Serie A Preview: Milan vs Udinese – Team News, Lineups & Prediction

Milan will look to get back on track when they take on perennial strugglers Udinese at San Siro in a must-win Serie A clash. After a disappointing return to action from the international break, the Rossoneri will be keen to bounce back on Saturday. The post Serie A Preview: Milan vs Udinese – Team News, Lineups & Prediction appeared first on The Cult of Calcio.

Pisa win shows Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s value at Milan

In January, there were increasing doubts about the future of Ruben Lotus-Cheek at Milan. Aston Villa attempted to bring him back to England and at a point, it seemed like his exit could go through. Fortunately for Max Allegri’s side, it did not. With a new contract on the way, the Englishman showed his value […]

Going all out for Jean-Philippe Mateta makes sense for Milan

At one point last week, it seemed like Milan would definitely sign Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace. They seemed to have beaten Nottingham Forest in the race, as an agreement was reached with the Eagles and the Frenchman. The 28-year-old appeared very keen on the transfer, with Juventus having previously failed to seal a deal. […]

Wins over Como and Lecce showcase Milan’s resiliency and title potential

It is fair to suggest that Lecce and Como were completely contrasting challenges for Milan. One posed the threat of completely outplaying them on the pitch and the other nearly left the Rossoneri frustrated until the goal actually came. All that matters though, is the result. Milan took six points from the two ties, even […]

Why Milan should consider parting ways with Youssouf Fofana in January

Youssouf Fofana’s time at Milan began with flying colours last season. The Rossoneri put in quite a bit of effort to land the Frenchman from Monaco, even beating Premier League competition to bring him to the San Siro. He was a bright light in the darkness of last season and with Tijjani Reijnders leaving, he […]

Milan’s Davide Bartesaghi showed true value in win over Cagliari

It is fair to say that Davide Bartesaghi has been one of the shining lights for Milan in the last few weeks. The left-back scored vital goals against Sassuolo and has ousted competition from Pervis Estupinan for a while now. But against the Sardinians, he truly showcased what value he offers to the side. The […]

Atleti stun Real as Barca v PSG headlines Champions League week

Jimbo assembles the Euro crew as Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle chat through all the weekend’s domestic drama - and look ahead to MD2 in the Champions League. In Serie A, there was a statement of intent from Milan in their 2-1 win over Napoli on Sunday night to take Max Allegri’s side top of the table. They’re on 12 points alongside the men from Naples and Roma - who made it four wins from five against Hellas Verona. Real Madrid were handed a shock on Saturday afternoon - beaten 5-2 by city rivals Atleti to end their perfect start to the season in emphatic fashion. Elsewhere, injury-ravaged Barcelona took full advantage - into first place after their come from behind, 2-1 win over Real Sociedad. But what shape are they in to take on PSG on Wednesday night? Speaking of - the French champions eased to a 2-0 win over Auxerre after their defeat by Marseille last Monday. Lyon moved level on points at the top with Luis Enrique’s side courtesy of a goal from Tyler Morton in their 1-0 victory at Lille. And in the Bundesliga - Harry Kane smashed yet more records, as his brace in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Werder Bremen meant he became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club playing in one of Europe's top five leagues. All that plus the Labubu black market, Panama hats - and a celebration of 0-0’s. Produced by Lucy Oliva. Another Barca remontada & McTominay still leads the way at Napoli

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle for your weekly dose of football chatter from across the continent. We begin in Germany, where Bayern Munich got their title defence underway in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig. Harry Kane picked up where he left off last season, scoring a 13-minute hat-trick to take him to a ludicrous 65 goals in 64 Bundesliga games. Not such good news for Erik ten Hag’s Leverkusen though - beaten 2-1 by Hoffenheim at the BayArena. In Ligue 1, despite the chaos off the field Marseille found some unity on it to beat Paris FC 5-2 at the Vélodrome, while PSG recorded another narrow 1-0 win as their underwhelming performances continued. Olivier Giroud stole the headlines with a 91st minute winner for Lille against Monaco - the 350th goal of his professional career! Over in La Liga, there was late drama as Barcelona fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Levante. Meanwhile Real Madrid made it two wins from two themselves in far more comfortable circumstances at newly promoted Real Oviedo. And there were plenty of intriguing scorelines in the first week of Serie A - including Inter’s 5-0 rout of Torino, Max Allegri’s Milan beaten 2-1 by the promoted Cremonense - and KDB kicking off life at Napoli with a goal in their 2-0 victory at Sassuolo - but he'll have to go some way to take Scott's crown... Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Unsatisfactory sausages & moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Bundesliga review - Kane just scores goals - and Leverkusen just look bad (11.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Marseille chaos continues as Giroud rolls back the years (24.55) • PART 4: La Liga review - Barca stage yet another comeback as Real start strong (35.05) • PART 5: Serie A review - Inter look angry while McTominay still wears the crown (48.05) Hosted on Acast. On The Continent: Dortmund and Leipzig slug it out, El Clásico ends goalless, and Goal Bae returns

The Fussball-Meisters are back again for a brand new episode of On The Continent. There’s a whole load of stuff on the docket today, and we begin with last night’s El Clásico. It was the first goalless tie between the two sides since 2002, and Real Madrid were (predictably) unhappy with some of the officiating. We discuss Zinedine Zidane’s deserved public praise for Gareth Bale after his impressive display, as well as Luka Jović’s struggles in the Spanish capital. We then take stock of a crazy Bundesliga game Andy saw earlier this week, as a Jadon Sancho-inspired Dortmund somehow didn’t emerge victorious from a cracking 3-3 with RB Leipzig. We also celebrate the goalscoring return of original OTC Goalbae Patrik Schick, before looking ahead to Leipzig’s intriguing matchup against Spurs in the Champions League and previewing the draw more generally. James also talks about his recent chat with Max Allegri, and we have some cracking Games of the Week lined up. Join us! Correspondence?
