Sergio Agüero bows out, National League clubs make a stand, and misguided tattoos

It’s official: Sergio Agüero will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season after a truly illustrious decade at the club. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time to negotiate a Christian Vieri-style contract with Barcelona to get the Twitch stream up and running. Marcus, Andy and Pete hail Agüero, while there’s news that another Premier League legend won’t be going anywhere as Dwight Gayle continues his starring role in Office Space. Elsewhere, Frank Lampard holds courts with England’s star-struck youngsters and we discuss the scandalous situation in the National League, which is tainting the otherwise glorious return of grassroots football. Plus, two titans go head-to-head in Portmantonio Conte. S4 Ep9: Aston Villa’s Glory Years, 1980-82 - Part 2

Having looked at the Villa players individually, Lee, Gary and Mike return to discuss what they achieved collectively. The hors d’oeuvre is Villa’s first league title in 71 years, achieved after a Homeric tussle through the 1980-81 season with Bobby Robson’s Ipswich and using just 14(!) players.Follow that, as they say, and oh boy, did they. Villa then won the European Cup at the first time of asking in 1981-82, despite Tony Barton taking over from Ron Saunders halfway through the campaign, and then topped it off by beating Barcelona to win a comically violent European Super Cup final. We reflect on the legacy of these achievements and ask why this team seems to be so underappreciated in English football. Liverpool get back to their roots, a marvellous Kylian Mbappé hat-trick, and Norwich City dial into the matrix

A lads’ trip to Budapest looks to have done the trick for Liverpool’s knackered squad, as they swept aside RB Leipzig and a peculiarly underdressed Julian Nagelsmann last night. Kate, Luke and Pete are here to settle back into that comfy armchair on today’s episode of the Ramble - join us! We also marvel at the imperious Kylian Mbappé, whose classy hat-trick left the Barcelona defence berating each other and Ronald Koeman scratching his weary head. We also wonder how social media companies can dutifully protect footballers after James McClean’s recent comments and look into Norwich City’s latest purchase: the SoccerBot360. It’s basically Fifa ’98 on a fence. NEYMAR JR INJURY : NEYMAR MIGHT BE OUT OF THE SQUAD OF PSG MATCH WITH BARCELONA

Paris Saint-Germain might be without their Brazilian striker Neymar for next week's clash with Barcelona within the Champions League. The 29-year-old went off injured against Caen in their French Cup game on Wednesday night, which throws into doubt his involvement within the Barca game next Tuesday. Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar could miss next week’s Champions League tie with Barcelona. The 29-year-old Brazilian striker had to go away the pitch injured during his side’s French Cup game with Caen on Wednesday night. Any injury would give him just days to be fit the match against his former team after being hurt within the 1-0 win courtesy of Moise Kean’s goal within the last half . After the match, Kean played down fears over Neymar’s injury, saying: “All is well, he's ready. Tomorrow, in training, he will recuperate. He are going to be ready for the match [against Barcelona].” Mauricio Pochettino was forced to require off the striker on the hour mark and was replaced by Kylian Mbappe, and therefore the injury comes just after Neymar had returned from a month’s absence thanks to an ankle injury. PSG reached the ultimate of the Champions League last season only to suffer a defeat to Bayern Munich, and have yet to win the trophy in their history. Source: Eurosport

Barcelona top the Deloitte Money League but still face financial peril

Mark Chapman and The Athletic's Matt Slater assess the current state of football's financial landscape as the effects of the pandemic start to take a greater hold on the game. We speak to Deloitte's Tim Bridge after the firm published their annual money league this week with Barcelona sitting at the top on revenues of £627 million, but in the very same week we've seen headlines in Spain suggesting Barca are on the bring of bankruptcy. So how can a club that makes so much money be in so much debt? How badly have clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs felt the pinch as we approach a year without fans in stadiums? We're also joined by Roger Bell and John Purcell from football finance analysts Vysble to look at the bigger picture for football's uncertain financial future. What do the creeping levels of American investment in English football mean for the future of our game? Does it all just lead us back to the eternally looming prospect of a European super league?
