Italy are European champions. Jimbo, Carl Anka, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, David Preece and Daniel Storey review a wonderful night for the Azzurri but a heart-breaking night for England who lose on penalties at Wembley. Gareth Southgate’s side take a very early lead but are pegged back and worn down by their opponent. Like the 2018 World Cup semi-final but worse. It’s an inspirational group of players but in hindsight, did England throw this Euros away? And did they play that much football in the tournament? As for Italy, we salute a team that every other team made changes to their system for. And of course, they had the amazing Chiellini. The star of this Italy team and finally a European champion. Jimbo, Daniel Storey, Carl Anka and Sasha Goryunov react to a fantastic night for the Three Lions in Rome. England cruise past Ukraine 4-0 and into the last 4 of Euro 2020. A performance that was everything we wanted it to be – ruthlessly efficient and an absence of jeopardy. We salute Southgate, Shaw and the Sterling Kane partnership. They will meet Denmark in the semi-finals at Wembley after the Danes dispatch the Czechs thanks to Joakim Maehle’s caramelo. But are they a bit overrated? Jimbo is alongside Duncan Alexander, Charlie Eccleshare and James Horncastle as Italy & Spain set up a semi-final meeting at Euro 2020. Roberto Mancini’s Italy knock out the number 1 ranked team in the world in Belgium, in a performance that has everything. How have the Azzurri managed to put together this 32-game unbeaten run? And why wasn’t Mancini more in demand? Spain are victorious on penalties against 10-man Switzerland but are hugely wasteful in front of goal again. Alvaro Romeo tells us why the Spanish might be about to click, through unity and conviction. But do they lack personality? In Saturday’s quarter-finals, it’s Czech Republic v Denmark and then, England v Ukraine in Rome. Yevhen Muzyka tells us why Shevchenko isn’t as popular as you might think. The Group of Heck is over, and Kris and Jez have a late-night meet-up to review Portugal 2 - 2 France which put France top of the group as Germany also drew 2-2 with Hungary. This sets France up with a match against Switzerland in the round of 16.

France top the dreaded Group F, followed closely by Germany (who now face England in the Round of 16)! Portugal sneak through in third, and Hungary exit as expected. Plus, Spain finally unleash the goals, and Sweden impress against Poland. The Tifo team administers the final group stage round up before a couple of days off! Hosted on Acast. Dan Bardell reunites the Sunday night England Show podcast team of Flo Lloyd-Hughes and Carl Anka to review another 1-0 win for England. Gareth Southgate's side finished top of Group D with seven points and three clean sheets. Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire got valuable match minutes, and surprise starter Bukayo Saka gave an excellent performance. Yet, there were still moans. It wasn't the most eventful second half, and Harry Kane looked a little sluggish again. So, have we got what it takes to beat France, Germany, or Portugal? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Matt Davies Adams, Tom Williams, and Daniel Storey are here as England top Group D and as Scotland bid farewell to their first tournament in 23 years. So Scotland are out but what does it mean? We ask The Athletic's Jordan Campbell who's live at Hampden for his reflections on a heartbreaking night for the Tartan Army. More positive scenes over at Wembley though, well for 12 minutes anyway, as Sterling netted again and England top the group and look at facing, erm, France/Germany/Portugal/Hungary! Speaking of which tomorrow is today and today is the last day of the group stages, and there are still two groups to sort out. Namely Group E and F where it's looking concerning for Spain and rather brighter for Germany. All that plus we hit a few bum notes. RUNNING ORDER PART 1: Heroes to Villains (01m 30s) PART 2a: Scotland 1-3 Croatia with Jordan Campbell (03m 30s) PART 2b: England 1-0 Czech Republic (12m 30s) PART 3a: Wembley capacity (24m 30s) PART 3b: Spain v Slovakia preview with Alvaro Romeo (28m 00s) PART 3c: Sweden v Poland preview (35m 30s) PART 4a: Hungary v Germany preview (39m 00s) PART 4b: France v Poland preview (42m 30s) PART 5: The Odds with Paddy Power (46m 30s) PART 6: Big bums big help (50m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC FOR £1 A MONTH FOR YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS: • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow PARISH NOTICES: • we’re sponsored by Paddy Power - home of the Money Back Special READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. England enjoy a divisively comfortable victory over Czech Republic on their way to winning Group D. Next stop, runners up from the Group of Death (otherwise known as Group F). Scotland, on the other hand, have exited at the group stage, and a dismayed JJ Bull tells all. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Game 2 and things are a bit problematic; Kris, Jez and Phil look back over a 1-1 draw with Hungary, and the build-up to the key final game on Wednesday against Portugal. Also, Germany's bounce-back against the title-holders, and the sad loss of a legend of social media. Shortly after the game, it was announced that Philippe Vignolo - @Philousports on Twitter - had died of a heart attack. It's a measure of his 'petite notorieté' (his words) that this was announced mid-match by Omar da Fonseca on live TV, various France players paid homage to him just hours after they had got off the pitch, and the French press, sporting and not, have published tributes. Au revoir, Philou. Tu nous manques déjà...

England and Scotland finished goalless, which disappointed the English and cheered the Scots. Still, it's not Leeds is it? And Leeds will soon be playing PL fixtures in a shiny new stadium. That's the real quiz. With levisolicitors.co.uk/thesquareball Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Matt Davies-Adams, Duncan Alexander and Dom Fifield react to a day of record-breaking goals and record-breaking passes at Euro 2020. The Tartan Army’s return to tournament football is an unhappy one as Patrick Schick inspires Czech Republic to victory from the halfway line. Did Scotland prove they are genuinely unlucky? Or are they just not clinical enough? Sweden channel their inner Palace to stifle Spain and draw 0-0 in Seville. Alexander Isak looks the real deal, Alvaro Morata – not so much. Slovakia overcome Poland who continue to struggle for goals at major tournaments, even with Lewandowski. France face Germany on Tuesday – with the Mbappe Giroud spat stealing focus, is there a chance Les Bleus could implode? And Hungary will face Portugal in front of 60,000 fans in Budapest. Tomasz Mortimer tells us how far the national side have come in a short period of time. Matt Davies-Adams is in the hot seat in the company of Carl Anka and Daniel Storey after a dazzling Day 3 at Euro 2020. England exercise real control and relaxation in their opening game as they defeat Croatia at Wembley. A great day for Phillips and Mings as Southgate’s team selection is completely vindicated. And he can afford to not even use Grealish or Sancho. Netherlands and Ukraine contest the game of the tournament so far as the Dutch win 3-2 in Amsterdam. And an angry Arnautovic seals victory for Austria over North Macedonia. Which is more interesting than their kit or nickname. Scotland’s first tournament game in 23 years is against the Czech Republic on Monday. The most important game they’ll play in this group stage? And Spain and Sweden face off in Group E with Morata and Isak both looking to show their worth. A sunny evening for a victory lap in Sandy, Utah. Wingers with ideas, a hold-up striker, and Tyler Adams and Yunus Musah in the midfield.

The first-ever Nations League final vs Mexico delivered! What a night! We've got a full recap including a detailed timeline and a few big picture thoughts.

Dan Bardell welcomes Florence Lloyd-Hughes and David Preece to the show for reaction to England's last warm-up fixture before the belated 2020 European Championships. It was another 1-0 win and it had plenty more in common with the Austria game as Gareth Southgate selected a side featuring mostly fringe squad players, some who won't make the final 26, but at least one who will. James Ward-Prowse will hope to take the spot vacated by Trent Alexander Arnold but Ben White could be a dark horse with Harry Maguire's fitness still a doubt. Jack Grealish has started the last two friendlies, providing dynamism and a cutting edge, and he is fancied by some to make the starting XI against Croatia. Sam Johnstone almost certainly won't feature, but he will be a reassuringly solid third choice between the sticks. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
