Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by ARNE. In this episode, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright are joined by former Leeds and Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to look back on a career packed with goals, big moments and unforgettable stories, as well as his time as a national team coach and manager in the EFL. We start with Jimmy’s early career, from growing up playing football to his big break in Portugal. How did he make his way to England and what challenges did he overcome along the journey? The conversation then turns to his time at Leeds United, how he adapted to Premier League life, the teammates who pushed him to become one of the club’s top scorers, and the controversy around his exit from Elland Road which saw him move to Atlético Madrid. Jimmy recalls his return to England, leading the line for Chelsea and later Middlesbrough, where he worked with Gareth Southgate. That connection eventually led to him joining Southgate’s coaching staff for Euro 2024. We dive into the tournament itself. Where did England go wrong, and was playing Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield too big a gamble? Looking ahead, we also discuss Thomas Tuchel's appointment as England prepare for the future. Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by ARNE. In this episode, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright return after another dramatic week of Premier League action. We revisit Newcastle v Liverpool on Monday night, were Liverpool lucky to come away with three points, and did Newcastle go too far with their aggression after the Alexander Isak incident? Arsenal’s strong start continues, and with new signing Eberechi Eze coming in, can they find another level? And how good is youngster Max Dowman? At Manchester City, the goalkeeper debate rolls on. Has Pep asked too much of young James Trafford, and could Gianluigi Donnarumma be the solution? Over at Manchester United, a slow start and Bruno Fernandes’ penalty antics pile the pressure once again onto manager Rúben Amorim. What needs fixing before the transfer window closes? Super 6 returns with predictions, including the big clash between Liverpool and Arsenal, and we round things off by answering your community questions on which sides need to strengthen before deadline day, and who’s already in trouble after just two games. Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle for your weekly dose of football chatter from across the continent. We begin in Germany, where Bayern Munich got their title defence underway in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig. Harry Kane picked up where he left off last season, scoring a 13-minute hat-trick to take him to a ludicrous 65 goals in 64 Bundesliga games. Not such good news for Erik ten Hag’s Leverkusen though - beaten 2-1 by Hoffenheim at the BayArena. In Ligue 1, despite the chaos off the field Marseille found some unity on it to beat Paris FC 5-2 at the Vélodrome, while PSG recorded another narrow 1-0 win as their underwhelming performances continued. Olivier Giroud stole the headlines with a 91st minute winner for Lille against Monaco - the 350th goal of his professional career! Over in La Liga, there was late drama as Barcelona fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Levante. Meanwhile Real Madrid made it two wins from two themselves in far more comfortable circumstances at newly promoted Real Oviedo. And there were plenty of intriguing scorelines in the first week of Serie A - including Inter’s 5-0 rout of Torino, Max Allegri’s Milan beaten 2-1 by the promoted Cremonense - and KDB kicking off life at Napoli with a goal in their 2-0 victory at Sassuolo - but he'll have to go some way to take Scott's crown... Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Unsatisfactory sausages & moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Bundesliga review - Kane just scores goals - and Leverkusen just look bad (11.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Marseille chaos continues as Giroud rolls back the years (24.55) • PART 4: La Liga review - Barca stage yet another comeback as Real start strong (35.05) • PART 5: Serie A review - Inter look angry while McTominay still wears the crown (48.05) Hosted on Acast. On Monday's Football Daily, Phil Egan brings you all the latest from a huge weekend of football. Arne Slot's Liverpool finally get over the line after their 5-1 thumping of Tottenham Hotspur yesterday at Anfield. The Reds had led the Premier League for the majority of the season and can now claim a 20th English top division title. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said that consistency is key to their success whilst the reality of winning the title had not yet set in for fellow Dutchman Slot. Pep Guardiola says that despite City's defeat of Nottingham Forest doesn't rectify what has been a poor season for the Citizens. And after Arsenal completed an astonishing comeback against Lyon, we hear from Renee Slegers after they booked their place in the Champions League final against Barcelona. Elsewhere Carlo Ancelotti looks to be headed for Brazil and the 2026 World Cup, whilst a possible future star of those games scored a cracker for River Plate against Boca Juniors And finally, is Scott McTominay about to lead Napoli to the Serie A title? It's a Championship Clash of the Correspondents as James catches up with Burnley fan Jack Toner and Luton Town fan Dan Ashby to discuss veryt differing fortunes for two clubs who were in the Premier League last season. Burnley are third with promotion in sight and have a barely believable defensive record having only conceded 9 goals in 34 league games. But do the underlying numbers suggest this is unsustainable? Are Burnley fans in support of what Scott Parker is trying to do? Meanwhile Luton are 3rd from bottom and would have been 24th if not for Saturday's win against Portsmouth. It was a first win in 9 for new manager Matt Bloomfield who replaced Rob Edwards in January. Why has it gone so wrong for The Hatters? There's an overview of both the relegation and promotion race and discussion on the increasing difficult task of getting into the Premier League and staying there.# Follow Jack on Twitter/x: https://x.com/TurfyTopper Follow Dan on Twitter/x: https://x.com/danlukeashby Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Planet FPL s8 ep39, Chips & The Assmen vol,3.
