The Premier League Unfinished Business XI

Adam Hurrey is joined by Charlie Eccleshare, David Walker and Nick Miller to pick a lineup of players destined to be subject to the gravitational pull of the Premier League to give it (at least) one more crack in the next few years. The selection process involves some written-off goalkeepers, defenders who will come crawling back from Saudi Arabia, veteran midfielders doing one more season at their hometown club after winning the World Cup for England, Harry Kane’s carefully-planned final assault on Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record, and getting one step ahead of the Darwin Nunez redemption story. Meanwhile, the Adjudication Panel enjoys some fifth-division Sunday League pyro, Premier League club names in theme park YouTubers, a novel TV approach to denoting home and away fixtures and yet more accidentally musical commentary from Conor McNamara. PSG almost champions as Mbappe and Lukaku bag big goals in title races

Jimbo’s joined by Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens, Rory Smith & Seb Stafford-Bloor as the domestic action returns across Europe with the end of the season in sight. Inter remain three points clear at the top of the Serie A table after their 2-1 win over Udinese, while Romelu Lukaku scored the 400th goal of his career in Napoli’s vital victory over struggling Milan to keep the pressure on the leaders. Over in Spain, three points is also the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid - who both recorded wins with braces from Mbappe and Lewandowski. Plus, Antony’s Betis just can’t stop winning in a fiery Seville derby. Elsewhere, Marseille suffered a hat-trick of defeats as they were beaten 3-1 by lowly Reims - their first league victory since November. And in Germany, defeat for Leipzig at Gladbach spelled the end for Marco Rose, with Thomas Tuchel’s former assistant Zsolt Low installed as interim boss. Harry Kane’s a step closer to winning his first title as he made it 58 goals in 57 Bundesliga appearances in Bayern’s 3-2 win over St Pauli. Produced by Lucy Oliva. La Liga title race takes another turn as Dembele dazzles again

Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle join Jimbo for a deep-dive into all the latest Continental action and transfer news as the window officially *slammed* shut. Over in Italy, the spoils were shared in the Derby della Madonnina after Stefan De Vrij bagged a 93rd minute equaliser, while league leaders Napoli conceded a last-gasp goal of their own to draw 1-1 in Rome. Plus - it’s farewell, not goodbye to James as he embarks on an important project… In Ligue 1, Ousmane Dembele just can’t stop scoring! He became the first PSG player ever to score hat-tricks in back-to-back games as they came from behind to beat Brest 5-2. So, what’s suddenly clicked for him in Paris? There was yet another twist in the title race over in Spain as Real Madrid succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Espanyol despite having 76% possession. Atleti took full advantage to close the gap at the top to just a point after their 2-0 win over Mallorca, while Barcelona also won thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s 30th goal of the season. And in the Bundesliga Harry Kane continues to do Harry Kane things, bagging a brace in his 50th appearance in the league as Bayern survived a late scare to beat Holstein Keil 4-3. They did it without Mathys Tel who’s now on loan with Tottenham - but what kind of player are Spurs getting? Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - 1-1 draws across the board for the title chasers (05.10) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Ousmane Dembele the hat-trick hero (again!) (18.45) • PART 4: La Liga review - Real beaten to open door for Atleti & Barca (32.30) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern survive late scare as Tel heads to Tottenham (44.05) Hosted on Acast. A vulnerable conk

We also take on The Trent Alexander-Arnold Situation and what happens next, while there’s special concern for Anthony Gordon after his UNESCO World Heritage conk gets another bash. Plus, Ivan Jurić brings less death metal than deathly silence at St Mary’s and Marcus issues a BIG prediction about Harry Kane’s England successor. Just let him have that fight with Ed Sheeran in the Craven Cottage carpark first. Find us on Bluesky, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and email us here: [email protected].
