The Preview Show: Man United are bad, but then so is most of the Premier League, so they probably fit in quite well

It's FA Cup time again! Let's all take a weekend off from how astonishingly bad the Premier League is and enjoy some red hot knockout action. Newcastle face Oxford, Chelsea and Arsenal lock horns, and Norwich try and spoil Burnley's post-Man United win party. We've covered it all in the way you'd expect, by talking about wagyu beef, Hollywood stars and moped thieves. Elsewhere, Marcus wants to praise Southampton, Pete doesn't know how to feel after Newcastle scored twice in injury time to get a draw against Everton, and there's another instalment of The Masked Winger. Who's under there, under the mask? Let's see if we can figure it out... This episode is sponsored by Betway. Jules & Andy: The FA Cup's dwindling magic, how the tournament can find it again, and some potential January transfers

Has the FA Cup lost some of its sparkle? What are the big teams’ attitudes towards the tournament? These are a few of the questions we’re trying to answer on today’s brand new episode of Jules & Andy! After a mixed set of results from the third round this weekend, we debate how significant a place the Cup still holds in football’s television-dominated environment. We suggest some ways to help recapture the magic of past FA Cups, including moving the semi-finals away from Wembley and incentivising teams to take it more seriously, while Jules recounts some of her favourite memories of watching it as a fan. Elsewhere, we discuss some of the potential movers and shakers in this January’s transfer window, as Arsenal need some new personnel in defence and Manchester United could do with some creativity. The Blizzard: Cambridge United 5-1 Bristol City, 1990

On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re joined by the leader of that mob over at The Guardian: it’s Football Weekly host Max Rushden! He’s here to talk about Cambridge United. Obviously. In fairness, Max brings a cracking game to the table: Cambridge United 5-1 Bristol City from the 1989/90 FA Cup. This was the start of a hugely impressive run of form for the U’s, as they went on to gain promotion and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup - feats they repeated a year later. They built this success on legendary manager John Beck’s genius philosophy of: 1) every marginal gain is a necessity and 2) pump the ball down the channels. This philosophy took Bristol City to pieces and dragged Cambridge all the way to the verge of the Premier League’s first ever season two years later. Fancy getting in touch? The Blizzard: Liverpool 3-3 West Ham United, 2006

We’re heading back to 2006 for the latest episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, to a match our guest described as “perhaps the best FA Cup final there had ever been.” It’s the 2006 final between Liverpool and West Ham, and our guest is the Guardian football writer Jacob Steinberg! The FA Cup had seen some fairly underwhelming finals throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, but this game in Cardiff gloriously bucked that trend. West Ham, with Alan Pardew in only his second full season in charge, took on the European champions in front of 71,000 at the Millennium Stadium. We discuss the lead up to the game and the respective sides’ impressive seasons, as well as the match itself - that late Steven Gerrard howitzer included. Fancy getting in touch? Episode 369 - The AFTN Soccer Show (Rules Are Made To Be Broken)

That was the week that was, it's over, let it go. So went the opening lyrics to the 1960s satirical BBC show That Was The Week That Was, or TW3 as it was more succinctly known. And it's been a quiet week in the North American footballing landscape. That gives us the chance to trial a new format I've been keen to try, combining two shows I love - TW3 and AIOTM on AFTN. What could go wrong?! We'll be breaking down the week's Whitecaps, MLS, and CPL news as the days played out, and throw in a few fun bits as well. Let us know if you like it. But we also continue our new section to pick our Whitecaps of the decade, looking at the defence and picking our starting right back, left back, and two centre backs. Let us know if you agree. Plus The Cockney Rejects are back in Wavelength, The New Royal Family begin their residency as our artists of the month for December, and there's BC Soccerweb headlines. The Blizzard: Liverpool 3-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach, 1973

On today's episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we're heading back to one of the finest nights in Liverpool FC's illustrious European history. It's Liverpool vs Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1973 UEFA Cup final - and we're joined by Independent writer, former Times football editor and Liverpool fan Tony Evans! Back in this era the UEFA Cup was a hugely illustrious tournament, where each winner would have to beat many of Europe's elite on their way to the trophy. Liverpool played Mönchengladbach for just 27 minutes before torrential rain led to the game being called off- so the two teams returned the next night to replay the fixture. Liverpool manager Bill Shankly, who was under pressure heading into the game, noticed Mönchengladbach were vulnerable in the air and implemented the tactics the subsequent night, which led to one of Liverpool's finest European performances. The Blizzard: Fulham 4-1 Juventus, 2010

Jonathan has to deal with an exceedingly giddy Marcus on today’s episode of Greatest Games, produced in association with The Blizzard. We’re here to discuss the 2009-10 UEFA Cup- specifically Fulham’s spectacular 4-1 win over Juventus on their route to the final, alongside journalist and author Philippe Auclair. Throughout a season that saw Fulham play over 60 games, managed by the underrated Roy Hodgson, there were some truly memorable midweek nights at Craven Cottage- but this was the pinnacle. An admittedly ageing and unspectacular Juventus side brought a 3-1 lead back from Turin but it proved insufficient, as Fulham secured qualification with a fantastic result. Marcus’ giddy aunt, indeed. Fancy getting in touch? Email us at [email protected] or find us social media— just search 'Football Ramble Daily'. The Blizzard: Blackpool 4-3 Bolton, 1953

For our latest episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, we’re looking back at that thrilling 1953 FA Cup final contested by Blackpool and Bolton: ‘The Stanley Matthews Final’. Joining us is Seb Stafford-Bloor, a writer for Football365 and Four Four Two magazine, as well as a content editor of Tifo Football. This final was a hugely significant moment in British football history. As it was the first final to be broadcast live on the BBC, the match was watched by a huge, unprecedented audience from all over the country. It also took place around the time that football was just beginning to be considered as the true ‘game of the people’ and still remains the only final where a hat-trick was scored. Seb, Jonathan and Marcus sit down and recount the rudimentary tactics and goalkeeping errors that led this match to be one of the most thrilling cup finals ever played. Serie A and Broader Questions of Ethics Related To Manchester City

Mike and Michael get into the final day of the Serie A season -- late Sunday matches are the ones to watch -- and then for the FA Cup. But it's not a game recap, and there's not much to recap. Why has everyone gotten mad at Manchester City suddenly? Celestial Teal: The FA Cup final, the Playoffs and your headliner… Mike Dean

Leeds, oh, Leeds. When will their nightmare end? Not yet, apparently. Frank Lampard’s Derby and Dean Smith’s Aston Villa will face off at Wembley after a frantic pair of play-off semi-finals. There’s also a look ahead at a juicy FA Cup final, a theory on what Jose Mourinho was really getting up to in that hotel, questions about Pep Guardiola’s cardigan - or is it cardigi? - and some fairly tortured Watford puns, chipped in by one of you lot. And yes, we saw Mike Dean celebrating Tranmere’s win over Forest Green Rovers. What. A. Man. Petey Blinders: A classic FA Cup semi, Liverpool back on top, Arsenal slump on the road

What a belter from Watford and Wolves at Wembley! A world class finish from Gerard Deulofeu, a luchador inspired goal from Raul Jimenez, and an emotional post match interview from big-hearted Troy Deeney. Man City and Brighton also played. The FA Cup quarter finals are over and they were full of late goals, VAR controversy and sort-of-but-not-quite cupsets, the Championship had an outfield player in goal, and in the Premier League Javier Hernandez’s impressive under-the-radar goal return justified the West Ham spend that everyone’s jealous of.
