Podcast: Galaxy hit a home stretch that continues with Real Salt Lake. Joveljić is in LA.

SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- If you're the LA Galaxy, you need to be looking at the next two home games as six points. But August is a long month, so any home game the club plays will need to win if they want to position themselves for a race to the finish. The Galaxy are nearing the midway point of the season. Are you ready for what this next month brings? Hosts Josh Guesman and, filling in for Kevin Baxter, Larry Morgan discuss the news over the weekend, and what a busy Monday means for the Galaxy front office. Josh and Larry will start by going over some of the live show highlights and maybe some of the information that was deposited during that wacky 90 minutes. And if you have listened, you should probably give it a shot. But the guys also want to take a big picture approach to the 4-1 win over Portland. And Josh certainly intends to shine a light on how the Galaxy won that game; by growing into it. There are also players to talk about and why Kevin Cabral had his most significant jump forward in a Galaxy uniform on Friday night. Is he ready for more? Josh and Larry will also talk about the players returning from Gold Cup and why Jonathan dos Santos was expected back in LA today but found himself in Mexico City instead. Will that change some of what Greg Vanney told us in our wide-ranging media call today? Plus, you'll get to hear from Vanney and goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, as both had some fascinating insight into what this group is trying to accomplish on Wednesday and beyond. Finally, Josh and Larry will get you updated on Dejan Joveljić and why he's in Los Angeles as you listen to this show (assuming you're listening on Monday or Tuesday) and what the Galaxy can expect from a good, but not great, Real Salt Lake. There are many points up for grabs for the Galaxy this month, and if they want to stay where they're at, they better win most of them!

But Dallas presents some exciting challenges. Can a depleted and road-beaten Galaxy do something that no other team has done yet? On today's show, host Josh Guesman is joined by guest-host Christian Miles -- the voice of the Galaxy's radio broadcasts -- to discuss the events surrounding the club's first draw of the season. Did the Galaxy learn from a poor start against Real Salt Lake? And can they take those lessons into the match with Dallas? Josh and Christian discuss the changes that saved the game on Wednesday night and why Greg Vanney is starting to get his adjustments spot on. Rayan Raveloson -- yes, we have the pronunciation from him, again -- is tearing up MLS, and he's doing it at a pace better than another big name Galaxy player. Will that last? And what did Julian Araujo bring to the table in the game-tying goal? What makes the youngster so good? But one player is struggling. Maybe he's a bit lost in the system, but can Kevin Cabral start to produce for the Galaxy? And why is it important to get him out of the middle of the field? Finally, Josh and Christian want to get you ready for the weird and wacky things that happen in Dallas. Are the Galaxy prepared to take another step forward on Saturday night in hostile territory? Get tickets to our live event on July 31st, and thanks, as always, for joining us!

So what happened in a clearly flat performance? And can they fix it before the face-off against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the loss the Galaxy sustained and why Greg Vanney believes his team couldn't find the answers against a Whitecaps side that hasn't won many games. But first, Kevin will update you on his 26-hour trip to cover the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. And why you couldn't take a penalty kick in his hotel room. Or maybe why he has a murder alley view. The guys will give you audio from Vanney as he explains what a short bench means for the current team and why he expects more from his starters. And can you look at the starting lineup the Galaxy put together and start complaining the club didn't have the horses to win this game? Josh will pull out some charts that tell you where the Galaxy compare to other seasons and why, even though they lost to Vancouver, they're still in a good spot when it comes to their road record. In fact, they're in a very good place. But they need to keep winning games on the road. And that probably means against Real Salt Lake. Josh and Kevin will preview the match against RSL and discuss why this is a team the Galaxy should beat. But they're not a bad team. They just haven't won a lot of games through the first third of the season. Is this a case of the Galaxy being the better team? What kind of reaction do you expect after losing to Vancouver? Can the Galaxy keep their streak of not losing consecutive games? We've got a packed show for you today, and we can't wait to share it with you!

The LA Galaxy signed a 21-year-old as their youngest Designated Player in club history. But when we first were looking at Kevin Cabral, we had assumed the Galaxy were going to get him under a different Mechanism. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou discuss why that all changed and what that means for a team that is now out of Designated Player slots. And does this really mean the end of Cristian Pavon? Let's face it; Major League Soccer does a horrible job of explaining all the rules to everyone. Josh will do his best to give you an advanced crash-course in why Cabral isn't going to be signed under the U-22 Initiative and why the Galaxy are still calling that a win. And how much are they paying him? If the reports are accurate, Cabral just got his first big payday. But why is Samuel Grandsir also another important signing to the success of Cabral? And why are the Galaxy so sure on a 21-year-old that has a lot of upside but not a lot of experience? During the show, Josh and Sophie will make sure they get their thoughts in on the Galaxy's preseason draw with the Colorado Rapids and tell you why Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake could be a crucial match. But they're also going to highlight some Galaxy II signings that have some first-team impact, get you through another retro fashion drop and make sure you're following along with the Galaxy's new supplemental development deal. Maybe your kids will be at Dignity Health Sports Park to be assessed by the Galaxy Academy coaches. Guest Dennis te Kloese and a trip to Portcouver to end 2020

COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/9g8FcfU COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- We're going to be honest. We thought this show would let host Josh Guesman ramble on about the LA Galaxy draw with the Seattle Sounders and why they played better than against Real Salt Lake. But instead, about a minute before we went on air, LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese said he'd be available for some questions. So we dropped him into the show and talked about all things Galaxy for over 30 mins. So while this show was going to cover so much about what happened on Wednesday night, instead we ended up talking with Dennis about scouting, the timing of the firing of Guillermo Barros Schelotto, analytics, Cristian Pavon's future, and why Dennis is still the best man for the job. Along the way, we'll talk about Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, why the Galaxy keep having Designated Players that are always injured, and what things Dennis has done to make the Galaxy better. And will Dominic Kinnear be given a fair shot at this head coaching job? Dennis talks about Kinnear and what he has meant for this club. Along the way, Josh will give you some injury updates, talk about Jonathan dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget both being called up to their respective national teams, and why the game against Vancouver will still be a serious affair. The season is almost over, the Galaxy are still playing to keep from being the bottom of the conference, and we've got a GM on the show. Sounds about right for 2020! A big thanks to Dennis te Kloese and the LA Galaxy for coming on the show and talking with us. Enjoy this surprise interview and don't forget to tell your friends and family about our show!

Podcast: Kinnear finds a Galaxy win, but Playoffs still a reach

COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/9g8FcfU COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy got the win under interim head coach Dominic Kinnear on Sunday night. But they'll need two more wins like that, and some help, if they're going to even think about the postseason. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's win over Real Salt Lake, what changes Kinnear made, and how Giancarlo "Pipo" Gonzalez turned in his best performance in a Galaxy kit. Josh and Kevin will start the show with their observations about the starting lineup, what it looked like to have Kinnear and Jovan Kirovski on the bench, and why a small tweak ended up with a Man of the Match award to Gonzalez. The guys will also discuss the play of Julian Araujo, David Bingham, Emiliano Insua, Perry Kitchen, Cristian Pavon, and Yony Gonzalez. Did Kinnear find a starting lineup that is more predictable than the rest? And what did Zubak bring that no one else on the field can offer? Next, Kevin will get you through the playoff scenarios and the needed results for the postseason to be a reality for this underachieving club. Can the Galaxy get there? Would they deserve it? But the Galaxy's next opponent is the MLS Cup Champions from last year. Why are the Seattle Sounders looking to bury the Galaxy and end any dreams of the playoffs on Wednesday? Finally, the guys do a quick dive into the Galaxy's possible coaching candidates while ESPN is reporting that Robbie Keane, is in fact, being looked at for the manager's position. Don't worry, we've got a bunch of names for you, and most of those are sure to be wrong! We've got a great show lined up for you as the club comes down to the wire in 2020! Can the Galaxy make the playoffs? Is it still the "hope that kills you?"

It was probably a necessary step for a team that has struggled with any positive momentum throughout the Covid-affected year. So with Dominic Kinnear in charge of the Galaxy for the time being -- his second stint as interim head coach -- how did we get to this point once again? On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira dive into the timeline of events that led to Schelotto's sacking on Thursday afternoon. The guys start with some weird injury announcement from Chicharito. Was his Instagram post out of line? And how many conspiracy theories can the guys come up with when it comes to the $15-million man? Then it's off to discuss the Galaxy's abysmal loss to the Portland Timbers. Did Dennis te Kloese know that he was going to have to fire Schelotto after the game? And what did he say at halftime that gave us some clues on which way he was leaning? Then the guys dig into the announcement of Schelotto's firing and what te Kloese had to say during his afternoon press conference. In fact, we'll give you pretty full coverage of the press conference during the show to get you caught up on everything that was said during the entire event. Finally, the guys will go over all the rule changes MLS put in place to get the 2020 season done and dusted and why the Galaxy might have a slightly better chance at getting into the playoffs with the points per game governing their outcome. There's even a little game preview of the Real Salt Lake game coming up this weekend. In total, we've got over 90-minutes of important Galaxy-talk. Don't miss it! And thanks for joining us tonight!
