Lauren Harris joins James to preview The Women's European Championships that kick off in Switzerland tomorrow, and England's Lionesses will be among the favourites. But they haven't been helped by the draw and England are at risk of an early elimination should things go badly from a Group that also contains France, The Netherlands and Wales. The lopsided nature of the draw means Spain should breeze through to the Semi Finals and it does guarantee one of the lesser nations reach the final four. To get to that stage England won't have to just navigate their Group of Death, but also a likely Quarter Final against Sweden or Germany, the two sides England beat to lift this trophy three years ago. All 16 nations covered, best players to keep an eye on, England's likely line up for their opener on Saturday and there are two Fantasy formats on the tournament covered too. But the core of the episode is backgrounders on the USMNT's group opponents in this upcoming tournament. No huge surprises but you will surely be able to impress at cocktail parties with a little more depth on Bolivia's mediocrity and Panama's relative strength under Christensen.

The Athletic's Adam Leventhal joins Raphael Honigstein and James Horncastle to reflect on day four of the World Cup, a day which saw Germany lose 2-1 to Japan after a disjointed performance but they took the headlines pre-match with their show of defiance against FIFA in the ongoing armband row. We discuss both the on and off field issues from that game, plus reflect on Spain's 7-0 thrashing of Costa Rica, Belgium's underwhelming win over an unlucky Canada, and we have an update from the England camp as David Ornstein brings us news on Harry Kane's ankle injury as well as updates on Kyle Walker and James Maddison. There's also a look at Brazil ahead of their tournament bow against Serbia later today. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Matt Davies-Adams is in the hot seat in the company of Carl Anka and Daniel Storey after a dazzling Day 3 at Euro 2020. England exercise real control and relaxation in their opening game as they defeat Croatia at Wembley. A great day for Phillips and Mings as Southgate’s team selection is completely vindicated.
