Birmingham fans, Chris Davies, and Tom Brady taunt Wrexham after denting their Championship playoff hopes on Sunday afternoon. Birmingham ended a three-game losing run when Carlos Vicente headed Birmingham ahead on 48 minutes, then the hosts’ captain Christoph Klarer made it 2-0 with around 30 minutes remaining. The result means Wrexham stay four points from […] The post Birmingham fans, Chris Davies, and Tom Brady taunt Wrexham after denting their playoff hopes appeared first on Fan Banter.

The dreams of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney reaching the Premier League could still be fulfilled this season as head coach Phil Parkinson stated that Wrexham's playoff hopes are "not over yet." Wrexham have endured a rough stretch of results at the worst possible time, with back-to-back defeats putting pressure on their push for promotion to the Premier League. To keep the dream alive for owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, head coach Phil Parkinson delivered a defiant message after the latest setback, insisting the playoff hopes are “not over yet.“ The Hollywood duo made no secret of their Premier League ambitions after three consecutive promotions, but the EFL Championship has proven to be the stiffest test yet in terms of the quality of opposition. A 2-2 draw against West Brom followed by heavy defeats to Southampton, 5-1, and most recently Tom Brady’s Birmingham City, 2-0, have seen Wrexham slip to seventh place and out of the automatic playoff positions. Parkinson did not shy away from the reality of the situation when addressing the media after the Birmingham defeat on Sunday: “We’ve had a tough week this week. But we’re not down and out yet. It’s not over yet. People will probably write us off and you can understand that to a certain degree, but inside the dressing room, we’re not writing ourselves off and we’re one win away from getting ourselves going again.“ Since their FA Cup elimination against Chelsea in early March, the Red Dragons have managed just two wins, one draw and four defeats in seven Championship outings. With 15 goals conceded across those matches, the inability to register a single shot on target against Birmingham laid bare some of the attacking concerns that have crept into Wrexham’s game during this difficult run. Carlos Vicente of Birmingham City scores his team’s first goal past goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo of Wrexham. Parkinson also addressed the team’s struggles in front of goal in his post-match press conference. “In every game this season, we’ve carried a threat. We’ve been a goal threat even against Premiership teams in the cup. Today, we just couldn’t find a way to produce that quality. I think the biggest problem we’ve had today is coming on the back of a defeat, and we haven’t had many back-to-back defeats,” he said, a sentiment that rang especially true given it marked the first time Wrexham had lost consecutive matches since August 2025. What’s next for Wrexham in the final sprint? Since the start of March, Wrexham’s form has dipped considerably from the level they had shown throughout the season, but a playoff place remains within reach. Reynolds and McElhenney‘s side currently sit seventh with 64 points from 42 games, four points behind Hull City, who occupy the sixth and final playoff spot. After two consecutive defeats, Wrexham will need to regroup quickly with just four games remaining in the regular season. Their April schedule includes trips to Stoke City, Oxford United and Coventry City, before the campaign closes on May 2 against fourth-placed Middlesbrough, a match that could prove decisive in determining whether the Red Dragons make the playoffs or watch the promotion race from the outside looking in.

League One has produced some genuinely dominant title-winning campaigns over the years, and with Lincoln City closing in on promotion, the League One odds have long since made the destination clear. The only real debate left is where Michael Skubala’s side will rank among the division’s most impressive champions. The benchmark: Birmingham City 2024-25 Last […] The post League One Title Winning Seasons Compared: Where Do Lincoln City 2025-26 Rank appeared first on World Football Index.

If John Eustace’s Birmingham City players did not wish the training ground reception staff “good morning” they were issued with a £250 penalty. Steven Gerrard implemented a variety of fines when manager of Aston Villa for players leaving flip-flops in the shower (£50), forgetting to bring a cake for a birthday (£50, Yaya Touré: look away now), leaving plates and cups on the dining table (£100 an item). When Frank Lampard replaced Maurizio Sarri in 2019-20, Lampard immediately introduced a series of internal disciplinary fines for first-team players. Late for training? That’s £20,000, guv. Failure to report knack or illness before a day off? That’s 10 large. Phone rings during a team meeting? One thousand English pounds, thank you very much. Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet. On this week’s special episode we are delighted to be joined by Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney. Alongside Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jill Scott, Rooney opens the show revealing that he wants to remain in football management despite an approach to enter the boxing ring. The all-time Manchester United top goal scorer talks about his managerial career so far, most recently at Birmingham City, and what he’s learnt from his spells in the dugout across England and America. With five Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup and countless individual awards to his name, Rooney enjoyed a glorious career at Old Trafford where he established himself as one of the all-time great footballers. The 38-year-old chats about his success, the infamous transfer request and how his time faired at the club after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement where he was reunited with his former Everton boss David Moyes before Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho took over. Finally, Rooney delves into his childhood and gives his thoughts on the current Manchester United team. Subscribe now so you never miss an episode! Hosted on Acast. Wayne Rooney lasted longer than the cabbage. And at least he didn’t have one thrown at him like Steve Bruce. Marcus, Luke, Andy and Vish discuss the exit of Luke Littler’s younger brother from Birmingham City and just why useful-FIFA-Committee-idiot-in-waiting Garry Cook appointed him in the first place. We also ponder West Ham fans’ split on Davide Moyes and – in totally normal news – Gianluigi Buffon wants goals to be made bigger and the Argentina FA retire the men’s national team number 10 shirt.
