Premier League Weekend Wrap: London chaos as Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all drop points; Man City rack up 10th straight win

On the latest Essential Football Weekend Wrap, Ron Walker takes you through the weekend's action starting at the London Stadium - where Lewis Jones explains how Arsenal threw away a 2-0 lead for the second weekend in succession to draw 2-2 with West Ham. That's far from the only dodgy result in the capital, with Peter Smith at Stamford Bridge to see Chelsea beaten 2-1 by Brighton, and Declan Olley in position as Bournemouth leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a last-minute 3-2 win over Spurs. Elsewhere, Adam Bate is at the Etihad Stadium for Man City's 10th win in a row over new Leicester boss Dean Smith, while Aston Villa rack up a fifth straight league win over Newcastle and Fulham bounce back to beat Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park. Erik Ten Hag explains Antony's development after Manchester United win 2-0 at Nottingham Forest, with Ben Grounds in position at St Mary's to see Southampton take another step towards the Championship with a 2-0 home defeat by Crystal Palace. And that's your Premier League Weekend Wrap! Real Madrid Hit Four at Camp Nou, Freiburg End Bayern's Treble Hopes, Premier League and More

It’s been a busy week of league and cup matches around Europe, so Musa and Ryan begin at Camp Nou, where Real Madrid put four past Barcelona to progress to the Copa del Rey final to face Osasuna, who are there for only the second time in their history (03:32). Next it’s off to Germany, where Freiburg recorded a historic win at Bayern to end Thomas Tuchel’s side’s hopes of a treble (12:05), Leipzig made a tough week tougher for Dortmund and there were more goals from Randal Kolo Muani. In Italy, there were grim scenes as Romelu Lukaku received more racist abuse at Juventus, then received a second yellow for his response to the crowd after scoring Inter’s equalising penalty (19:15). Finally, there’s also some chat about this week’s round of Premier League fixtures, including a great night for Newcastle and yet another win for Aston Villa (24:35), plus a bit on Frank Lampard’s return to Chelsea, recorded before the news was confirmed. SNF | Emery's Villa stun Blues at the Bridge | Hasselbaink: ‘Chelsea need to be calmer in front of goal’ | Mudryk divides opinion

Dave Jones presents 'Saturday Night Football' alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Lee Hendrie, and they watched Aston Villa beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to move above the hosts and into the top half of the Premier League. Lee described Chelsea’s defending as ‘schoolboy’ whilst Jimmy said their main problem is putting the ball in the back of the net and they need to be calmer in front of goal. The duo also highlighted Ollie Watkins’ performance which was capped by another away goal and the forward produced a standout performance. Mykhaylo Mudryk again failed to impress for Chelsea and missed some key chances, but Hasselbaink defended the forward saying that he needs more time to settle. However, Hendrie feels the Ukrainian should have converted the opportunities he failed to capitalise on. They also discuss Graham Potter’s future, and feel if the negative results continue, the pressure will build. Hendrie thinks the Champions League tie against Real Madrid will be crucial to determine Potter's outcome. Hasselbaink however believes Chelsea’s board should look at Arsenal’s decision to back Mikel Arteta and trust the process as the Gunners are a great example of adopting that approach. There is also reaction from both goal scorers, Ollie Watkins and John McGinn as well as Graham Potter, who felt Chelsea were second best in both boxes despite having more attempts. Unai Emery also gives his views on the result and said that securing European football for next season will be difficult, but they will try to achieve it. Mismatch Of The Day | Planet FPL S. 6 Ep. 38 | Fantasy Premier League

On the review of the Gameweek 27 a largely underwhelming start for the popular Brentford and Brighton doublers as many FPL managers benched or sold Arsenal assets who stormed to victory at Fulham and Liverpool slipped to defeat at Bournemouth. There's insight into all the games including Tottenham's victory against Forest, Manchester City's tactical victory against Palace, how Leeds forced change on Brighton and the impact of Casemiro on the want for Manchester United assets in DGW29. Plus, what Free Hitters are likely to do in GW28, why Wildcarding this week should still be considered for those who haven't used it and why transfers in this week are liklely to focus on Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle players... and James has gone early and bought one of them already... Emi Martinez Is Doing Too Much!

We all saw Emi's heroics with Argentina in the World Cup. But has he taken it too far at Aston Villa? Unai Emery believes so! Emi Martinez was seen in qualifying as getting in the heads of the opponents but in the premier league this past weekend against Arsenal his antics have left his manager, Unai Emery, saying "It's embarrassing for me" after Emi ran up on a corner and left the goal wide open allowing Gabriel Marinelli to score Arsenal's 4th goal of the game. I'm sure Aston Villa fans are just as embarrassed and Arsenal fans are less so. How'd you feel about it? Arsenal’s late comeback, Man City’s dropped points and Barcelona’s La Liga lead

Michael Bailey, JJ Bull and Jon Mackenzie are here to talk about some football. Arsenal ended their winless streak by beating Aston Villa very, very late on. But will every game be so hard for The Gunners for the rest of this season? Manchester City yet again dominate a side and fail to win. But how to explain it? Damned if we know. Newcastle United had possibly the worst start to a game for any side this season in their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, and it’s left them in the goalkeeping lurch for the League Cup final. And will Liverpool sneak past the Magpies into top four contention? One team who almost certainly won’t be challenging for the Champions League places this season is Chelsea. After losing to bottom side Southampton, will the Chelsea board really, actually stick with Graham Potter? Plus, we look at La Liga and how Barcelona have levered themselves into first place with an impressive, and surely unsustainable; defensive record. This episode of the Tifo football podcast is presented by Michael Bailey and produced by Steve Hankey. *** • Take advantage of MANSCAPED®’s best valued bundle and save 20% Off and Free Shipping with the code EPL23 at Manscaped.com Hosted on Acast. Blatter, Platini & The Corruption Trial | The People's Poll ep. 117 | Planet FPL

In July Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini were, too much public surprise, found not guilty during a corruption trial that revolved around a £1.7m payment Blatter's FIFA made to Platini in 2011 for work done advisory work the Frenchman did between 1998 and 2002. Suj & James investigate and discuss what happened and how a verbal agreement meant that the pair was exonerated. Plus, the FBI's investigation into CONCACAF and CONEMBOL, what happens next to Blatter and Plantini and there's a review of last night's Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa draw that has left Villa fans calling for the removal of Steven Gerrard as manager...
