⚽️ World Cup Betting: Round of 16 Preview | Part 2 (Monday & Tuesday)

The first four Round of 16 matches delivered excitement, if not many surprises. The Soccer Sharps got clobbered on their plays for the Netherlands v USA match, but from then on, it was pretty smooth sailing. Of course, there was the miserable bad beat at the end of the France v Poland match, which blew the bets of many gamblers on Sunday, but the less said about that, the better. Devin and Jordan are back to preview the remaining four Round of 16 matchups, sharing their best bets for each. South Korea stun Portugal, Suarez’s tears & USA vs Netherlands preview

Host Adam Leventhal is joined by Athletic writers Jay Harris and Paul Tenorio to discuss the drama on the final day of the group stages and also look ahead to the USA’s huge knockout clash against Netherlands. South Korea scored a late, late goal to beat Portugal and seal their place in the Round of 16 ahead of Uruguay, leaving Luis Suarez in tears. In the other group, Switzerland edged a five-goal thriller against Serbia to progress, while Brazil topped Group G, despite their 1-0 loss to Cameroon. We also hear from Michael Cox, who gives his thoughts on South Korea’s win, and Cameroonian journalist Francis Ajumane discusses Cameroon becoming the first African team to beat Brazil in a World Cup match. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

South Korea go through, Uruguay and Ghana go home, the Swiss succeed against Serbia

It’s Jimbo, Tom Williams and Sasha Goryunov on the pod after Day 13 of the World Cup. South Korea score an unbelievably late winner to progress from Group H leaving Uruguay to do some Seoul searching. Korean journalist Sungmo Lee gives us his reaction. Uruguay’s win over Ghana wasn’t enough for them and the Black Stars were awarded another penalty against the South Americans...which the they missed. Just a little bit of history repeating… In Group G, Serbia succumbed to Switzerland 3-2 despite two goals from their superb centre forwards Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic. The Athletic’s Charlotte Harpur gives us on-the -whistle reaction from the 974 stadium. Finally, we look ahead to the knockouts! The first last 16 tie sees the US play the Netherlands. The Athletic's Jeff Rueter and our old Dutch pal Michiel Jongsma give us the respective perspective from the Amerikee and Holland. Produced by Steve Hankey Hosted on Acast. Matchday 13 of the Qatar 2022 world cup! The last day of the group stages Morayo, Elijah and Reemz get together to digest an exciting ending to groups G and H! Today was a day of rematches. Brazil entered match day three already through to the knockout stages, so fielded a weakened side. They were beaten 1-0 by Cameroon. Serbia and Switzerland had a rematch of their 2018 game which served up another dramatic 3-2 tie. Ghana and Uruguay meet after the 2010 World Cup and history repeats itself with Uruguay winning the game but not making the knockout rounds with Korea Republic pulling off a dramatic late win over Portugal. We also put together our best and worst group stage teams and had a brief look at the knockout ties. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The goals show, Cristiano Ronaldo upstaged & England v Wales preview

Ahead of the finale of Group B, Adam Leventhal is joined by David Ornstein and Matt Slater on Day 10 of the Qatar World Cup. Matt reflects on attending all four games on the final day of four separate kick-off times before Michael Cox and Dermot Corrigan reflect on Andre Onana being suspended from the Cameroon squad by coach Rigobert Song. James Horncastle reacts to Brazil's 1-0 win over Switzerland while Laura Williamson and Felipe Cardenas watched Portugal's 2-0 win over Uruguay with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice - despite Cristiano Ronaldo's best attempts to claim one. Meanwhile, ahead of England v Wales David Ornstein has the latest on the England team news before Sam Stejskal reflects on a heated press conference prior to USA v Iran. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Brazil bypass Switzerland, Ghana get away from South Korea and Portugal pass Uruguay

Jimbo, Sasha Goryunov and Duncan Alexander gather to summarise Day 9 of the World Cup. We had two contenders for game of the tournament on the same day! Cameroon took the lead against Serbia but the Serbs scored three in succession to lead 3-1 only for Cameroon to drag it back to 3-3. The result probably means both sides are out but Vincent Aboubakar did score a lovely lob. Ghana looked like they were sailing to victory with a 2-0 lead over South Korea heading into half time. Then two goals in three second half minutes saw South Korea level before Mohammed Kudus scored his second, Ghana’s third, and secure what could be a massive three points in Group H. Massive because Portugal’s win over Uruguay sees the Portuguese qualify and leaves Ghana in pole position to follow them through. Plus we look ahead to the biggest game at the tournament tomorrow… Iran vs USA. Bassil Mikdadi gives us the Iranian perspective on their winner takes all game. And The Athletic’s Sam Stejskal gives us the perspective from the American side. Produced by Charlie Jones & Steve Hankey Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Reduced to a screaming seven-year-old

Jimbo, Carl Anka and Daniel Storey try and make sense of quite possibly the greatest day of tournament football ever. Switzerland knock out world champions France on penalties after a 3-3 draw in Bucharest. We try to explain the magnificence of Xhaka and Pogba. And would France have fared better with Laporte? Speaking of Laporte, his Spanish side beat Croatia 5-3 after extra time. How to explain a free-scoring team with a struggling striker? England and Germany face off at Wembley on Tuesday. Raphael Honigstein tells us why he’s worried about German improv up against a heavily rehearsed England. Plus Sweden Ukraine, Dutch despair from 2000 and attempting to explain the own goal epidemic.
