Former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given joins Mark Chapman, Chris Sutton and Rory Smith to review the weekend's key talking points, starting with City's Wembley win over Arsenal. How much will it impact the Premier League title race? Did Pep Guardiola's celebrations suggest he'll be leaving at the end of the season? What could the psychological effect on Arsenal be in the FA Cup and Champions League? The panel also ask whether criticism of Mikel Arteta's decision to start Kepa ahead of regular first-choice goalkeeper David Raya is harsh or justified, before moving onto their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs fan Jack Hussey and BBC Senior Football Correspondent Sami Mokbel join the MNC to discuss how Spurs can save their season over the upcoming international break. Rob Jones is joined by James Olley, Charlie Wyett and Dan Kilpatrick to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We kick off at Old Trafford as Manchester United cruise to a 2–0 win over Tottenham. A first-half Romero red card flips the game on its head for Thomas Frank’s side — and it leaves us asking: how much longer can Carrick be overlooked as a permanent manager? Next to Newcastle, and after a 3-2 loss at home to Brentford, we ask what’s going wrong for Eddie Howe’s side? Finally, we discuss reports linking Mo Salah with a move to Saudi Arabia, and ask how realistic it is that he could become the league’s new face in the near future.
Are Mikel Arteta’s tactics becoming too defensive? With no wins in their last three games and a worrying lack of goals from the forward line, are Arsenal in danger of throwing away their Premier League advantage? Michael Carrick has made a dream start, claiming statement wins over Manchester City and Arsenal. Can he guide Manchester United into the Champions League places — and does he deserve the permanent head coach role? Gary, Alan and Micah also break down Unai Emery’s brilliant tactics and ask the question: can Aston Villa go all the way and win the league? The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Jacqui Oatley, Jonathan Northcroft and Miguel Delaney to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We begin with the heroics of Macclesfield, who knocked out Crystal Palace to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup. Jonathan calls it “a beautiful reminder of what football can be.” Attention then turns to another defeat for Tottenham Hotspur and we ask how much time Thomas Frank has left after Spurs bow out of what looks like their final chance at a trophy this season. Next, we turn our attention to Manchester United. Darren Fletcher has been appointed interim manager, but we ask who the right choice would be to take charge over a longer period, through to the end of the season. Finally, we assess Viktor Gyökeres’s form and some of the data that suggests he might not quite be at Premier League level. Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. Manchester United fan Gary Robinson joins James to discuss United's #FPL assets and begin with reflection on the FA Cup Final victory over rivals City and club's decision to stick with Erik Ten Haag, though some backroom appointments, including legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy have led to to James remaining cautious on the current manager's future. Bruno Fernandes will appeal to many FPL managers at 8.5, but with Marcus Rashford back down to 7.0 and Alejandro Garnacho seemingly established and now 6.5 which, if any, of the trio is worth investing in? Pre-season has continued with last season's theme on injuries but key centre-back Lisandro Martinez is fit again and at 4.5 offers a cheap route in to a backline, that did admittedly give up an alarming number of shots last season. Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw, all 5.0 are covered but with no new holding midfielder signed (yet) should they be swerved? Plus, Jadon Sancho is back, Mason Mount is playing, Amad Diallo is impressing and why Scott McTominay should not be discounted as possible FPL asset to consider.
