Mbappe v Neymar and major Musiala hype

It’s the Euro crew of Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo in full effect. Drama in Paris as despite PSG’s rip-roaring start to the season, Kylian Mbappe falls out with Neymar over penalty duties and literally stops playing at one point. Lots for Luis Campos to sort out. In the Bundesliga, there’s a first goal for Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. But it’s Bayern youngster Jamal Musiala who Lothar Matthaus thinks could be the best player in the world. Inter’s difficult summer doesn’t prevent them from securing a last-gasp victory at Lecce on the opening day of the Serie A season. And as La Liga returns, it’s not just Barcelona who are struggling to register players. So will Atlanta United cause as many problems as the San Jose Earthquakes for LA? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss the Galaxy's continued fall from grace. They'll talk about the "Stupid Tax" the club has been paying with all of their transfers and why ghost teams probably aren't in place to get another signing across the line. But what do we make of Gaston Brugman? Will he be an answer of sorts that fixes some of the issues the Galaxy have? Plus, who would be your Penalty Kick takers in a winner-take-all shootout? Would you let Chicharito take one of them? What about Jonathan Bond? Josh and Eric also want to talk about points totals and why there might be a low number this year for getting into the playoffs. Will 19 points be enough? What about 21? 24? With just 14 games left (15 if you're Greg Vanney), the Galaxy need a confidence boost. But if they see another loss, will Vanney's seat get warm? What about other changes in the front office. Are jobs on the line? We've got another packed show to prepare you for Atlanta United on Sunday!

Schrödinger's equality

Jimbo is alongside Colin Millar, Jordan Campbell and Christoph Biermann as the first major European silverware of the season is decided. It’s the biggest day in Eintracht Frankfurt’s history as they overcome Rangers on penalties in Seville to win the Europa League. A victory for German football fans, redemption for Trapp and more misery for Ramsey. Will we see the Eagles doing a Dortmund in the near future? Forest also need penalties to reach their first ever play-off final. Matt Davies-Adams talks to us about a nerve-shredding night in Nottingham. Blackpool’s Jake Daniels becomes the only openly gay male professional footballer in Britain. The Athletic’s editor-in-chief Alex Kay-Jelski discusses Daniels and the ongoing Idrissa Gueye situation. The neuro eleven

Jimbo is joined by Daniel Storey, Dom Fifield and Sasha Goryunov after Liverpool hoover up yet more silverware. It’s another shootout victory for Liverpool in the FA Cup final as their squad players step up again and Chelsea’s season turns into an anti-climax. Liverpool’s title hopes are given a boost by the brilliant Bowen who will surely be making his England debut very soon, as Mahrez misses the chance to put Man City on the verge of the title. Leeds are the big winners at the bottom after their last-gasp point against Brighton. Are Everton playing too many games like they’re cup finals and is too much hoopla before matches causing them to lose control? And what alternatives can we find to penalties after Burnley are punished particularly harshly by a spot-kick awarded in their match with Tottenham. Plus Mark Noble, Prince Albert and the Roy Hodgson debacle at Vicarage Road. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Liverpool win the FA Cup (02m 30s) • PART 2: West Ham 2-2 Man City (18m 00s) • PART 3: The battle at the bottom (33m 00s) • PART 4: Noble, Forest and the rest of the Premier League weekend (49m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR £1 A MONTH FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Congratulazioni Italia | Planet #FPL Do The Euros | Ep. 25

Italy are the new European Champions having been England on penalties last night. There is congratulations to Italy, the tournament's best team in the opinion of Suj and James but naturally the conversation focuses on England with one particularly bruised hangover. Were England unlucky? Is there hope for the future? There's pride in the players on the pitch but disappointment with a lot that happened off the pitch from so-called England fans... ____________________________________________ Want to become a member of our FPL community? Part bleeding but still handsome

Italy are European champions. Jimbo, Carl Anka, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, David Preece and Daniel Storey review a wonderful night for the Azzurri but a heart-breaking night for England who lose on penalties at Wembley. Gareth Southgate’s side take a very early lead but are pegged back and worn down by their opponent. Like the 2018 World Cup semi-final but worse. It’s an inspirational group of players but in hindsight, did England throw this Euros away? And did they play that much football in the tournament? As for Italy, we salute a team that every other team made changes to their system for. And of course, they had the amazing Chiellini. The star of this Italy team and finally a European champion. Italy, Spain & Penalties

Wave of soppy emotion

Jimbo is joined by James Horncastle, Adam Crafton and Daniel Storey as the Azzurri ascend to the final of Euro 2020. It took penalties and a little bit of luck but Italy beat Spain at Wembley and continue to give great value to this tournament. Meanwhile, the future looks bright for Spain with Pedri running the show. But should they have got rid of Ramos? England and Denmark compete on Wednesday to see who will face Italy in the final. Niels Harild tells us how the spirit of 92 is more of a positive than the curse of 66. And how does this group of England players compare to previous crops? Plus Southgate and Sir Bobby – two of a kind?
