Manchester City 2-1 Arsenal: Premier League – live reaction

⚽️ Premier League updates from the 4.30pm BST kick-off ⚽ Live scores | Tables | Top scorers | Follow on Bluesky When Pep Guardiola was preparing for the challenge of taking on Jürgen Klopp’s peak Liverpool team at Anfield in February 2021, training that week at Manchester City was a little different, according to Oleksandr Zinchenko. Guardiola’s instructions seemed counterintuitive. “Guys, let’s start from the goal-kick, I want you to make at least three or four touches on the ball,” the manager told them. “Most of the teams come to Anfield and shit themselves. They want to play one touch, two touch. ‘Oh, don’t give me the ball! Oh you take it!’ But you have to play with big balls at Anfield! Big balls! ‘Give me the ball!’ Demand it! If you need to dribble past two or three players, do it. But play football. I want you to play football.” Zinchenko recalls that Guardiola made the same speech before they walked out at Anfield. “Teams coming here are scared. They play one or two touches, and that’s what Liverpool like, because they get the ball back so quickly. I want you to be brave. Play your football!” as Zinchenko puts it in his autobiography, Believe. Admittedly that game came in the midst of City’s record-breaking 21-game winning run that season but was also Guardiola’s first win at Anfield, so not dissimilar to the title showdown at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday with Arsenal. Guardiola ready to benefit as fellow Cruyff disciple Arteta strays from path

Manchester City and Arsenal managers were both schooled in the expansive Barça tradition but the latter opting for caution could be his team’s undoing When Pep Guardiola was preparing for the challenge of taking on Jürgen Klopp’s peak Liverpool team at Anfield in February 2021, training that week at Manchester City was a little different, according to Oleksandr Zinchenko. I started writing then stopped

Happy Tuesday folks. I’m sitting here this morning wishing I could write something that has the answers. You know the ones I mean. Not how did we get here; not the meaning of life; not ‘how can the universe be infinite?’; not why are Maroon5 still around; nothing as trivial as that. But – what […] The post I started writing then stopped appeared first on Arseblog ... an Arsenal blog.

Arsenal with @ThreeFiveWho | Correspondent Week ep 5 | Planet FPL

On the fifth episode of Correspondent Week Suj & James speak to Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard about The Gunners hopes for the new season and the best FPL assets from The Emirates. Does Gabriel Jesus justify being the highest owned player in the game? Adam's delighted he's signed but not convinced that the ownership numbers are justified. Could the value in Arsenal therefore lie in the midfield spots through the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka? There's talk of Arsenal's investment in Oleksandr Zinchenko and where the 5.0 asset is likely to play during the season, injury concerns in the full-back areas persist, why William Saliba could finally be set for his Arsenal Premier League debut in Gameweek 1 and the brilliant opening set of fixtures that mean it's difficult to overlook Arsenal FPL assets as they bid to get back in the top 4.
