Episode 215 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Juiced with guests Aly Ghazal, Aaron Maund, and Peter Walton)

The oranges came to BC Place at the weekend, ripe for picking and they were duly juiced. But Vancouver Whitecaps made it difficult for themselves in their 2-1 weekend win over Houston Dynamo before coming away with a huge three points. We look back at all the ins and outs, and highs and lows, from the match and hear from both head coaches, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and Houston's Wilmer Cabrera. It was an important win and we look ahead to another big match on Wednesday night when Cascadian rivals Seattle Sounders come a calling. We bring you three one on one interviews this week as we catch up with the two newest Whitecaps, Egyptian midfielder Aly Ghazal and American defender Aaron Maund, and talk with PRO's General Manager Peter Walton about VAR and the standard of refereeing in North America. All this plus a MLS rap song in this week's Wavelength section, the first edition of our new game show Play Your Caps Right, Jordan Harvey gives away his ice cream and fro-yo secrets, and does Gordon Forrest fancy a chocolate digestive? There a couple of mic issues in the opening minutes, but we quickly fix those, so hopefully it doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much! Episode 213 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Rapids Response Team with guests Adam Straith and Marco Carducci)

Vancouver Whitecaps' road trip rolled into Colorado this weekend, fighting to a 2-2 draw with the Rapids. A tad disappointing or a hard point well earned? We look at that, the highs and lows of the match, and which players stood out for all the right and the wrong reasons. With New England next up, we also look ahead at what might be in store for the 'Caps against the Revolution. With the transfer window set to close in a few days we chat to a player who could be joining the Whitecaps, Canadian international Adam Straith. The Residency alumni is here training with the 'Caps as a free agent, and we also chat with another former Residency player who was back in Vancouver this past week, current Rio Grande Toros keeper Marco Carducci. All this and a World Cup anthem that wasn't to be in this week's Wavelength section, plus Stewart Kerr talks fish and chips, and does Jordan Harvey fancy a chocolate digestive? Episode 212 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Thundersticks with guests Ryan Pierce, Stefan Marinovic, and Stewart Kerr)

It was a historic first away win for Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night. Their first in Dallas and their biggest so far in the MLS era. We look back at the 4-0 win over FC Dallas, the shining individual performances, and what it means heading into Colorado this weekend. We also hear from both head coaches, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and Dallas' Oscar Pareja. We also chat with the 'Caps new Kiwi goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic and Whitecaps goalkeeper coach Stewart Kerr. Jordan Harvey talks fish and chips, and we catch up with one of the stars from CBC's new footballing drama 21 Thunder, Scottish footballer turned actor, Ryan Pierce. Episode 197 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Dirty Cheaters United)

So it turns out that cheaters actually DO prosper. At least in MLS under PRO referees they do. Vancouver Whitecaps' 1-0 loss to D.C. United, thanks to a dodgy winning penalty call, is a hard one to take. At least we now know what the D.C. aspect of the team stands for. But it wasn't all just down to that one call. The 'Caps did enough to win the game and their finishing, good goalkeeping, and the woodwork, all conspired to prevent that from happening. We look back at all the big talking points from the match and hear the thoughts of both coach, Vancouver's Carl Robinson and D.C.'s Ben Olsen [15:57]. We also chat with the Man of the Match, D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid and centre back Steve Birnbaum [53:04]. But the 'Caps have to put all of that behind them as they have a big game coming up this week with a Canadian Championship semi-final second leg in Montreal. We look back at the first leg, ponder what to expect from the second, and hear from two WFC2 players that made their competitive Whitecaps first team debuts last week - Dutch centre back Sem de Wit [73:32] and New Zealand defender Deklan Wynne [81:15]. And there's still time to look at the Whitecaps new training pitch and facility and hear the thoughts of Jordan Harvey, David Ousted, and Robbo on it and training on grass as opposed to turf [97:14] and have a quick look ahead to this Saturday's MLS match with Atlanta. Bastian Schweinsteiger is coming to MLS! He will be joining the Chicago Fire and some people are saying this is a bad decision because he's too old and those people are right. Some people are also saying he won't help the team, and they would be wrong. It's going to be great for the Fire and the MLS to have Basti out there. Let's just hope he can keep up with David Accam during training. ATL v CHI, 4-0 - Josef Martinez is the best player in MLS, soft red card on Johan Kapelhoff COL v MIN, 2-2 - Minnesota gets a point!
