An action packed round of FA Cup fixtures gave us drama at Spurs, Chelsea exposing Jurgen Klopp as yet another bald fraud and a huge upset as Arsenal beat Portsmouth. Newcastle made it through too! They never do that! And on top of their win we also got to see 59 year-old Chris Waddle’s cool new hair. Away from the pitch, Pete promises to release some music aimed at kids while also making a niche request for some fanfic; we learn of Delia Smith making Daniel Farke feel at home with the personal touch; and try as best we can to figure out where the midlands is. The lads discuss the 4-0 thrashing into positive goal difference of Newcastle at the Emirates with focus on starts for Ceballos and Eddie, dropping of Laca and no Guen in the squad, Saka keeping his spot at left back despite kola being fit, a slow start, Ozil’s shining performance, Ceballos feeding us from deep, Saka always being an outlet, Pepe’s output starting to deliver, some fantastic team goals, Laca’s return to scoring ways and a look ahead to the Europa league away leg at Olympiakos and the Everton game on Sunday. All this and much more!

It's FA Cup time again! Let's all take a weekend off from how astonishingly bad the Premier League is and enjoy some red hot knockout action. Newcastle face Oxford, Chelsea and Arsenal lock horns, and Norwich try and spoil Burnley's post-Man United win party. We've covered it all in the way you'd expect, by talking about wagyu beef, Hollywood stars and moped thieves. Elsewhere, Marcus wants to praise Southampton, Pete doesn't know how to feel after Newcastle scored twice in injury time to get a draw against Everton, and there's another instalment of The Masked Winger. Who's under there, under the mask? Let's see if we can figure it out... This episode is sponsored by Betway. The goings on at Man United are going on so much that they’ve reduced Sir Alex Ferguson to lonely red wine sessions in his old office, which may or may not be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current office. They face Norwich at the weekend in a fixture more intriguing than it has any right to be. Spurs also host Liverpool, which should be a spicy one. Will we see Jose Mourinho attempt to park the bus? Probably, yes. As well as discussing the upcoming action, we take some necessary detours through ear irrigation, Pizza Hut’s social media team and a particularly furious emails section. We've all got exclusive new music from Pete Donaldson. It’s time to learn! The Fussball-Meisters are back again for a brand new episode of On The Continent. There’s a whole load of stuff on the docket today, and we begin with last night’s El Clásico. It was the first goalless tie between the two sides since 2002, and Real Madrid were (predictably) unhappy with some of the officiating. We discuss Zinedine Zidane’s deserved public praise for Gareth Bale after his impressive display, as well as Luka Jović’s struggles in the Spanish capital. We then take stock of a crazy Bundesliga game Andy saw earlier this week, as a Jadon Sancho-inspired Dortmund somehow didn’t emerge victorious from a cracking 3-3 with RB Leipzig. We also celebrate the goalscoring return of original OTC Goalbae Patrik Schick, before looking ahead to Leipzig’s intriguing matchup against Spurs in the Champions League and previewing the draw more generally. James also talks about his recent chat with Max Allegri, and we have some cracking Games of the Week lined up. Join us! Correspondence? This episode came immediately following the absolute slaughter of Tottenham Hotspur at the hands of the Bundesliga giant, Bayern Munich. Gnabry, an ex-Arse player, had 4 goals and claimed that "North London is Red". Tottenham has to remember all of this nonsense for when they march in to Munich and kick their asses in the rematch. But anyway; that's over. We talk about Manchester United in general, their game against Arsenal, Europa League briefing (prior to the tie today), Brad tells us all about his trip to Idaho (#treenerd), his brother comes on, and the final week of Premier League before another USMNT break.

Emi Buendia, from Argentina. He came to City from sunny Spain. He's 5 foot 7, he's football heaven. Please don't take my Emi away. Awwww! That's what Norwich City fans sing to that little South American football guru. What about that win over Man City, eh? We cover a lot of the EPL, UCL, but the meat of this podcast sandwich is talking about the Southampton and the South Coast Derby coming up in the Carabao Cup! We talk about the history, expectation, and choose whether we're Scummers or Skates for the upcoming match-up. I love soccer! It's fully back.

Could Mike Ashley finally be about to sell Newcastle United? Rumours suggest it may be the case, but one of our number isn’t so sure. Where other rumours are concerned, Man United get all Moby as their class of ’99 turn it on at Old Trafford, and there are whisperings of a return to football for Big Weng. Poor old Sunderland suffer yet more heartache after another Wembley loss, while Charlton, Mike Dean’s Tranmere and Celtic are in dreamland. There’s also a look ahead to the Europa League final and a special mention for one Chris Wondolowski. The basement bowl is coming to a stadium near you. Well near you if you live in say Denver. It's another helping of Friday night lights this week as Vancouver Whitecaps head to the altitude of Colorado to face the Rapids. Joe, Nick, Gideon, and Peter are back with AFTN's latest preview podcast as they look ahead to the match. Can either team find some form and get out of their slump? Who will pick up the attacking play for the Whitecaps with Yordy Reyna missing for at least a month with a hamstring injury? Will Kei Kamara have a fired up field day against his former team to send a message? This was recorded before the sacking of Colorado's Anthony Hudson, but all of the above and more are discussed in their look ahead to the match. The guys also have a look back at their experience in Victoria on Sunday when they attended Pacific FC's inaugural match and tell the story about how they saved Canadian soccer! And it amongst all the chat, Do You Know Who I Am? returns, with a double helping, and which band would you associate with each of our podcast team? Have a listen and find out!

The weekend ahead sees many a potential thigh rubber, but is it Liverpool vs Chelsea? Burnley vs Cardiff? Sean Dyche vs Neil Warnock? It’ll probably be all of them. As well as looking forward, we look back over recent Champions League ding dongs, including harking back to Liverpool and Chelsea’s drab beef of yesteryear, via yet more football food fights and a worrying spread of potential misinformation from a rogue Jim. Last year's playoff series with Seattle Sounders was a massive letdown for Vancouver Whitecaps supporters. The team's performance over the two legs was simply not good enough, and the lack of attacking desire in the home leg in particular was a major disappointment. The two teams meet at BC Place this weekend for the first time since that match, and for the second time this season. When the sides clashed in Seattle in July, the 'Caps kickstarted an eight-match unbeaten streak for the Sounders. If they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to end it on Saturday. This time they have to attack and they have to win. It already feels all or nothing. Joe and Nick look ahead to the match in this week's preview podcast? How will the 'Caps replace the suspended Yordy Reyna? Can they stifle the Sounders midfield? And how are the Whitecaps playoff percentage chances akin to Donald Trump?! All that chat and more! There's a lot on the line and this week Joe has actually finally found a game that Nick does well at! Can you? Have a listen and find out!

It's a grueling time for Vancouver Whitecaps. Three matches in eight days, with two of them in the space of four days, all of them crucial for how the season could play out, and it's sweltering hot outside. This will test a lot about the current 'Caps squad. After a gutless performance in Seattle, and a battling midweek one against Montreal to reach the Canadian Championship final, which Whitecaps team will we see turn up to take on an in-form Minnesota United side this weekend? Will there be more rotation to rest some guys up, or does Robbo ride a clean sheet and a good performance on Wednesday night with an almost same starting XI? Was that win against Montreal a blip or a turning point? How can the struggling Whitecaps defence cope with the huge danger posed by Minnesota's Darwin Quintero (9 goals and 6 assists), Christian Ramirez (7 goals and 2 assists), and Miguel Ibarra (6 goals and 6 assists)? Joe returns from baby daddy duties this week to discuss all of that and more with Nick, plus a quick look back over that win over the Impact, the Alphonso Davies transfer, and the guys play a frankly terrifying 'Choose Your Own Adventure' game with a Whitecaps twist. Have a listen!

Two Cup matches in four days. Three in eight. Usually that would be a yes please from us, but with Vancouver Whitecaps in a bit of a slump after three defeats in their last four matches, we're at what feels like a crucial turning point in the 'Caps season. Will they be able to follow the right path to success or does a trip to a witch in a gingerbread house await? With Joe away on baby daddy duty (sidenote - the 'Caps haven't won a match since the kid was born. Not saying he's a jinx, but...), Gideon and Nick look ahead to the task awaiting the 'Caps in Seattle on Saturday, following on from Wednesday night's dismal display in Montreal. Can they get back to winning ways and save their season? Have a listen!

Vancouver Whitecaps are back from their World Cup break (aka a regular bye week). Maybe you're needing your own World Cup break after the feast of football these past eight days. Either way, we're back with our latest preview show setting up the 'Caps trip to Philadelphia on Saturday. Joe, Nick, and Gideon look ahead to what may lie in store during the match. Will the Whitecaps change a winning formula and line up? What kind of threat do the Union pose? Can Vancouver get their points per game above the playoff line? All this and more are covered, plus a special World Cup themed Do You Know Who I Am? and our prediction game in our latest episode. Have a listen! You can download and/or listen to this, and all previous, episodes of the podcast on the following services:

Vancouver Whitecaps are only two more draws away from equaling the MLS record of six straight games sharing the points. Three more and they set a new record. Come on boys, you can do it. Let's go out there and make some history! There's every chance they'll inch closer to it on Friday when they travel to the Rocky Mountain state, not for chocolate covered cravings but to take on Colorado Rapids in MLS action. The Rapids are bad this year. If the Whitecaps can't beat them, do they deserve to even make it to the playoffs? Joe, Nick, and Gideon ponder that question, plus look at the dangers Colorado pose to the Vancouver defence, and the dangers Tim Howard poses to his own one. Who will win the golden ticket in this week's Whitecaps rotation lottery? Has Kei Kamara put his misses behind him or will we see him drop to the bench this week? And who steps up to fill Kendall Waston's huge shoes in the centre of the 'Caps defence? All this plus Do You Know Who I Am? and our prediction game in our latest episode. Have a listen!

Vancouver Whitecaps v Houston Dynamo analysis; Vancouver Whitecaps v San Jose Earthquakes preview; Whitecaps salaries; TSS Rovers chat with Colin Elmes and Nick Soolsma interviews.

Vancouver Whitecaps' record against LA Galaxy hasn't been too shabby these past couple of seasons. Gone is the MLS Cup Galaxy team to be feared, and it feels like last season, their worst in their history, was a rebuilding one that went horribly wrong from the outset. Is Sigi Schmid going to turn them around this season? They've a win and a loss under their belts so far and head to BC Place on Saturday night to take on a Whitecaps side looking to secure their best ever start to a MLS season.Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht preview the match, looking at what we can expect from the Galaxy, what will the Whitecaps look like, can they bounce back from the loss in Atlanta pretty quickly, and a lot more. We're also joined by Corner of the Galaxy co-host and producer Josh Guesman to talk about all things LA Galaxy from last season's disappointments, to this season's expectations, and what it's like to have a real LA rival in the city as the teams get set to meet next week (at 14.56 mark). All this, plus "Do You Know Who I Am?", our prediction game, and a look over the results of the latest anonymous ESPN poll of MLS players. Have a listen!

Vancouver Whitecaps' perfect season is still on! Two games. Two wins. Can it get any better?! They're going to have a tough time maintaining that 100% start this week though, with big spending Atlanta United their next foes.Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht preview the 'Caps match in Atlanta this weekend. There likely will be changes to the starting XI, some enforced, some not. Who goes in? How should the 'Caps line up to counter Atlanta's three at the back and five in midfield? And should the home side be feared for their attacking strength or are they ripe for the picking at the back with the Whitecaps style of play? We look at all this and more in today's show, as we find out who Joe thinks looks sexy in a Whitecaps shirt and which player caused Gideon to lose sleep as he lay thinking about him in bed. Plus "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game are back, and we even talk a bit of Football Manager. Have a listen!

On your brand new Totally Football Show, James Richardson is joined by Michael Cox, Football 365’s Daniel Storey and our very own Iain Macintosh for the hot take on all the goings-on in the games in the Premier League and around Europe. We start with Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, the main beneficiaries of which appear to be Arsenal, who have taken their customary spot of fourth in the table after beating Burnley in typically controversial circumstances. Elsewhere, we commend Huddersfield for making life hard for City and wonder if Nou Mou can beat Old Mou when Watford host United on Wednesday. Oh, and we wonder what it’s going to take for Everton to get out of this tailspin. All of that plus: Eagles v Seagulls; Rafa Honigstein on Dortmund’s spectacular derby with Schalke; and Montella axed by AC Milan.LIVE EVENT NEWS: • If you’re going to our London live show on Wednesday 29 November at the Indigo at the O2, please use #TFSLIVE for your questions. History was made, but that's just what it is now. History. Time to go make some more. Vancouver Whitecaps won their first ever MLS playoff game on Wednesday night. We look back at the momentous night and the 5-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes, with the help of audio from 'Caps coach Carl Robinson and two goal super sub Nicolas Mezquida. Seattle are next up and will be a far more formidable force for sure. We preview the two-legged affair and hear from the Seattle camp, from head coach Brian Schmetzer and goalkeeper Stefan Frei. And we round off this midweek episode as we sit down with Whitecaps rookie right back Jake Nerwinski, to chat about his first season as a pro, the playoffs, and his US national team aspirations. Here's the full episode rundown:01.25: Vancouver v San Jose review and analysis15.16: Carl Robinson and Chris Leitch postgame audio19.55: Vancouver v San Jose players and tactics24.09: Nicolas Mezquida audio29.22: Vancouver v Seattle preview34.32: Brian Schmetzter audio38.57: Stefan Frei audio42.00: Vancouver v Seattle preview - part two46.49: Jake Nerwinski interview The AFTN Soccer Show is brought to you in partnership with BCsoccerweb.com, your one stop site for all your BC, Canadian, and North American soccer news and links. Vancouver Whitecaps finally have a place to call home. The National Soccer Development Centre up at UBC is finally finished. It's felt like a long time coming but the end result has been worth with the wait, with the 'Caps now having a state of the art training facility. We chat with Whitecaps President Bobby Lenarduzzi about what the facility means to the club and whether it's likely to attract players and touring teams to Vancouver. We also sit down with Whitecaps Vice-President of Soccer Operations, Greg Anderson about the new training centre, having all the teams under the one roof, future plans, and more. On the pitch, the 'Caps are back in action against FC Dallas this weekend. We look ahead to the match, and hear from head coach Oscar Pareja and defender Ryan Hollingshead. It's also been a busy week for the Canadian Men's National team, with a 2-1 win over Curaçao, we chat about the match, the performance of Whitecaps players, and the future. The AFTN Soccer Show is brought to you in partnership with BCsoccerweb.com, your one stop site for all your BC, Canadian, and North American soccer news and links. Have a listen!

What would make a Good Friday a Great Friday? Vancouver Whitecaps beating Seattle Sounders at BC Place, and making it even better yet is bringing you a special preview show for the first Cascadia Cup clash of the new season. We chat with 'Caps coach Carl Robinson about the task ahead, along with goalkeeper David Ousted and in what will be an emotional occasion for the Sounders all-time leading scorer, striker Fredy Montero. We also hear from the Sounders camp, with audio from head coach Brian Schmetzer, striker Jordan Morris, and Osvaldo Alonso. And there's still time to ask some of the 'Caps players and Robbo about last Saturday's snow farce. Have a listen!

We're back at the mics discussing why we don't have any great chants anymore, we talk through the Arsenal match (of course) and preview the Burnley game as well as answer your questions (both weird and wonderful) AND there's a rather heated debate about ham butties. Go figure.... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

London is Blue is proud to be presented by WorldSoccerShop. Visit them at www.WorldSoccerShop.com to find the best Chelsea FC gear! GUEST: Joe Tweeds, @JoeTweedie Part 1: Swansea City Review Chelsea 3-1 Swansea City, Premier League Saturday, February 25th | Stamford Bridge The big headlines from this match were Cesc Fabregas starting alongside N'Golo Kante, Pedro continuing his run of fine form, and Diego Costa finishes off a great move started by Eden Hazard. We tackle the Fabregas vs. Matic debate and question why Chelsea fans are so bitter after a 3-1 win? Are fans disillusioned with FIFA scores these days and forget that the Premier League is the best league in the world? We wrap up with our Man of the Match poll and the Top 6 standings in the table. Part 2: Social Media Questions Questions from social media include Pedro versus Willian, is Cesc playing like Lampard, why is John Terry learning Portuguese, and what would our starting eleven players be if we could only choose 3 senior team players? Part 3: West Ham United Preview Chelsea at West Ham United, Premier League Monday, March 6th | London Stadium As we preview Chelsea’s match against West Ham United, we look at recent results against Watford, West Brom, Southampton, Manchester City, and Middlesbrough. Bilic Seems to be barely hanging onto his job and some key matchups to watch will be Hazard/Pedro versus their outside backs, Luiz versus Carroll if he’s healthy, and even Kante versus Lanzini. The Hammers aren’t in great form so this is another chance for Chelsea to extend their lead. The big lineup question will of course be whether or not Cesc Fabregas starts again… KTBFFH Contact Us Twitter: https://twitter.com/LondonBluePod Instagram: https://instagram.com/LondonBluePod Facebook: https://facebook.com/LondonBluePod Website: http://londonisbluepodcast.com iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/london-is-blue-chelsea-fc/ This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/londonbluepod/support Learn more about your ad choices.
