Vanney announced. He's ready to rebuild the Galaxy

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy have finally announced that Greg Vanney will be their next head coach after several weeks of speculation. And that means the rebuilding can finally begin. On today's show -- held specifically for the Galaxy announcement -- hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the addition of Vanney to the club and why he made a lot of sense. And we'll get to talk about Vanney's first interview with Kevin just hours before the club made his announcement official. There's a discussion about Vanney wanting the challenge of rebuilding a very broken club and why he sees California as a place to come "home." Plus, there's some good insight into how he could be spending the Galaxy's money in a very uncertain 2021. Additionally, Josh and Kevin will discuss the addition of Dan Calichman to the no. 1 assistant job and why Dominic Kinnear's involvement with the Galaxy might continue but not as a head coach. Would you stay if you were Kinnear? Would you want him if you're Vanney? Plus, there are updates on Cristian Pavon, Jorge Villafana, AJ DeLaGarza, and a lot more. We even made sure to update you on the MLSPA and their problems with MLS and the ownership group. Will the 2021 season also be significantly impacted by Covid-19? Will there even be a season? We've got a lot to discuss in our first show of 2021. And we're glad the Galaxy could finally make the announcement many have been waiting for. If there's a typical start to the 2021 season, the players will be reporting to training camp by the end of the month. Does that make it feel real? Thanks for kicking off another season with us! We're glad you could join us!

Schelotto Sacked, te Kloese takes the blame, Galaxy reset

COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/9g8FcfU COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto has been fired by the LA Galaxy. It was probably a necessary step for a team that has struggled with any positive momentum throughout the Covid-affected year. So with Dominic Kinnear in charge of the Galaxy for the time being -- his second stint as interim head coach -- how did we get to this point once again? On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira dive into the timeline of events that led to Schelotto's sacking on Thursday afternoon. The guys start with some weird injury announcement from Chicharito. Was his Instagram post out of line? And how many conspiracy theories can the guys come up with when it comes to the $15-million man? Then it's off to discuss the Galaxy's abysmal loss to the Portland Timbers. Did Dennis te Kloese know that he was going to have to fire Schelotto after the game? And what did he say at halftime that gave us some clues on which way he was leaning? Then the guys dig into the announcement of Schelotto's firing and what te Kloese had to say during his afternoon press conference. In fact, we'll give you pretty full coverage of the press conference during the show to get you caught up on everything that was said during the entire event. Finally, the guys will go over all the rule changes MLS put in place to get the 2020 season done and dusted and why the Galaxy might have a slightly better chance at getting into the playoffs with the points per game governing their outcome. There's even a little game preview of the Real Salt Lake game coming up this weekend. In total, we've got over 90-minutes of important Galaxy-talk. Don't miss it! And thanks for joining us tonight!

Episode 301 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Back To Basics with guests Craig Dalrymple, Stefan Marinovic, and Marvin Emnes)

The Carl Robinson era is over at Vancouver Whitecaps. He's certainly left an admirable legacy behind but it's time to get back to basics for the remainder of this season before the club heads into its most important offseason in their time in MLS. We look back at Robbo's sacking, the timing of it, what it means for the future, and especially how it may play out for the rest of this season. We also sit down for a chat with new, interim head coach, and a man we've known well for a number of years now, Craig Dalrymple. The dismissal of Robbo aside, there's still five games left to battle in this season, and while the playoffs may feel like a somewhat distant hope right now, they are at least still within touching distance and we chat with Stefan Marinovic about the mood of the group heading into them, facing Ibra and LA this weekend, and more. One man who we may see down the stretch is the last player Robbo brought into the squad, Marvin Emnes. We chat with the Dutch winger about where his fitness levels are at, when we may see him, and if he sees a future for himself in Vancouver at a Robboless Whitecaps. We go old school for this impromptu episode, recording it in our car! So the sound quality isn't up to our usual studio standard, but hopefully it won't take away from your enjoyment too much!
