Podcast: Galaxy attempting to turn an incomplete into something competitive

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are getting ready for their preseason to ramp up. They've got a handful of games lined up, and this Saturday, we'll finally get a good look at what they might look like when Spectrum SportsNet broadcasts their match against the New England Revolution. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to get you ready for this week of training and what hurdles the Galaxy still have to clear. The guys will start by attempting to learn something from the two 60-minute scrimmages the club held against USL side San Diego Loyal. But with a starting lineup devoid of, well, starters, there is probably a reasoning Greg Vanney kept most of the big names off the field. But what does it say that Mauricio Cuevas and Auggie Williams keep making an impact on the first team with the minutes they're getting? Josh and Kevin will also talk about the four players away on International Duty and what that means for the Galaxy as they already face some severe shortages on the roster. But this week is the week to see Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos, and Efrain Alvarez play for the senior national teams, and you might even get Julian Araujo in one of the biggest matches of his young career. With the roster showing many holes in the preseason scrimmage, what are the Galaxy doing about it? And how optimistic are Josh and Kevin when it comes to the job the Galaxy have done? Where are the upgrades to the team from last year? There's some roster judgment going on, and the Galaxy aren't getting a passing grade -- not yet, anyway. Finally, the guys discuss how a 90-mile circle will make your preseason game watching a lot more difficult thanks to some stupid MLS rules, and how a rumor out of France has the Galaxy dipping their toes into the under-22 rule. Is this the change that could bring some exciting development money into the league? It's a packed show for a Monday night, and we're glad you could join us! - SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP

Well lucky for you, this show is that show, and we're giving a heaping scoop of opinion, news, and Galaxy fun! Let's get to it! Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira cover the club from every angle. And that includes the ongoing "authentic" drama that seems to have left the Galaxy speechless. The guys will start with some Liga G talk and then quickly progress into the latest twist on what the kits on the field will look when the Galaxy finally take the field in 2021. What happened to the MLS patch? And why should it have been missing all along? Josh and Eric then focus in on the signing of Victor Vazquez and why Greg Vanney thinks the world of him. And that might mean that he'll be getting a lot more minutes than we first thought. Plus, with his pedigree, can Vazquez become the link to championships the Galaxy need? The guys will also talk about Vanney's media call and how he touched on almost every subject fans want to know. Are more players incoming? And why is that defensive midfielder so crucial to what the Galaxy want to do? Plus, before the lengthy conversation about Cristian Pavon, Josh and Eric verify the priority season ticket holders will be given and talk about how the Galaxy have magically made Season Ticket Agreements go away -- conveniently when it's best for them. Will you be able to get into the stadium? Could the Galaxy get into the Orange tier before the home opener at the end of April? We've got a packed show that should keep you entertained throughout its unusual length!

Vázquez coming, Galaxy watching Auggie, and Pavon sliding away?

Sure, we'll talk about a game nobody saw! On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's quiet last few days and why things might be about to heat up again! First, the guys talk about Auggie Williams and his goal against the Columbus Crew in a game that wasn't a game, wasn't real, and probably is just a figment of everyone's imagination. But Williams is trying to earn a spot on the senior team, and scoring in a glorified scrimmage is an excellent way to get Greg Vanney's attention. What could separate Williams from the rest of the guys trying to make this team? Next, Josh updates listeners on a rumor involving Victor Vázquez and why you can't compare him to Sebastian Giovinco. Are the Galaxy going to grab the 34-year-old? And what does that mean for the rest of the starting lineup? Especially when we tell you the Galaxy might be taking a significant step back from Cristian Pavon? Kevin will dive into the void of Designated Player signings and why Samuel Grandsir may be a product of teams who are afraid to spend money in another season affected by Covid. Could the Galaxy keep an open DP slot well into summer? And could returning fans to Dignity Health Sports Park means teams are ready to spend in 2021 once there's a path towards a "normal" season? We've got a busy show for you tonight with some good discussion on things that are causing the Galaxy problems early in the preseason!
