The Premier League is up and running, and so are Man City and Liverpool - both of whom recorded eye-catching wins against Arsenal and West Ham respectively. Elsewhere there's chat about a hard day at the office for Fulham, and a look at Wolves' point against Everton. As the Marcelo Bielsa era gets up and running, we wax lyrical about the effect the big Argentinian is having at Elland Road, and also find time to lament yet more poor behaviour from a Newcastle fan, this time at the Home of Football. Jose's Judgement: United raise the curtain against Leicester, Emery makes his Arsenal bow, and West Ham's new boys head to Anfield

It's the first Preview Show of the season! Huzzah! And what's more, there's plenty of football to sink our teeth into. First up, Manchester United host Leicester City at Old Trafford, which will undoubtedly give Jose Mourinho something to moan about. Elsewhere across the weekend, there's an Arsenal face off against champions Man City in a stern test of Unai Emery's credentials, West Ham take a trip north to Liverpool, and Southampton host Burnley. Obviously, there's plenty of the usual combi boiler chat as the listeners slowly start to get involved, more nonsense from the enigmatic Pete Donaldson, and a welcome return for Going For Glold. School's back in: Pep and City pick up another trophy, Sarri doesn't know his size, and Warnock's back in the big time

Hello again friends, we're back and bloody excited for the new season! And there's plenty to get our teeth into as well - Pep Guardiola's Man City outwit Chelsea in the Community Shield, but we're still a way away from the full Sarrification of those Blues. There's also transfer news a go-go, particularly at Liverpool, and Jose Mourinho seems to be on a one-man mission to undermine everything at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, the Championship is back with a bang, and Pete spends quite a bit of time comparing the show to a big bouncy castle. A tortured analogy, and probably not the last one you'll hear from him this season, let's be honest. Episode 275 - The AFTN Soccer Show (System Addict with guests Stefan Marinovic, Simon Colyn, and Marco Carducci)

Vancouver Whitecaps head into their bye week (call it what it is) unbeaten in six and starting to find some attacking form. The defence is still looking a bit dodgy and they still struggle at times when they have a man advantage, but there's a lot more optimistic feel around the place than it was perhaps a month ago. We look back at the 'Caps five star win over Orlando on Saturday - the highs, the lows, and how some of the players are shaping up at this near midway point of the season. We also hear postgame comments from both coaches, Orlando's Jason Kreis and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. We have three interviews for you this week. First up, the 'Caps Kiwi keeper Stefan Marinovic talks about his injury, rehab, and when he expects to be back in the starting line-up. Then we catch up with Vancouver's latest homegrown signing, Simon Colyn, as we talk about his first professional contract, the Canadian championship, and more. We also have more Canadian Premier League chat for you this week as we look at the addition of teams in Winnipeg and Edmonton, and we chat with former Whitecap Marco Carducci about his hopes for the league and playing for his hometown club in Calgary. All this plus a review of what happened in the MLS Western conference this week, Wavelength, BC Soccerweb headlines, and more. Episode 274 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Horseplay with guests Tommy Wheeldon Jr and Will Cromack)

Sunday's AFTN Soccer Show on CiTR radio was so packed, we've had to release it over two parts. This second episode of the three hour show focuses on the Canadian Premier League and the PDL. We kick things off with some PDL chat, looking at TSS Rovers great start to the season that's seen them go unbeaten in their last five matches to sit joint top of the standings. We chat with coach Will Cromack after a six point weekend that saw them lift their first piece of silverware. After that we turn our attention to the Canadian Premier League. It's been a good and a bad week for fans hoping to see teams here in BC. Victoria look set to be in for 2019, but that's the expense of the Fraser Valley bid. We look at what we know about both potential teams journey so far and what lies ahead for both clubs and also the Victoria Highlanders. But one team that definitely will be there for the start of the CPL in 2019 is Calgary's Cavalry FC. We chat about the ins and outs of the team, and hopes for the league, with current Foothills FC head coach, and soon to be Cavalry FC head coach and GM, Tommy Wheeldon Jr. All that plus Black Grape feature in this week's Wavelength section, and BC Soccerweb headlines looks at some stories from around the world of football. Another week, another draw, another week, another match of individual errors, another week, another game of frustration. Welcome to Vancouver Whitecaps World 2018. Strap yourselves in, it's a bumpy ride. The 'Caps made it four draws in a row on Saturday at home to New England. Now they just need two more in the next two games to set a league record. Go team! We look back at the points dropped to the Revolution, where it all went wrong, where it all went right, and where do we go from here. Plus we hear from both head coaches, New England's Brad Friedel and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. AFTN writer Chris Corrigan joins us in the studio this week to talk about all that and a lot more. We also take a look at the latest news surrounding the Canadian Premier League and the latest rumours about teams here in BC. Plus how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, TSS Rovers talk, and Pete Green makes his debut in our Wavelength section with a Grimsby Town related tune. La Decimocertero: Real win three in a row, Fulham and Rotherham up, World Cup fev-o-meter goes into overdrive…

So, club football is all but done for another season, and how. We look back at Gareth Bale’s acrobatics, Sergio Ramos’ villainy and Lorius Karius’ tragedy after one of the stranger Champions League finals. We also look at Fulham’s promotion at the expense of Aston Villa - profoundly not the play off championees - Rotherham’s Wembley victory and the usual stuff like funk, goalkeepers with exploding hair and the delightful development of Martin Allen being on press release duty for Chesterfield. Episode 269 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Never Say Dai - Dallas v Vancouver analysis, Marcel de Jong and Kekuta Manneh interviews, Canadian PL chat)

It's a long weekend, so we have an extra long episode of the AFTN Soccer Show for you as we took over the airwaves at CiTR radio for two and a half hours on Sunday night. Vancouver Whitecaps showed a never say die spirit in Dallas on Saturday afternoon (or should that be Dai with a Welshman in charge?), fighting back from 2-0 down to score a couple of very late goals to earn the unlikeliest of points. We look back over the dramatic afternoon and chat about the main talking points coming out of it. Plus we hear from both head coaches, Dallas' Oscar Pareja and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. We've got two feature interviews for you this episode. First up is Whitecaps' Canadian defender Marcel de Jong, as he joins us to chat about the stability of signing a new contract extension. Then former Whitecap Kekuta Manneh joins us to chat about his move to Mexico, Columbus Crew falling short in their quest for last year's MLS Cup, and what it means to his hometown of Austin to possibly be getting a new MLS team. We also take a look at the latest news surrounding the Canadian Premier League, in what's been a big week for them. Plus how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, Whitecaps midfielder Jordon Mutch talks television, and The Others make their debut in our Wavelength section. Piano Man: Wembley hosts a thriller, City hit 100 points and Wenger and Carrick say goodbye

Another Premier League season comes to an end! Elsewhere, absolute banter-volcano Marcus Speller makes a final push for Jonjo Shelvey to be on that plane, Jose Mourinho consolidates his power and Pete bathes in a glorious Newcastle win.
