast. We're back, and so is French football! Phil, Jez and Rich have a look at how things stand at the midway-ish point (some December games yet to play) after 2019 opened with a cracking round of Coupe de France fixtures including 10 (ten) upsets. These including Angers being knocked out by sixth-tier regional team Viry-Chatillon, Gazelec Ajaccio ditto by Noisy-le-Grand, and the one you may have heard about, OM falling 2-0 to National side Andrezieux. The team also rounds up the Coupe de le Ligue quarter-finals and their favourite transfer rumours.

A busy weekend as the North London Derby produces another classic, Mark Hughes collects another P45 and Jordan Pickford has a moment to forget. Particular highlights include the welcome return of Tim Sherwood embarrassing himself. There’s also the Scottish League Cup final, in December, further news of footballers egging innocent members of the public, and a very testing time for Partick Thistle. After an international break, Kris, Phil, Conor and Jez round up how France have finished 2018, and look forward to the next round of Ligue 1, including OL v Saint-Etienne on Friday.

Whisper it (like Phil Neville would), but things look like they’re changing for the better at Arsenal. We look back on a pulsating draw with Liverpool at the Emirates, Newcastle finally getting a win and Southampton’s utter calamity of a defensive showing against Man City. Blimey. On top of all this there’s a return for Wayne Rooney, as well as a certain fireplace-based anecdote, yet another baffling football statue and a come-and-get-you plea from a team in Australia. The FFW Towers bug continues (sorry about the coughing) but doesn't stop Kris, Phil, Jez and Rich from rounding up the results in Ligue 1, Thierry Henry's poor but explicable start at Monaco, Montpellier in the sunshine, Lille's changing approach, whether Ligue 1 is worth watching, the European competitions, and much else.

There's a bug going around FFW Towers, but this won't stop us rounding up France's matches against Iceland and Germany, Thierry Henry taking over at Monaco, and the matches to look out for as Ligue 1 comes back for round 10. Plus, Deschamps' pyro birthday cake for his 50th, a Charles Aznavour tribute at Armenia v Gibraltar, and a Ligue 2 round-up.

England played their so called Ghost Game with Croatia and it was so eerie that everyone forgot to score or even really do anything of note. Spain are up next, who don’t look too bothered having just thrashed Wales. There are also Scottish woes, Welsh cheese and Northern Irish hard cheese, youth football dads, Usain Bolt showing what he’s about, the smell of what Gibraltar are cooking and the quiet acceptance of another song.
