VAMOS Special with Herc Gomez and guest, Diego Forlan 01/11/24, Presented by Camarena Tequila

"I would say, try not to attack too much vs. Uruguay because the counter-attack will be very difficult for the USA team to defend, which was something that we've done for so many years. Now I think it's a little bit different (...) Maybe at the moment, Uruguay is a team that tries to pass the ball and wants to go to the goal directly." Herc had a candid conversation with Diego Forlan, Uruguay's legend, Copa America Champion, former Manchester United player, and the current ambassador of La Liga in Spain. Diego shared why he and the Jabulani ball were a trending topic during the World Cup South Africa 2010 with Uruguay. He also delved into his friend Luis Suarez's recent signing with Messi's Inter Miami, Manchester United's current situation, his role as an ambassador in La Liga, and some Copa America 2024 talk. Plus, Herc shared his thoughts about the recent rumors of Alphonso Davies transferring to Real Madrid. England's 2010 World Cup revisited: Squad disharmony, Rooney's outburst & Lampard's 'ghost goal'

In a special one-off episode, Dharmesh Sheth revisits England’s dismal 2010 World Cup campaign and explores why it went so wrong for the Three Lions out in South Africa. He speaks to four members of that squad – Jermain Defoe, Robert Green, Stephen Warnock and Matthew Upson – who talk candidly about England’s preparation, lack of squad camaraderie and the methods used by manager Fabio Capello. Green opens up on his infamous mistake in the first group match against the United States, while Defoe discusses Wayne Rooney’s angry outburst following the goalless draw with Algeria. Warnock and Upson talk on the poor atmosphere in the squad and why the experience of that World Cup should serve as a warning for England ahead of any major tournament. England's exit at the hands of Germany is also discussed, including what may have been had Frank Lampard's 'ghost goal' have stood. The Blizzard: Zimbabwe 4-1 South Africa, 1992

On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we look back to a match that represented a symbolic moment in the modern histories of two nations. The Sunday Times’ Ian Hawkey joins us to discuss Zimbabwe's first qualifying fixture for the 2014 African Cup of Nations, a match played in his then-local Harare. Bruce Grobbelaar, who hadn’t represented his native Zimbabwe for several years, was called up on the same weekend that the Premier League began and a bench spot under new signing David James beckoned. He decided to fly to Harare just three days before the game and, after much political deliberation around his dual citizenship status, he was allowed to play. This strengthened the side’s Premier League connection, as Coventry City’s Peter Ndlovu also played for the country and excelled in this game. This marked the arrival of Zimbabwe’s ‘Dream Team’, a national side that will be remembered with a folkloric appreciation, as they dismantled a new-look South Africa side in front of nearly 50,000 fans in their national stadium and set their sights on a historic international achievement.
