Adam Hurrey is joined on the Adjudication Panel by Charlie Eccleshare and David Walker. On the agenda: reviewing a perfectly-formed set of FA Cup quarter-finals, Ally McCoist combines three subtly different cliches into one, the technicalities of a "see-saw thriller", a potentially terrible football-chant-based TV game show, England strikers' names in 1980s cartoons, the future prospect of Diego Simeone in the Premier League and the universal potential of the phrase "lost a yard". Meanwhile, the panel get stuck into the newly-launched Premier League Archive, which contains highlights of every single top-flight game since 1992. And the heat may end up costing Greg Vanney his job. After the loss to Minnesota at home, the Galaxy now have to travel to Toluca, where they have to try and get back on track as a crazy April rears its ugly head. Welcome back to It Was What It Was, the football history podcast. Co-hosts Jonathan Wilson and Rob Draper continue on from last week’s episode with Jan Fjortoft to delve into how things went wrong for Graham Taylor during his time as England manager. In this first part of a three part series on Graham Taylor (following our episode with Fjortoft) we take a look at the high of Italia ’90 to the early warning signs of Graham Taylor’s troubled England reign, setting up the wider story of his eventual downfall. Central to the episode is Paul Gascoigne’s rise into “Gaza mania,” the off-field chaos and disciplinary problems that followed, including the 1991 FA Cup final knee rupture and subsequent setbacks. Taylor struggled to manage both the player and the circus around him. England qualified for Euro 1992 but drew twice, lost to Sweden and Taylor’s substitution of Gary Lineker became emblematic as tabloid ridicule culminate in a reputational collapse for Taylor. 01:05 The Impossible Job Era 07:39 Referees And Rotterdam 12:47 Italia 90 Reality Check 20:02 Gaza Mania Begins 25:31 Euro Qualifiers Begin 28:24 Ireland Away Selection 30:08 Taylor Press Tightrope 35:48 Cup Final Knee Rupture 41:46 Euro 92 Sweden Turning Point 42:55 Lineker Sub Controversy 47:50 Fitness Gap And Refuelling 49:32 Turnip Taylor Tabloid Sting Hosted on Acast. No team has ever won a quadruple, but it doesn't stop us getting excited about the possibility every season. This year, Arsenal were in the conversation before they were dumped out of both the FA Cup and the League Cup. Alas, the quadruple is out of reach for another season - but will it ever be done? Marcus, Jim & David reach a verdict on that, before picking our all-time favourite players to have dragged their careers back from the brink. We also entertain the idea of restricting how often teams can change managers in a season (sorry, Spurs fans) and, inspired by the Artemis II launch, decide which players we'd take to the moon. Barcelona move seven points clear at the top of La Liga after coming from behind to beat Atlético Madrid. Marcus Rashford returned to the starting lineup following Raphinha’s injury and capped off an impressive display with a goal, if he maintains this form, is he a shoo-in for England’s left side this summer? Real Madrid, meanwhile, suffered a shock defeat to relegation-threatened Mallorca. Why do Los Blancos continue to struggle in the league while consistently delivering in the Champions League? And if they fall to Bayern Munich, could Álvaro Arbeloa find himself under serious pressure before the season’s end? Elsewhere, Gary and Alex discuss the remarkable performance from Lamine Yamal. Despite shining, he left the pitch frustrated at not getting on the scoresheet, does that mindset show he has the drive to become one of the all-time greats? Dean Holdsworth joins us this week, taking us inside the madness of the Crazy Gang and the sheer brilliance (and chaos) of eccentric owner Sam Hammam, who once famously “kidnapped” him to get a deal over the line. Starting out at Watford alongside his brother David, Dean recalls their early days winding up the formidable youth team boss Tom Walley. But after struggling to break into the first team, his journey took an unexpected turn including the bizarre moment he ended up in another club’s team photo… without ever signing for them. Fast forward to the peak Crazy Gang years, and Holdsworth was flying, going toe-to-toe with the likes of Shearer, Ian Wright and Teddy Sheringham in the race for the Golden Boot. Add in stories of chaotic pre-seasons, a team bus being burned down, a terrifying knife incident at Goodison Park, and plenty of classic Vinnie Jones antics, and Holdsworth brings to life what it truly meant to be part of Wimbledon’s most infamous era. After it all, he reflects on his time at Bolton and his later role as chief executive, where he helped save the club from the brink of administration, only for things to turn sour in dramatic fashion. Arsenal’s FA Cup exit, coming just two weeks after their Carabao Cup disappointment, leaves their season at a crossroads. With two trophies already gone, could Mikel Arteta’s side really finish the campaign without silverware, and should there be growing concern at the Emirates? Meanwhile, Manchester City delivered arguably their performance of the season in a statement win over Liverpool. Are Pep Guardiola’s men hitting top form at exactly the right moment, and does the result leave Arne Slot under pressure? Elsewhere, Chelsea ran riot with seven against Port Vale, but does the scoreline paper over the cracks? With Enzo Fernández handed a two-game ban, is Liam Rosenior attempting to assert control in the dressing room? Plus, the guys discuss the chaos at the London Stadium as West Ham and Leeds played out one of the games of the season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy. Are Arsenal bottling it? Is Arne Slot lost? Can Leeds or Saints win it?

Welcome to another Arsecast Extra, the Arsenal podcast, with myself and James from @gunnerblog. In this episode we look back at Saturday evening’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Southampton, a game which has scratched at some old wounds/worries about this Arsenal team. We chat about team selection, and individual errors that punctuated the performance […] The post Arsecast Extra Episode 689 – 05.04.2026 appeared first on Arseblog ... an Arsenal blog.

Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Martin Samuel, Jason Burt and Jack Rosser to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We kick things off with Southampton’s huge FA Cup quarter-final win over Arsenal at St Mary’s. After back-to-back defeats, are Arsenal’s hopes of a successful season slipping away? Next stop, the Etihad—Manchester City in full flow, a 4–0 demolition and a Haaland hat-trick sealing their place in the FA Cup semi-finals. Is this as bad as it’s been for Liverpool fans under Arne Slot? Next, Chelsea—7–0 winners over Port Vale at Stamford Bridge. After a turbulent spell, is this the reset they’ve been waiting for? And is Jason right to criticise the decision to give Enzo a ban? Finally, De Zerbi to Spurs—after one too many ‘nice’ appointments, have they found someone to deliver some home truths and shake things up?Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. With the international break completed, the Orange & Blue square against a familiar foe in a not-so-familiar landscape. The red side of New York wants to forget 2025 so badly that they have tweaked their team name and made a big name their new head coach. Michael Bradley’s first five matches have been a mix of progress and regression, with Red Bull winning twice but losing two of their last three. So how do the Red Bulls return to prominence after missing their first MLS playoff in 15 years? Will the fountain of youth in the academy fuel New York’s offense? Are there any warm bodies that can help on defense after their 6-1 loss at Charlotte? We sit down with our good friend Mark from the Seeing Red Podcast to recalibrate and recognize this altered state in the Empire State.
